The burgers were good and service was fast. The place was clean. I had taje out and really wanted a good burger it hit the spot.

This place is tucked in a mini mall off of Lancaster. It is apparently a nationwide chain. This location had lots of white surfaces and windows. It reminds me of a step above fast food, similar to Nancy Jo's and Five Guys. I haven't been to either of those in a long time. Service was friendly, you order at the counter and they bring your food to you. I tried the Bourbon Bacon burger and my companion got the A.1 Steakhouse burger. We split an order of fries. The burgers were good, lots of flavor and richness. I added some ketchup to mine as it was a tiny bit dry in some bites. The fries were good, they needed salt; luckily there was salt, pepper, ketchup and mustard at each table. Solid burgers, maybe a tad expensive for what you get. My total was over 30 dollars with two drinks before tip. But the same can be said of most food right now. They checked in with us about our food, which I appreciated. I would return if I was in the area and craving a burger. I would try one of their specials to keep costs down. Glad I tried this place out! read more

Not bad not bad at all! Burgers are made to order, exactly as asked for with the precise toppings etc. Mine was a single burger patty with cheese, tomato, pickles, fried onions, lettuce, honey mustard sauce. And it came exactly as that! Yes, the meat itself could use a bit more flavoring like salt/pepper. The fries were a good portion of piping hot crispy fries, very good. We had milkshakes to go with it. My husbands was delicious but mine had little chunks in it. But it was immediately re-mixed and served with new fresh whipped cream when I mentioned it to the counter person. She was extremely helpful and pleasant to deal with. A + for customer service and A- for burgers, fries, and one of the shakes. Place is clean and plenty of parking. read more

We had the Classic burger, it's a double-patty cheese burger and it's pretty tasty. Food comes on a metal tray, DIY soda, ketchup and mustard on the table. We were greeted and ordered at the counter. Medium sized dining area plenty of parking. read more

Now that's a tasty burger. The rings are crunchy but not burnt. The paddies are juicy but under seasoned, I just added salt and pepper at the table. Coke or Pepsi? Coke of course. The burger was very impressive. I had the bacon double cheese burger. The meat was high quality but could've used a little seasoning. The price was a little bit much. That's said. I definitely will return because the quality of food is very high, and I know I'll walk away from this restaurant a satisfied customer, that's worth a few extra dollars. Unfortunately, the location is off the road and hardly visible making it a destination location. That's a really hard way to be competitive on Lancaster where there are so many choices. I don't see this restaurant making it in their current location so if you want to try a Wayback burger, you should head over there soon. read more

Wayback Burgers (Salem, OR) just opened yesterday! It is off Lancaster in the same lot as Kike's Tacqueria. Pictured here is our order: sweet bacon burger, fried pickles, cheesesteak, and cheese curds. We also got a strawberry milkshake not pictured. Very very satisfying lunch!! Prices comparable to killer burger, around $10 for the cheesesteak and the burger (each). My partner preferred the burger over killer burger. I really enjoyed my cheesesteak and would for sure come back. There are better burgers in town overall, but this one is very tasty and they have a great menu. The cheese curds were incredible, 10/10. I don't do fried pickles but my partner said they were awesome. They also have onion rings, tots, cheese fries. This place is a chain franchise so they do have an app with rewards available, but the Salem location isn't available for pre order on the app yet I assume it will be soon. The dining area was large and clean, the staff were extremely welcoming and checked up on us throughout our visit. They went above and beyond my expectations of a fast casual restaurant. Briana checked us out and cleaned some of our trays, she was super kind. Would definitely return when I'm running errands on that side of town. Go check them out! read more

Decided to give a new place in town the chance and it was a good idea! I had a Chicken BLT w/ tots and the chicken was soooo crispy! I also tried the Red Velvet shake and that was on the sweet side, but I got it for that reason to begin with! Very delicious cheeseburgers! The food was brought out quickly and the place was nice and clean. Very simple aesthetic, but it felt comfortable to eat in. My only complaint is that I think the price of a burger by itself is a bit spendy. You have to add an additional 5 dollars for a meal, or just 2-3 dollars for fries, while spending 10 dollars for a standard cheeseburger. I would have expected the fries would be added into the price of the burger worth that much, as other restaurants offer. I'm not asking McDonalds prices, but I just think 10.25 is a bit too much for a double cheeseburger by itself. However, there is a regular cheeseburger meal you can get for 8 dollars which is not bad. read more

