My overall experience was okay. The owner was extremely rude to me as a customer and to his staff. Customer service is important and should be respected. The customers have a mission just like the business does which is to get the job done. Edit: Yes, I did say that. I used Troy several years ago and had a decent experience, which is why I hired him again. Unfortunately, this time was entirely different. The plan for my move changed multiple times, often with little notice. He split the move across two days, which forced me to take additional time off work. The afternoon before the move, he changed the timing again, requiring me to reschedule meetings with contractors, make alternate arrangements for my dog, and adjust loading dock reservations at both locations. He did not care how these changes impacted me, only that they made his job more efficient. I also paid extra for packing services, and the kitchen was packed so haphazardly that several boxes were falling apart from being overfilled. He didn't pack the area under the sink at all. On top of that, he left behind a number of items that were clearly part of the move--including my trash can, step stool, and a container holding several blankets--without any notice or explanation. I ended up making two additional trips to retrieve items I had explicitly hired him to move. He presents himself as an expert, but his arrogance makes him difficult to work with. If you just want your stuff moved and don't care how it happens, he'll probably get the job done. But if you need to plan around a busy schedule, value communication, or expect basic attention to detail and follow-through, I'd look elsewhere. read more

I've used them twice for moves (during and pre-COVID) between DC and MD and they've done a great job at an affordable price both times. During Covid they required that everyone in the house wear a mask, and they were also wearing one. I highly recommend! read more

Buyer beware! Honestly that sums up the review. If you are looking for the equivalent of 5 friends and a moving van, then look no further; nope sorry, my 5 friends would have been better. This moving company showed little care for my belongings and customer service on the day of the move was horrible. The team came in and just started moving items to the van: they didn't wrap the furniture to protect it during the actual move, resulting in scratches and chips; they didn't remove drawers from dressers, and ultimately drawers fell and some broke in the process; we had to repeatedly ask/tell them to reassemble furniture (dinning table, screwing the legs back onto the sofas, etc.) I conveyed that one leg on the piano was weak and not to rely on the wheels, and Troy reassured me that "..this is what we do...we got this.." Well once they got the piano outside what did they do, they tried to push it because it has wheels, to which I quickly said please don't push it, and asked if they had a dolly which was followed by Troy's response of "..we got this..this what we do.." The crew was nice and respectful, but their lack of care and respect towards people property is a direct reflection of the owner and lack of training provided to the crew. This company should consider evaluating their consultation / intake process, to be transparent in what they can and cannot do, to get training on how to protect customer property, and most importantly improve their communication. read more

What started out pleasant ended badly. I reached out to this company via Yelp and received a quote within a reasonable amount of time. $1200 for Move and mountings of 4 televisions. Seems reasonable right? Maybe a day or two later, after confirmation of appointment, quote changes to $1375. I bit my tongue and despite my apprehension, I proceeded to pay my deposit. A few days before move, I contacted owner to see what the quote would be if I removed the tv mount services, mind you, he never gave me a breakdown of what the quote entailed for each service separately. He says $800+ (estimating). I say ok let's keep tv mounting because it wasnt a significant price reduction. He responds that the guy who does the mounting will be out of town. Fine, no problem. He also says he will reduce the quote by $300. I'm like ok even better. Now $800+ minus $300 is $500+.. I know math well. I guess a few days after the text messages, it dawns on him what he text me. So he texts me 2 days before move and bactracks saying my outstanding balance is actually the $800+ and that included the $300 price reduction. So at this point. I'm livid. I ask for my deposit back at this point. I dont like to play games. He tells me that I cant get my deposit back because its less than 24 hours before my move. Clearly homeboy didnt do well in math. Its June 27, my move date is June 29th. That's more than 24 hours. So i respond by saying let's move forward be is im not losing my money. He THEN tells me since there is a price dispute, that it is a policy to require full payment before services. How the fuck?! What fool pays for services before they are rendered?? Furthermore, I asked him to show me said policy in writing to which he replies, hes putting it together! Are you serious?? You cant make a policy up AFTER the fact!! What the fuck kind of business are you running!!! At any rate, I am not doing business with this company. Yes, he got my deposit, but he will not get another DIME, or Referral from me! Attempted to hire this company for a relative's move and experienced the worst bout of customer services in my entire life. First it was a high ball estimate of $1500 which I turned down. Then the owner came back with $1200 that I accepted. (This is just for a one bedroom move) He stated in order to get on the schedule 25% needs to be paid before scheduling in addition he tapped on a 6% fee that the app did not charge. (Perhaps that was a tip) Then he stated the service agreement would be sent in the next couple of days. That turned into 7 days and that is after I kept reaching out to see why I have not received anything. Each day I reached out, I was told I would receive the next day and the next day. That type of service is unacceptable when money is exchanged so, I begin to grow uneasy, I contacted the bank to advise them of my concern of a possible scammer. I reach out to the owner one last time to give benefit of the doubt and he became snippy, told me that I was not getting my money back and he will send the service agreement at 3pm and the move would take place. This is when my foot had to go down as I did not like his tone, or demand as it was not professional, customer friendly or legal since he failed initially to disclose this non refundable policy. Fortunately my spouse is an attorney and I have no worries that said monies will be returned to me but just the fact that there are businesses out here operating in such a manner is simply not acceptable. More people who know about companies who try to practice these types of antics the better people are prepared in protecting themselves. Please people. Protect yourself. There are so many moving companies to choose from that you don't have to subject your self to the mistreatment from one. read more

