Virtually each time we visited this Hickory location, there was at least one employee who was unprofessional or downright rude. As I recall during all these visits, we only felt the need to ask one question on one occasion about the availability and location of a product and was led to it but were left to feel as though it had been a burden for the employee. It was a very large bag of kibble, and although we could manage carrying it to checkout ourselves, it would have been nice for at least an offer to have been made for assistance. All of the other experiences involved rude employees stepping between us and products on the shelves, reaching over us while we were trying to look at or retrieve a product while "assisting another customer," and just a general atmosphere that employees would rather be anywhere but there. We then decided that perhaps we should try ordering online and picking up in the store to avoid the unpleasantness. Well, that didn't work out very well either. PetSmart has A LOT of work to do in getting their app user friendly and reliable. The incentives offered for online shopping are also a joke because they exclude most, if not all, well-known and trusted brands. Unfortunately, with all of the options available both online and in-store for meeting our pet's needs, PetSmart has done absolutely nothing competitively "smart" to secure our ongoing business.

After calling numerous local vets I contacted Startown and they agreed to see her right away. I can't tell you how scared I was for my beloved dog and she needed immediate care..they provided that. Dr. Barlow examined her and identified right away what the problem was. He treated her and me with the utmost kindness and respect! He had her feeling better in just a matter of days. I can't say enough good words about the staff specifically Dr Barlow, Dr Bilhorn and assistant Sydney. They all were the epitome of what a care facility should be! I highly recommend this vet clinic! And I would like to add I will be changing where my precious fur baby goes regularly from now on!

Dehydration was blamed on time spent on patio. IF true, a competent staff would have recognized a problem and taken corrective action. It's clear no corrective action was taken. The injuries were blamed on the time spent sleeping on a hard surface. We were told the dogs would have cots to sleep on, but because they supposedly had a potty accident, the cots were removed. Nonetheless, the injuries appear to be cuts/scrapes, not pressure wounds. Again, a competent staff would have noticed a problem and taken corrective action. If there is something in the kennel causing injuries, why has it not been addressed? We received NO COMMUNICATION regarding injuries, not even when picking up our dogs. I guess they hoped we would not notice. We received NO COMMUNICATION regarding weight loss/dehydration, but I guess they would have to first be observant enough to notice a problem. We paid to have our dogs taken care of but all they seem to have received was neglect. NEVER AGAIN!

Today is the first and last time I will use this facility for my dog. We just moved here from…read moreBoston. My dog (55lbs) has been boarded and in daycare/daycamp in Maryland, Seattle, and Boston where we have previously lived. He is not new to this. He was going for his daycare evaluation and a bath. He loves going to daycare and is well socialized. I have never had an issue with his behavior in any of his former daycares. (I have yet to pick him up from his bath, hopefully all went well there. I can only comment on the daycare eval). In his notes I specified "he does NOT like golden retrievers. Not even a little. Do not place him with goldens." I also specified he can become over stimulated and will need a time out/break after too much play time. I made sure to tell this to the person who was taking him for his evaluation day too. Fast forward to this afternoon, I get the phone call that I was correct. He does not like golden retrievers and gets "triggered" by them. I was notified he was barking at other dogs and humping them. They then told me that he would not be able to participate in daycare there until he gets some training. (Um, he's had 2 levels of training). I verified with the person who spoke with me "So, you placed him with golden retriever(s) after I SPECIFICALLY put it in his notes he cannot be around them, AND I told you this when I dropped him off?" She replied "Yes. Because they do not have the facilities to keep him away from a specific dog or dog types in daycare". (Maybe that should have been disclosed to me???). I would not have dropped him off. I asked why he could not have been placed with the smaller dogs or given a break because he was overstimulated? Apparently that was not thought of. The Pawtales person I spoke with did tell me he could try again after he got some additional training. I'm pretty sure their personnel need some training.... I'm not interested in a facility that is willing to put dogs in danger by not listening to the owners who know them best. We trust these facilities to have dog knowledge and understand dog body language, and listen to those who know them best. This facility is definitely not that place. Do not trust your dog with them.

I have been to other vets with my dogs skin issues ( for the past two years he had itched and gnawed his skin driving us nuts and to the point of causing huge sores) they wanted me to come in every month to give him a shot for itching which was NOT in my budget nor was it addressing the actual cause, it was dr Hubbs that found his thyroid was not functioning in normal range, after a couple of weeks this dog quit his itching and now the sores have healed up.

They charged me 40 dollars for the full groom (that is extremely inexpensive for the quality I received). They are very bad with keeping time, I had an appointment on Monday at 9:00 but they never opened because of snow. Yes, the road was icy and even schools had closed, but they sure could have given me a call letting me know not to come. I made another appointment on Friday at 9:30 and they came on time. They even gave me a discount for having to wait on Monday. However, I was told that it will take about 3-4 hours but it actually took them about 5-6 hours. It was not a problem for me since I did not have anywhere to be, but it is good to note that it takes longer than they say that it does. The groomer seems very experienced and caring. I am giving her a five star because I know that I will be going back and she deserves better reviews than this. I recommend poocchi if you have time and are not in a rush. We brought our cat in and the groomer was summoned by saying "the cat is here." Our appointment was at 10 in the morning thinking she would be taken care of rather quickly however that was the opposite. We called to check on her at Noon and they had yet to even start on her. We didn't get a phone call until after 4 to let us know she was finished. Our cat really isn't used to being in a small cage for hours on end and when I questioned them if she was in there all day, I was met with odd explanations that led me to believe, yes she was in her cage all day. Along with dogs running around everywhere and attempting to escape I'm pretty sure our cat will not be brought back to Poochi.
