Finally got around to ordering the chirashi don and if thick slabs of fresh sashimi piled on top of rice does not appeal to you, I don't know what will! My dad ordered the 14-piece sashimi set and what a feast for the eyes and mouth it was! I love how much thought they put into their presentation and every component of the dish - including the garnish - is edible! As mentioned before, everything I've tried here so far has been consistent and flavorful - even the edamame, salad, and miso soup that comes with the entree! Wayne's Sushi Bistro is located in the Vintage Hills Shopping Center - a big and spacious, but what seems to be a semi-quiet plaza. There is plenty of shared parking in the parking lot. They are a pretty small restaurant, so it was a bit hard to find when I came at night. Not much service, as I ordered on the phone for a quick pick up - it was ready within 10 minutes. I wanted a good post workout meal that was also light, so I opted for 1 order each of their sake maki (1 roll - 8 small pieces) and sake nigiri (1 order - 2 pieces). The salmon from the sake maki did not taste as fresh, as it could, so I had to put extra soy sauce to mask the taste when I usually do not use much soy sauce for my sushi. The salmon from the sake nigiri tasted pretty fresh though - probably because it is a different cut from the salmon or something? Overall, a bit pricey at about $16 - it would had been worth it, if both orders tasted fresh, but it was decent, especially for the area. read more

Sake toro and Hamachi Toro were very good and not expensive at all. We asked if there's anything special for birthdays and they gave us the ice-cream & mochi plate!! Customer service was awesome. We couldn't finish the teriyaki chicken since it was sooo big, so they packed for us and the next day, we found out they gave us more rice since we didn't have much rice left on the plate! Also, we went at 6pm on a Thursday and more than half the tables were taken! You know they are good restaurants when they are busy on a weeknight! All the staff wore masks which I highly appreciate!! Our favorite sushi place in the Bay Area. My family have all been to Japan and we feel this is as good as any sushi that we've had there. A surprisingly nice little sushi restaurant! I had never heard of this spot before and found it when browsing for sushi in the area. My friend and I arrived around 6:30pm on a Saturday and it was quite busy inside. The interior is quite dark which was a little odd but the space itself is very wide. We ordered a spicy salmon roll, seafood udon, spicy scallop and hamachi toro nigiri, and a red mountain roll. The food came out in the order it was ready rather than all at once, which was good but it meant some things felt a little out of order. They also give you complementary edamame when you sit down. Out of all the items, I would say the stars were definitely the nigiri. Generous portions and super fresh, I really enjoyed both of them! I thought the spicy salmon roll was a little poorly wrapped and not anything special, while the red mountain roll was also just average. We were hunting for lunch and came across the yelp rating for Wayne's Sushi Bistro. Anytime we find a restaurant with over 400 reviews and 4.5 stars, it's almost like a challenge. We defy you to find faults! The restaurant is at the quieter end of a large strip mall. There's plenty of parking. We arrived shortly before 5pm on a Wednesday afternoon. There was one other table in use when we entered. We thought it was a bit odd that we were seated right behind the other table but figured that it was for the benefit of staff not to have to walk too far. Menus were presented and drink orders were taken immediately. Once we placed our order, it was a short wait for food to start showing up. In fact, it seemed like the kitchen was in a hurry to get us to eat so they could turn the table. Post pandemic, I think that front of the house needs to exert a little more authority over back of the house and pace the meals better. We were impressed that both of us each received Hot Miso Soup and a House Salad. I believe that came with the Combo A but many restaurants will only serve one of each with one Combo plate. That is really a mistake because the food cost is very inexpensive and the good will that it can generate is substantial. We ordered the Hiyako Cold Tofu with Yuzo - 4 - The tofu with the Bonito Flakes was delicious. The yuzu was so-so, lacking a strong citrus flavor. Combo A - 5 - was beautiful and delicious. All of the fish tasted very fresh. The serving temperature was right. Not too cold, not warm. The rice could have been seasoned a bit more. When the Combo was delivered, I asked the server to tell the kitchen to hold off on the Hamachi Kama until we were ready. While we were working on the Combo, she kept an eye on us until I asked her to have the kitchen fire the Hamachi Kama. The size of the collar was good but unfortunately someone had overseasoned it. Way too salty. Not enough to send it back but we probably won't order it again if we eat here again. read more

The quality of the fish was below average to poor. After eating half, I didn't finish because the fish was not tasting right a little slimy which is not a good sign. I'm happy to see Wayne's is still around - seen a lot of places cycle through this spot since I've lived in the area. The fish is surprisingly fresh and they are always generous with their sashimi and nigiri slices. My family loves to get Combo B, which comes with sashimi, nigiri, 4 oysters, and 3 rolls if you eat in person (we've only gotten two whenever we've ordered to go). The yellowtail is always my favorite and the Snow White roll is my fav because of this. I love the tempura crunchies and tobiko on the top of the roll. The house hot sake is just okay, I much prefer the cold nigori bottles. The service is fast and the staff are usually friendly. We frequent this restaurant from Mountain House because it is THAT good. Service is amazing. The ladies who served us have always been really nice, amazing, and welcoming. The restaurant itself is clean, orderly, and inviting. The food portions are huge! Sushi is chef kiss and always so fresh. We always get the combo B for sushi and it is more than enough for 2 people to share. The oysters are so fresh and good and the sashimis as well. You can never go wrong with this meal. For this visit, I tried the Hamachi Kama which is the yellowtail cheek and it is grilled to perfection. My daughter had the chicken katsu and again, hefty portion. Since I have been trying to cut back on rice, I found the Island roll particularly tasty which used cucumber instead of rice in the roll. It was fresh and crunchy - really enjoyed this. This turned out to be the perfect amount of food for the three of us. The fish was fresh and service was friendly and fast. The chicken karaage seemed like a good deal based on the portion size. We ordered the following: Omakase set 4/5 - 10 pieces of Omakase Nigiri the sashimi cut were huge and fresh. The reason for the four stars is they were warm. When I ask why the fish were warm, they said they torched it. It didn't say that in the menu and I did not really want a warm Omakase. It took out a bit of the texture and freshness that I was looking for. Spicy Scallop Roll 5/5 - this was really good. It had the scallop in the roll with avocado the rice was just enough, which is good for me. The sauce they put on the roll was perfectly spicy. It was so good it has a great bite to it. Hamachi Carpaccio 5/5 - again they give you big pieces of Hamachi with some special sauce on it and some Tobiko on top and this was just perfect. It melts in your mouth.
