Coastal Pulmonary Associates - Really backwards impossible advice for DSPD DSPS Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder from Dr. Hsing.

Went here today. Been here before. Both times the front desk workers have been bad. They have…read moreattitude. They insist on me filling out things or doing things that are unnecessary or that I've already done and then do petty things to mess things up. So, before my appointment today I filled out everything about me and my medical health online during a lengthy checkin process. It took me 30 minutes to fully complete it. When I arrived today the woman helping me wanted me to manually fill out paperwork with all of the same information and I refused and said you've already got it all and I'm not filling out duplicate information. She insisted on me giving them my insurance card when I don't have an actual card. I have my info. I've never needed my card. They always have my insurance number and company and info and do not need my physical card or a copy of it to bill the insurance company. But she was insistent and i told her the above. I asked her to cancel an upcoming appointment with another doctor there about this point. In fact I asked her twice to cancel it. She said she would. I got called back for the pulmonologist and he was actually fine. No issues. Come back out to make a followup appointment before I leave per the doctor. Make it with another lady there. I then asked her if the appointment with the other doctor there was canceled like I requested and she said no it was not. I told her to cancel it. She did. She set the followup appointment with me. I left. The previous lady did not cancel it like she said she would. Sigh. I get a text after I left saying the appointment I just made had been moved to the day prior than what I just made. I suspect the First Lady with a bad attitude moved it just to be petty. This is awful customer service. Just not a good experience. She was power tripping. Had an attitude and did things to be petty and to screw with me and my medical stuff. It was a lot of unnecessary friction. A simple check in at the front desk of any medical office should be easy and pleasant. I'd give zero stars because it was that bad. But one star is for the doctor because he was ok. Also, Dr. Hsing their sleep doctor is not a good doctor if you have a circadian sleep disorder like DSPD or DSPS or Non-24 or other. His treatment of me and my condition was the worst I've ever encountered and I've seen many sleep doctors over the years. He is completely backwards about treating those type of disorders and gave bad advice and no realistic help or treatment to me at all. I am extremely knowledgeable about Delayed Sleep Phase Disorder and treatment protocols and he is just absolutely wrong. Attached is the plan he came up with that if he tried to follow it himself he couldn't. It's an impossible plan. If you have DSPD or N24 I'd run to another doctor and skip this place. He's their only sleep doctor. Unfortunately. He may be ok for sleep apnea but not for circadian rhythm sleep disorders. He covers all of their locations. Anyway. Front desk is a real piece of work. I will not be going back after I'm done with the pulmonologist I saw today and the stuff he ordered to get done. In the future I'll find somewhere else to go. I would probably advise the same to anyone reading this.

I mentioned something abnormal on imaging report and handed the report to her. She pushed my hand away and told me she didn't need report she can view imaging herself. I have never had a doctor do this before and they always welcome another opinion. After viewing the imaging she told me nothing was wrong. This made me feel uneasy as another Pulmonogist and Radiologist told me something was very wrong. She did not bother to view any other imaging I brought and was very dismissive towards me. It turns out I have a very severe Pulmonary problem and because of her ignorance , arrogance and attitude I was delayed proper treatment. I can not speak of other doctors here, but this doctor is horrible and cannot recommend her.

I told her I was postponing making the appointment because I was focusing on three other doctor appointments which were given as a priority by my doctor. The clerk got upset and started announcing my medical history and said I had to make the appointment. When I told her I was postponing the appointment she hung up. Who wants to see a doctor no matter how good they are if you have to go through abuse to see them. Nothing like a Clerk with an Attitude!

No visiting leaves a person feeling very isolated and the family feeling helpless. The nurses and other doctors at Scripps Encinitas have been wonderful this week. Then today... Dr Eismans first day seeing out father. Our father prior to pneumonia was a full time volunteer at Brother Bennos daily. He lives independently and drives. He is an amazing 96 year old. Dad has been battling pneumonia and is losing, as of today. This is the first day we were told that dad would not recover. Up to now there has been hope from all nurses & doctors. Dr Eisman called and asked "what are we doing here? why all the tests and scans? why the antibiotics? he has a zero percent chance of living so why do this?" Yesterday was totally different, it changed overnight. What a horrible thing to hear in a horrible way. There are other ways of saying the same thing. Every professional that I have spoken with says the minute Eisman shows up everyone is on edge. He is full of himself, domineering and uncaring to say the least. That's pretty telling when your peers believe you need to quit and that's exactly what I've been told. Dr Scott Eisman, if you ever had a desire to help you've lost it in your ego. And you & your ego are a killer.

She stays up-to-date on medical research and has phoned me with additional info after following up on several of my appointments with further research on a related topic. In this era of changing healthcare, we definitely want our doctors' knowledge to be growing with the times. Dr. Witman is an exceptional physician who is tenacious in her resolve to figure out the best way to help her patients. I appreciate the lengths she has gone to - to maximize my health. Besides further research, she has referred me to specialists who she communicated with, and advocated for me when she didn't think a specialist was treating my case with the urgency she felt it warranted. She has also helped interpret other doctors' notes, lab reports & x-rays for me so that I understood what they meant. Availability has been so valuable. Every time I have called her office with some ailment, I have been able to get in to see the doctor that day. When I have sent Dr. Witman an email summarizing visits with specialists...she responded off-hours even if it was a weekend or evening. Her responses were very detailed indicating that she has studied the results from the various specialists. She truly is dedicated to delivering the highest quality personal healthcare.
