After my steak came out nearly raw, I decided to order a burger instead and asked for it medium--only for it to come out almost raw again. No one checked in to see how the food was either time. Really disappointing experience, and I won't be coming back. read more

We didn't even get to eat, because the waitress was SO disrespectful, we left! I would like to note that other staff members were friendly, but we didn't deal with other staff outside complaining about our waitress. As soon as she came to our table, she had an attitude. My husband asked "How are you today?" To which she snidely answered "I don't know yet, I just got here." As she walked away, my husband stated "Excuse me, can I ask a quick question?" She spun around and rolled her eyes. When he asked if they make frozen drinks, she stated, while waggling her finger as if scolding a child: "I'll tell you right now, I'm NOT making frozen drinks tonight!" and promptly walked away. She was there the next night as well, so we just didn't go there during our stay in Honesdale. My husband later stated "Maybe they only treat locals well," to which I reasoned "It's a restaurant in a HOTEL! If they can't accommodate outsiders, that won't go well for them." We did manage to find another restaurant named Frank's (in Simpson) that had some of the best food we've ever eaten. So thanks, I guess. We had been thinking about moving to Honesdale, but the visit helped us change our minds. I'm a Med-Surg nurse, I can wipe butts, clean vomit, fart ostomy bags, do all sorts of disgusting things with WAY more grace, compassion, empathy, kindness, and humility than this supercilious waitress could manage simply having a conversation! read more

Let's start with things that were okay. Our server Kate (Caitlin S.) was great, really friendly & attentive considering she was the only server working I ordered Stella, it was cold and came in a chilled glass. This is where the good things end Actually the wings were okay considering they were probably frozen.They were crispy & hot. My wife ordered salmon, it was not edible, tasteless , overcooked and again probably frozen fillets like the kind from Costco ($29) The spinach was chopped spinach again frozen. My chicken breast sandwich is also inedible, again like the small frozen breasts you get in a bag of 20 from Costco ($11.00) side of Mac & cheese tiny, also just meh ($3.00) For the record we did not eat any of the food other than the wings appetizer. Kate asked if I wanted to box it to go? My reply; "It was awful here why would I take it with me?" I imagine she checked with the cook or owner and the result was no charge for the wings. I am puzzled by the great reviews. We had dinner last evening. No salad, no bread included with pasta meals (and no bread other than slider rolls available a la carte). Husband had lobster and shrimp scampi that should have been a butter, garlic, wine sauce but instead had an asian flavor to it like the base was peanut oil. I had the 1202 pasta with chicken that was very good. My glass of wine was $11. A mediocre meal for 2 was $90. Our server was attentive. We sat in the big dining room, that just seemed old. A restaurant with white table cloths should not ask you if you want your dirty salad fork back before the $44 filet and lobster dinner! The filet tasted a little weird and the lobster pieces were drowned in butter but not awful. A few weeks before, I had the lobster salad that was fantastic! read more

What happened to this restaurant? It used to be so good! Admittedly, it's been several years since I dined here but I remember the food and the service being excellent. We decided to have lunch here since we wanted to have their General Tso's Wings - we remembered them being outstanding. We ordered the General Tso's wings, the White Truffle Fries and the Calamari. I wanted to order the French Onion soup (remembering how good it used to be) but was told they were out of it. First, we sat in the bar area since it was lunch. There were what seemed to be dozens, if not hundreds of flies buzzing around. It was absolutely annoying and unappealing. Nevertheless our lunch was brought out and it just looked average to me. I remember this restaurant taking such care in their presentation. Both the Fries and Wings were ok. Certainly not the "best ever" wings we remembered. The Fries barely tasted of truffle and were clearly frozen French fries. The wings were very bland and lacking flavor. The calamari tasted very fishy to me but my dining partner thought it was "ok and edible". We were so disappointed in our experience. Clearly the Hotel Wayne has seen better days. My wife and I really like this place. The food is excellent and the prices reasonable. The wait staff is hit and miss because there seems to be a high turnover, so we ask for our favorite waitress when we go. Could use some renovations on the inside, but really who cares, the food is the important thing. read more