Burgers were not good. They really lacked flavor. We shared a Cajun and a Steakhouse burger, loaded bacon & cheese fries (which they got wrong) and onion rings. The onion rings were great. Went on a Sunday around lunchtime. You can tell they are new and still figuring out their routine. Many people training others so service was a little slow but fine. Had the Double Bacon with fries and Wayback Sauce on the side for a fry dip. It is a mustard based dip and was good on both the burger and fries. Both the burger and fries were great. Restaurant presentation is good and clean but a little confusing on whether to order on the machine or counter. Assuming you can order at the counter but they seemed busy with orders. The machine is cool but it doesn't accept tips? I'm just accustomed to tip even if it's a little so we left it at the tip jar. Food presentation was good and taste was great. My wife and ordered a few things to try them out. Classic burger, double bacon, chicken bacon ranch wrap, and onion rings. Burgers were good, filling, and well cooked, onion rings were delicious! Don't waste your money! Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, cheese fries, and a red velvet milkshake. The cheese fries had tiny dribbles of cheese barely anything worth calling them cheese fries. The grilled chicken was incredibly bland and soggy. The milkshake was watery, how that's accomplished, I have no idea. Only gave it 5 stars for the algorithm. I'm so serious, for the price, it is NOT worth it. The food sucks, the prices suck. Even the milkshake sucked, how do you mess up a milkshake!? Never going back and I hope others heed my advice. I don't get out to Salem very often, but I stumbled across this little gem today, and now I wish they had restaurants in the metro area. They have Gardenburger AND Impossible Burger options (in addition to meat), which is great! I got the Impossible Burger, and it was delicious (and not very expensive either). Nice and clean and very friendly service. We didn't get what we ordered. The meat is hand formed and seems fresh but no seasoning (flavor) at all. Fries are okay. We will try a bowl and a chopped salad next time and then decide the future but as of now we won't be back for burgers. read more

The restaurant was clean and music not too loud. However the food was greasy. My chicken BLT was so greasy the bun was falling apart and I ended up eating the chicken with a knife and fork. The chicken itself was tender and tasty by the batter it was fried in tasted burnt. The fries weren't much better. For $15, I'll go somewhere else. One more thing. I was watching the staff clean the metal serving dishes they used to put food on. I'm not sure if they were washed. Service was great but the food was not. The ambience was neutral, though the music was all over the place. Started with Classical, jumped into the Beastie Boys, and then straight into Soul music from the 60s and 70s? I felt like I was trapped in a funky little corner of purgatory. The burger was cooked well enough but was bland, unseasoned, and so greasy that the bun was actually soggy. The bacon that should have been on it was absent (not that it would have redeemed it). We were excited to try a new burger place. Excitement quickly stopped when we were ignored for a bit. The girl right in front of us was tending to he door dash guy that's okay she's doing her job. The bad thing is she was very nice to him but did not greet us just stood and stated. I think we look pretty normal. I asked her about the burgers let her know it was our first time I was looking for a single she said build your own, well ok that's fine I asked if they have a house sauce for the burgers. She said yes I said what is it she said gold sauce. Ok. So we placed our order no thank you nothing. Get the food she puts it on table no words walks away. As for the food the bun was so dry it fell apart made it hard to actually eat. Very dry. No flavor the meat patty is significantly smaller than the bun. A tiny amount of chopped onion maybe 3 little pieces and a very tiny slice of tomato. It just sucked. Fries were ok your basic fry. Overall I will never go back. It's also very cold. Just not a happy place. The tall blonde girl working the front is in need of customer service training and stop putting her fingers in her mouth. It's unsanitary. Sadly disappointed. Today was my first time eating here. The lady taking our order greeted us with a smile and explained the whole process of ordering. She made suggestions and answered all of our questions. She walked the through downloading the app and how to redeem a free milkshake. She explained the rewards system and how to redeem points. We got our food, it was so good. Worth the money and the wait. The restaurant was really clean also. All four employees that were there, were friendly and smiling. We will definitely be back again!! read more

Tried this place tonight after our other dinner plans didn't work out and we were not very impressed. After ordering we sat there for over 35 mins waiting for our food which is crazy to me since there were around 8 people working (4 were just standing around) and only 4 other customers. I knew while we were waiting that it might be a miss for us since the cooks got 2 out of 3 orders wrong for another customer. Once we got our food we headed home to eat. At first glance we could tell they forgot the cheese sauce for our fries and on top of that, all our burgers were made wrong. What we asked not to have on our burgers was indeed put on them. My family and I also weren't really impressed with the taste of the burgers. Mediocre flavor or lack there of and very greasy. Just wasn't our style and definitely not worth the price. This place is great. We really like the vibe. The dining room was fresh and clean. Staff was friendly and service is great. They bring your food to your table. Burgers are fresh. Cheesy fries are satisfying. Wife, who is a former Minnesota native, approved of the fried cheese curds. I had the red velvet shake very tasty. Wife's strawberry shake was smooth and creamy. The onion rings are really, really good. The fried pickles are amazing, probably the best I have had. The burger was average nothing fabulous. The service...was horrible. People standing around doing nothing. There were 3 of us that ordered separately. The first order came out in about 15 minutes, the second 15 minutes later the third, 15 minutes later.