Since I first used We Move DMV in 2016, this is the only moving company I will work with! The owner, Troy, and his crew are incredibly professional, fast, trustworthy, and yet are much more reasonably priced than other local moving companies I've used. I first contacted them in 2016 with a last minute move request - the owner, Troy, got back to me quickly, gave a very reasonable quote and I went from panicked to having such a smooth, easy move. I just used them again this last week (again, their quote was affordable and straightforward with no surprise add-ons or fees) and they navigated my narrow staircases, limited parking, and small, tight spaces/odd layout with ease. No damage to my belongings or the walls whatsoever. They're also just really great people who are nice to work with and treat me and my home with respect - I had an emergency hospitalization and had to reschedule last minute - Troy was understanding and extremely reasonable in working with me on figuring out another date/time. Lastly, I would like to add that this is the only moving company I've ever worked with (and there have been many over the years!) that I would strongly recommend with 100% confidence to women living alone, young women, or anyone else who unfortunately is at risk of harassment or feeling unsafe. Each and every time I've used We Move DMV, Troy and all members of his team have treated me with 100% respect, professionalism, and I've always felt completely comfortable and safe being home alone while they're working. read more

Troy first helped me move a bed from Dupont to Petworth a little over a year ago. He was so pleasant to work with that I remembered him a whole year and a half later, when I had much more to move from a 3 bedroom into my new 1 bedroom -- a dresser, a coffee table, bed, mattress, box spring, a bike, a few suitcases and boxes. I had been recovering from illness and he handled everything independently and efficiently -- the whole move was complete in an hour. I will without a doubt call him another few years from now. I can't believe it took me this long to write a review. I used Troy about 6 months ago to move a bed and cabinet I bought off craigslist. He was smooth efficient and on time. It wasn't easy as I moved it from a 3rd floor walk up and I had to be at work. I completed trusted him to do the move and when I met him at my apartment after stopping by my office, everything was in place. He went the extra mile with everything. He was also very kind and respectful to my front desk people at my building which I so appreciate as we know how these people can be the turning point to our lives. This is an update to my previous review, dated 03/12/2019. To date, We Move DMV has still not compensated me for my bed. I sent him the receipt of the work performed by the technician and he said that unfortunately, he would not pay me, as he needed a receipt on the company's letter head. I got the technician to redo the receipt as he requested and submitted it to him and Troy has not responded. He has not picked up his phone to answer my call either. read more

Extremely disappointing experience with We Move. Movers were unrealistic and dishonest about how late they were running from another job leaving me with the option of waiting 2 hours past my scheduled time or doing the job on my own (which I did). I completely recognize that things come up and the situation at hand causing the delay was in some ways beyond their control, but truthful communication goes a long way and the customer service took this situation from frustrating but understandable to infuriating and unforgivable. To make matters worse, I voiced no complaints on the first two phone calls on which I was told it would be only 15 minutes more but upon expressing my frustration on the THIRD call pushing back my start time (45 minutes this time), whoever I spoke to was short, un-apologetic, and damn near hung up on me mid sentence. An extreme let down and overall negative moving experience and I had high hopes based on the fact that this seemed to be a company with courteous and professional individuals.