Been here twice one sat outside once sat at the wine store actually next-door. Both times service was excellent and food was delicious. They squeezed us in on Valentine's Day weekend. We had the special appetizer sliders with strawberries and brie. Never would've thought to put those flavors together on a hamburger but it worked. Had the salmon and my husband had spaghetti and clam sauce. He was disappointed the clam sauce was in a pesto. He's used to more of the white wine sauce but it was still good. Nothing special from the kitchen, food was average. Having 2 menus makes it difficult to do anything well. The bar had mostly sweet cocktails on the bar menu, which needs an update. The weekday evening bartender was not opposed to making cocktails that were not on the menu, and I enjoyed what he made for me. At the recommendation of the staff at The Mansion at Noble Lane, we came to dine here Wednesday night. We were greeted with friendly staff and promptly seated in a COVID-19 friendly dining room. There is an extensive menu to choose from but the seasonal Butternut Squash soup and drinks caught my eye. And I was not disappointed!! Please please please get the soup and the Apple Pie Martini and don't forget to ask for whipped cream! The seafood was so fresh and tasty. We cleaned the glass of the Fried Oyster Martini and the fish sandwich was the perfect balance of a nice crunchY coating and soft, melt in your mouth fish on the inside! The only hiccup we had was the Black Angus Bacon Cheddar Cheese burger that was supposed to be medium well and came out very bloody sans the bacon. When sending it back to the kitchen, it was sent back out with no cheese and well done. When asked to add the cheese it was sent back out with cold cheese that was barely melted on the burger. It was very disappointing. However, the star of the entire experience was the EXCEPTIONAL service provided by Rachel. From beginning to end, she was attentive and took pride in the food that came out of the kitchen, as if she cooked it herself. So much so that she personally remedied the situation after being disappointed by the hiccup with the burger. This is a rarity in the service industry and the owners should know that when Rachel is working she treats the business of creating an exceptional experience just as seriously as if this restaurant was her own. We will be sure to always make this a stop when visiting the area in the future! read more

Nice ambience but very disappointing fiood. We had Easter dinner. I ordered a 16 oz NY strip steak. It came out ten minutes after i ordered it. It had obviously been pre-cooked and poorly heated so that it was tepid and tasted like a left over. Sad, because it was a decent cut of meat. A bowl of dinner rolls were served and had hardly been heated at all, they could have tasted great if served hot. Coffee and dessert were ordered and the coffee was room temperature. I sent it back and "fresh" coffee was served which was also tepid. Apparently neither the chef, kitchen, nor servers are paying attention to their craft. The meal came to $100 incl tip. It's really too bad because it is nice location and has an attractive interior. I don't know what management is thinking. read more

We were visiting Honesdale and stopped at Bistro 1202 on the recommendation of a friend. Th asks friend. What a great bar and restaurant located in the Wayne Hotel. We enjoyed a cocktail in the lounge and then moved to the restaurant for dinner. They offer a nice mix of traditional and some unique dishes including several different entrees featuring their delicious brisket that is slow roasted on site. Delicious! We live an hour away but will definitely dine here again when we are in the area. read more

Avoid at all costs. We were staying at the hotel (that's another story) and decided to have dinner there our last night in. I ordered a Rangoon appetizer to start and my husband ordered wings. The I wings were ok clearly bagged frozen. The Rangoon however was not in a wonton but in something else they were over fried and too hard to eat I had the Bistro steak salad. It was all romaine lettuce not mixed greens they put raw walnuts and a side of chopped apples that seemed pickled the steak steak topper was an entire sirloin which would be ok but it had zero flavor no seasoning not even salt and pepper My husband had ribs they were drowned in bbq sauce the green beans we're inedible obviously frozen and not no seasoning his fried potatoes at least has salt. On top of this they make the poor bartender girl do everything from waitress, checkin hotel guests, run food, answer the phone etc. she ready tried her best and you could tell she was way over worked read more

Came here this past Saturday night for dinner just because the building looked so cool from the outside. We sat in the old timey bar area at one of the high tops right by the window overlooking the main intersection. Felt very small town and had an antique vibe. I liked hearing the heat pipes cling and clang. Had a wine burger with truffle fries and the wife had a fish sandwich and some spicy honey wings. Both sandwiches were tasty, and wings were good too. Both Wallenpaupack on draft and in can were exceptional. They have a very affordable humidor at the bar as well. read more

I agree with other reviewers regarding the dry aged steak, my husband ordered the ribeye "very rare Pittsburgh ". It was not charred and medium, tried to make the best of it. I hate to write this review but I feel it needs to be said. This place is just not good. Soooo much improvement is needed. The owners Lenny and Marge it seems want to force the community to say that the food is good. They are always around but I am not sure patrons are being honest with them about how poor the food is. I hear from many and witness my self how they treat their wait staff poorly and this is probably why they cannot keep a good chef. Nearly all of the food comes out of a frozen package and as a result could be prepared by a layman. I feel bad for the waitresses because the few that tolerate the owners are overworked, possibly because no one with self respect would willingly work for these people. The menu should be reduced by 90 percent in hopes that the kitchen could produce a decent plate. Tonight we ordered chicken cordon Bleu (it came out of a box and was a total disappointment), Duck with cherry glaze (duck might have been a chicken leg and the cherry glaze was in a cup on the side and may have been seven up with cherries from the bar blended for 28.00) If someone with any really cooking skills would open a restaurant in this town they would clean house! ​Again I am sorry to write this review but this is an honest opinion of someone who has eaten here a dozen times because on Tuesday there is almost no where to eat out in Honesdale. Hire more waitstaff so we don't have to wait 2 hours, buy actual ingredients, and find a chef. If you are nice someone will work for you. Good luck. read more

