I wish I had read the previous review on this bed-and-breakfast prior to booking last weekend. My husband and I just stayed overnight and we will not be back. We checked in midday so we had the benefit of having daylight- making first impressions less creepy. We were the only ones in the bed-and-breakfast, as far as we could tell . Not a sole insight. There was no degree of security. No codes to enter, etc., after reading a taped message on the front door, we entered and eventually found our room. I truly love old / historic homes and Inns. I usually offer them quite a bit of Grace..... Despite outdated furnishings, our room appeared clean and the bed was comfortable. The air-conditioning worked well and there was a small room refrigerator. Surprisingly, no musty smells. The bathroom is in need of some serious repair. The sink is chipped and rusty and the shower tub- well, it's is far from a shower. We showered late that night and despite the timing, there was little water flow -more like a trickle by the time my husband showered. We had no idea when breakfast would be served - since we never saw anyone. We just wandered down the next morning. The breakfast dining room, where we were to eat, had a trashy movie playing on the TV. I got up and changed it . The breakfast was subpar with low level of supplies - tea, etc. We are willing to pay more for a room knowing breakfast is included. We should've dined out instead. I have one more true life commentary - there was a table in the hallway upstairs that appeared to be an amenity table - boxed hairdryer and box of Trojans. I thought it was a prank for someone staying at the Inn at first, however, later realized - don't think so. Time to Class it up several notches, Wayne on Main!!! Honesdale is a fabulous historic town. The Inn has tremendous potential - if only some sweat equity and thoughtfulness was put into it. Our overall experience was similar to that of the Twilight Zone. Perhaps you should look elsewhere. read more

June 2023 A friend and I decided to do a 3 day trip to the Lake Wallenpaupack area and were quite excited when we found Wayne on Main in Honesdale, Pa. Unfortunately, our excitement was shattered when we checked into this B & B. Our first issue was waiting 3 days for them to call us back when we tried to make our reservation, but we got the call and were on our way. We had a hard time finding it (even with GPS because the sign on the front lawn was tiny and wasn't immediately visible on this busy street. We find the place, walk up to the front steps where a dog leash was draped down the steps (tripping hazard and nowhere on their site is mention of pets on the premises). Some people aren't pet friendly or are allergic! The front porch furniture looked like no one bothered to wash it down in the last 10 years...it was dirty and dingy. Even if we wanted to sit on the porch swing or chairs, we couldn't watch the traffic go by with the huge shrubs blocking off the porch. We ring the doorbell, where no one answered. We then read the sign in the window to call the Wayne Hotel down the street, or the innkeeper's cell phone. We did get ahold of Adrienne and she told us to go in and enjoy coffee or tea, look around and to go straight to our room since the key was in the lock on the door. The downstairs area was antique (which was expected), but very dark, dusty and dingy. We go to our assigned room only to see the dust and scratched up old furniture. Antiques can be beautiful, but this furniture looked like they left it out in the rain and the top of the dresser didn't have any stain left and was dirty. The bathroom door didn't latch shut and we had to have something heavy against the door for privacy. There was an extension cord sticking out from behind the bed which I almost caught my foot on, to plug the lamp into the wall. The area rug was frayed around the edges and had remnants of dog fur. She told us we could park out back and showed us the back staircase. We went through the kitchen where they kept their pomeranian and the kitchen counters were piled high with clutter and dishes in the dish drain. The back steps smelled of cigarette smoke. She told me she carries her dog around with her all the time. She said she asks guests when they arrive what they eat for breakfast so she can make our favorites. I informed her that pancakes or french toast were preferred and asked what time she serves breakfast. She told us it was served until every guest ate regardless of the time. I said we were not early risers and would probably be closer to 10 a.m. We go to breakfast to find scrambled eggs and sausage patties in trays over sterno...which were not lit. The food was ice cold and the sausage patties were burnt, dried out and hard in texture. P.S. no pancakes or french toast. There were bagels and a loaf of bread sitting next to a toaster. The window air conditioner in our room was blocked by the drapes that weren't tied back. The "white" sheer panels were so filthy, they were black (not an exaggeration). The white baseboards had an inch of dust on them. Adrienne complained to us about guests that had stayed prior to our visit (so unprofessional). The ad for the inn says rooms are bright with fresh flowers...neither was the truth. I asked for fresh towels, in which she handed them to me while holding her dog in her arms. I gave it one star because Adrienne was very friendly and pleasant even though she spent more time down at Hotel Wayne than at the B&B. She wasn't easy to get in touch with. Do yourselves a favor and spend a few extra bucks to stay someplace clean. I would never stay there again and do not recommend anyone else to. I apologize for the lengthy review, but it was the only way to fully describe our experience! read more
