Overall, I had a positive experience here. I decided to book my first appointment on a Saturday morning with my mom and--I would agree--heed their advice to avoid Saturday if possible. It was a bit hectic, and for someone a little more shy like me I wasn't totally comfortable stepping up on a pedestal in gowns I wasn't confident in in front of multiple groups of women! Still, my attendant, Rachael, was very nice and listened to what I liked and didn't like and continued to bring out new suggestions to get closer to the vision. In the end, I really loved two dresses (one was on my list, another was a suggestion), and I decided to take a little time to think about it before making my decision which she was totally fine with. She listened to my budget and stayed pretty close to it with the exception of one or two suggestions (neither was unreasonably out of budget). She was more than happy to help me in and out of the same two dresses multiple times in order to help me figure out what I preferred. She made sure to style the train perfectly so we could get a few photos.
My next appointment was on a Friday morning, which I would recommend. The salon was a bit quieter and I felt less intimidated. It also helped that I'd been there before and knew what to expect. Again, everyone was very kind. This time Kayli and Willow helped me and they were both so sweet and made me feel comfortable and sure of my decision. I actually just tried on one dress this time because I kept thinking about it after I left my first appointment and had decided it was the one! In and out in about 45 minutes!
My only word of caution would be to double-check the paperwork thoroughly before you leave! Somehow we accidentally got the wrong size dress on my order form (the sample size I had tried on, not the size we decided to order) and we didn't notice until we were in the car. They asked me to look at everything and I simply didn't notice until after I'd left when I checked it again. We went back inside and the ladies were SO apologetic and happy to correct the error, but I was glad to have double checked before I got all the way home. I later noticed my name was spelt wrong too, but hopefully that won't be any problem. Hopefully that was the only mishap and the order is placed correctly! Again, their kindness made up for it and it really wasn't any issue.
I recommend The Wedding Shoppe for brides trying to stick to a budget. I felt they had a lot to choose from under $1,000 and that they tried to make the experience a nice one for me and my mom. It's definitely not as fancy as some of the designer loft wedding shopping experiences, but that really didn't matter to me and I found just what I was looking for within my budget. I just wanted this experience to be simple and fun for me and my mom, and they made it that way. This is an important purchase and it is nice to be treated with respect at any price point. I recommend shier brides/ brides that would like a bit more privacy book a weekday appointment. I just felt a lot more comfortable in that time frame and on the particular day I went, the other brides simply had one person with them rather than an entourage!
Also keep in mind that you'll sort of be a part of a few other girl's experiences. The space is fairly small, with several dressing rooms... but then one shared area with mirrors and three pedestals where your guests will view each dress. It can be a tiny bit awkward to be a part of other groups, but for the most part I thought it was fun to see their selections and get feedback from the other moms and friends there. We were all in it together. I'm not sure if most salons are this way or not, but I'm not sure I expected it to be such a shared experience. I think it's also helpful to come in with a vision. I pretty much knew what style I was looking for so we were able to bypass a lot of things I wouldn't have liked.
Looking forward to trying on my dress again when it comes in! Thank you, Wedding Shoppe, for a positive experience! read more