Just not for me at all. Had high hopes for this local joint while in town but it fell short on every level. We stood at the hostess counter for a ridiculous long time. The food was below sub par. The angus sliders weren't even home made they were frozen patties in perfect little shapes.. flavorless even with blue cheese on it and the bacon was like Bacos in size...minuscule..not impressed! The waitress would ask how everything was in motion and we joked what if we had a response she is already in the kitchen? The decor looks like hotel art. The service was crappy. It was a busy night in the town. The owner came up to my family to let us know it would be a 10 to 15 min wait. We were completely ok with that. We walked in at 7:15 pm. They asked us to sit in the waiting area. We sat in the waiting area for about 5 to 10 mins, which again we had no problem with. Then someone sat us at a table and we sat at this table for a good 30 mins while staff walked pass us not asking us if we been greeted yet nor getting us any drinks. Meanwhile the owner of the place was sitting at a table behind us barking orders at his employee's. Telling tables around us that they had employees not show up for work that night and how people don't know the meaning of work. Meanwhile he's sitting down watching his business struggle hard because lack of employee's. I felt super bad for our waitress because she was so stressed out. We ordered our food and drinks... my husband was served cold tacos. My daughters food came out right, and my food wasn't even what I ordered.... my drink was supposed to be a Creamsicle cocktail and it was foamy and tasted like whipped vanilla with vodka. I then asked for a coke or pepsi and she took my cocktail off our check and gave me a soda which was flat. Again not her fault. But we will never go back there... we were starving and sat there for a hour and a half and didn't even get to eat because everything was messed up. I would just like to say that the owner should have jumped in somewhere to help his business instead of sitting at a table ordering drinks and food and barking orders.... not a good business man. read more

Enjoyed lunch on the porch. The food wasn't the best but wasn't the worst either. The beer battered haddock was a little thin. My wife had the Angus sliders and while they were okay ,they were frozen patties not home-made. Buffalo califlower not special and salads a little small. Add 2 sodas and the bill was $44.00 plus tip. A little pricey. The waitress was wonderful and even tho we were the only couple outside on the porch she came around frequently and checked on us. We'll stop again and try a couple different dishes and work on keeping the bill down for lunch. Is was good enough to give it another chance. We'll see. read more

Wow! What a cool place with great food and an awesome selection of beer. The calamari was as good as I've ever had anywhere. We shared it among three but I'd order it as my meal and be very happy next time I'm here. It's a big menu with tons of choices and unique bar fare. I had a special (General Tsao's tacos). Yumm! I would have given them 5 stars but when we sat down for dinner there were a ton of fruit flies around our tables landing on our beer and wine glasses, I was not impressed when we asked the waitress she could not figure out why they were there. With that said the food and choices being offered are incredible, the Bistro Chips are my favorite, wow!!!! The service is excellent as well, and if you would like a little fine dining in a small town setting you are in like Flynn. You can have bar fare or get surf and turf, Honesdale should be proud to have this place!!!! read more

Ate here on a Friday evening. The food was good and the service excellent- our pregnant server was attentive to us; kept drinks filled and checked on us constantly without disrupting conversations. Saturday eve was all together different. We had a party of 7. Three ordered the ribs, which all three agreed were terrible! Much so that my spouse became ill. (Management did nothing about this.) Drinks were not served. Three times we sent the buns back as we were served them FROZEN - they couldn't seem to heat them properly and we never did get any buns. I ordered a bottle of wine, I received a glass of wine. When I did get the bottle, it was not uncorked and when I received the bill I was charged for the glass + the bottle. (No, I didn't pay for the glass of wine.) Check out this little town before eating, there is a great place, JENNZ, just down the Main Street. Good luck eating here. read more

The problem with this eatery is its inconsistencies. I called to see if dinner would be a wait and was told to make a reservation as it could get crowded Saturday nights. Right off the bat I had a good vibe and made reservations for 8:30 as we wanted to spend some time in the county fair. We were then told the kitchen closes at 9pm. So we opted for an 8pm dinner. Oddly early for a Saturday during a busy time of the year. The service was good with the exception of not re-filling our water until dessert was served. The food was not as good as we had hoped. I had the 1202 bistro steak. 12 oz. NY strip. I asked for it medium rare. It was a slightly pink medium that was somewhat dry and lacked flavor. My wife had the duck. The skin was not as crispy as advertised (which made for a somewhat gummy skin) and the "sweet" sauce was an oddly iridescent red glaze reminiscent of Chinese food sweet and sour sauce. The potatoes wedges and sweet potatoes served with each however were excellent. The salads were poor to say the least. My daughter had the kids cheese burger which was delicious and the ciabatta bread on the burger was excellent as was the table bread. Our app was the coquille w scallops. Again the scallops were tasty albeit on the bland side (the sear was eh) but the puff pastry was somewhat under cooked and the sauce on the flavorless side. The entire dish benefited greatly from our addition of table salt. The wine list was mediocre at best. I had an old fashioned which again was not so tasty. In all this bistro could benefit from a touch up in flavor. Next time, if there is a next time, I would stick to the burger and beer. It seems as though the more complex dishes fall well short of the flavor and texture mark. And the basic staples are cooked and flavored perfectly. I would scale back the menu and stick to what shines. Oh and what bakery did they get they're breads from!? read more
