Well. I've been wiring, building and welding my own everything since Jimmy Stewart was dropping bombs on Germany, so I usually know what I'm after in a place like this - in fact, Home Depot employees as ME where their products are. When I hit this shop (also known as "WE-Supply") for a few final touches on a project, I quickly herded myself into the aisles to hunt up the bits I was after. THAT is where the experience took a wrong turn (or hit a dead-end): I found most of what I needed except for assistance. One guy behind the counter was eager but new (and knew little), another was cagey and passed me off, and the third did the "I can't really help you now" dance (the one they do at Fry's during the Christmas season). I said my thank-yous, put the merchandise back, and went home to order from the Parts Express catalog for the 80th time. So, lots of neat bits but not lots of service. Pass. read more

This afternoon, I went in there for the first time. I was looking for something simple, just a few small packs of common 1/2 Watt 3K and 5K resistors (2.7K and 5.1K). They had plenty while Fry's was out of that range in all but 2 watt and larger. Wandering around is like being in a toy store. Wound up buying to other items that I really didn't need but couldn't do without. Other things I might put on my wish list. Staff is knowledgeable, if a bit rough, but I'll take knowledge over sweetness any time. Added benefit is that the are only about half as far from me as Fry's. read more

So Helpful! I brought in my broken toaster. I knew it was a wire i could only get from.an electronics store, but did not know how to put the new wire back on. Someone came to help me right away, Josh.helped me take take it apart, and he could see there was likely another problem. It wasn't fixable, but he did tell me how to fix what i came in for. Went on a wild goose chase for fuses for a water heater. Was sent to Many Circuit Breakers, Ferguson Plumbing and Dixieland... don't go there because they have limited items or just don't have it at all. Just go here. They have many different types in aisle 18. The salesperson was very nice and helpful. Thank goodness that you guys have this! Yay! read more

We got there at 5:02pm and Larry was locking the doors. My husband asked if he could quickly buy some banana plugs for our speaker system and even though they were technically closed, let him in and for that alone, Willy's gets 5 stars in my book. Thank god this place exists. Me and my coworker spent hours trying to buy a power supply for a CCTV system. I guess electronic stores these days are putting those type of items on "online stores" only. Well not Willy's, they have pretty much everything. I went to Fry's, Radio shack, and called up Best buy to buy a 24v power supply. Most had the same answer - either they didn't have it or go online and get it. Well sorry people.. but sometimes you need an item right then and there. A friend of mine that works at radio shack recommended the National City location, but we found this one on google. We stopped on by at opening and right at 8 am, they opened there doors. We were greeted by 2 friendly employees and they helped us locate what we needed. The prices here are pretty reasonable. I was here on business, but I might stop buy to get me some camera supplies for personal use. Highly recommended business. 2 thumbs and 2 toes up! read more

This place has everything I need, awesome and friendly service, and truly a playground for geeks to walk around and soak it all in. A MUST see if you are a tech.. 4 out of 5 because it is a little bit more expensive than I would want it to be (I work for a non-profit), but just being able to run there and pick up a cable is totally worth it. Came in to buy some capacitors for my LCD monitor. The guy was really nice and showed me where they were. and even looked in the back for me for one capacitor i was missing from my list. Came in the next day and they had a DVI cable to my newly fixed monitor that was like sold out at frys... Really friendly and they have a great selection of products and really good prices, IMO. I'm a total newbie when it comes to doing any kind of electronics work. I usually only do projects involving electronics when it's simple and straight forward. As luck would have it...my project got a little complicated. I realized the switch I was trying to use wasn't rated to handle the amps that the load was putting out. After asking around online I learned I needed a relay with a coil current under 50mA in order to still be able to use the switch. GREAT. What the fuck is a relay? Haha. So after I find W-E Supply via Yelp I figure I can go in, explain my problem, and hopefully they won't look at me like I'm an idiot. The result? They couldn't have been MORE helpful! One of the employees (I wish I would have got his name) Listened to my problem, helped me find an appropriate relay, and even went out of his way to draw out a wiring diagram and thoroughly explain it. Thanks for all the help and for treating a total noob with respect. I will be back again and again. read more

I was in a tight spot. My computer charger gave out and after checking every electronics store I could think of I went to WE Supply. AJ spent 45 mins looking for the right pieces, called 7 different stores for pieces he didn't have in stock, and ended up piecing together a charge that worked! Had it not been for AJ I would have been out of work for an entire week while a new charger was delivered. I HIGHLY recommend WE Supply and have considered naming my first born AJ. read more

I've never been to the main store in National City, but this branch is great for Radio Shack or Fry's type stuff: switches, hardware, tools, connectors, cables, heat shrink tubing, wall warts, etc. (Of course, unlike Radio Shack or Fry's, they're well stocked and the staff knows what they're doing.) Came in trying to buy a male pin connector that matched the female pin connector attached to an ignition switch. Was told by the female CS person connectors are on isle 21. Lots of connectors-none like the one I was trying to match. Went back to the desk she tried to help me look up the part---said she had no experience asked her male very snarky coworker for help. I asked how to determine the pin size so I could choose a connector that was in stock he said to just ,"eye ball it" Went back to him 2 more times trying to get help. These components are in sealed packages cant just eye ball. Super rude dude. read more

I can't believe I've never known about this place before: I came in looking for a tip for a power adapter, which they had in stock for about $5 less than Radio Shack. The staff was super knowledgeable and helpful, and I bought a multi-meter too. I've needed one for a while and their prices were as good as any that I've seen on Amazon. They also have a good variety of electronics for guitars and musical instruments, again at prices comparable with Amazon or other various electronics websites. This will definitely be my first stop LOCAL shop for all of my electronics needs... no shipping necessary! read more

Living in North County, I rarely find myself in San Diego. However, more and more I make special trips to Willy's. They have the things I simply cannot find at my local Fry's Electronics. More so, Willy's staff has much more technical knowledge than any RadioShack, Fry's and/ or Best buy. You never find a staff member who cannot help you. Even if you only get there once every 2 months, they greet you with your name. As an '80s mobile disco and electronics freak, here I find individual small components, meters, tools, power supplies and a big selection in any cabling + accessories in cat5,6, COAX, any audio for home or automotive. Having dealt with electronics since late '70s, I find Willy's prices very reasonably. I am so over anything Amazon now! read more

As a scanner and HAM redio operator, I had gone to HRO in Kearny Mesa to find some cable and parts. They didn't have a very good selection, so they referred me to Willy's which is nearby. What an amazing selection of parts, cable, and almost anything you might need in the electronics and communication and audio parts market. But what was really great was the staff. I visited 4 times over a week for parts, and was greeted each time I came in, and the desk staff were willing to take time to help me located the exact parts I needed, recommend cable, and even show me how to put specialty connectors on the cable. I went to the National City location. They had the slightly oddball power adapters I needed, plus an extension for one I had that was too short, so the wall wart can reach the power strip without an A/C extension cord awkwardly dangling off the table. They don't seem much set up for browsing, but I did note they also have some handy things like pro audio adapters, etc. Surprised I haven't found myself there sooner! read more

Needed a power adapter to replace the one broken for the external hard drive I needed to work with. Went to the store today and was able to find exactly what I needed. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, I also learned more information about how different power adapters work for external hard drive which was really awesome and made me feel really confident that I was getting the correct adapter for my external hard drive!
