I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
I did my research before choosing The Wedding Shoppe to find my special dress and what I found were great reviews. I want to write this review to fix this mistake so that future brides don't have the same experience I had. Yes, the process of picking my dress was a great experience, that was not the problem.
My wedding is on October 17th. I picked out my gorgeous dress back in December. I was told that I would be emailed when my dress arrived. Perfect. So I waited.. and waited... and after months (which I did expect, of course) I called in to ask if they had any idea of when it would come in or any status on it's location. I was then told that my dress was there and had been for over a month. What? I went back and looked through all of my emails - checked junk mail, searched any word that could find me the email I apparently missed. Nothing! When I went to try it on I asked why I didn't get any communication from them on my dress coming in and we figured out they had my email wrong. Yes, that does happen, but I would expect that they would understand that a wedding dress is important, especially with the amount of money paid for one, and would call me after not hearing from me for so long after it came in.
After this mess I went upstairs to try on my dress that I was finally able to see again. I tried it on, almost, and found out they got me the wrong size. This witch came in, a short chubby one with white hair, and was so incredibly rude to me that she made me cry. She tried telling me that I gained 3 inches everywhere. No. I did not. I told friends and family about this and those who I had only known through classes at college to those I've known for years all agreed that I had stayed the same size since my shopping time, if not lost weight. This white haired woman made me feel horrible about myself, blaming me for gaining weight that I didn't gain. She blamed it all on me and said it was my own fault that it didn't fit. All she was trying to do was cover her own butt.
I was ordered a different sized dress and in June and received an email confirming it would come in on or before September 17th. Awesome, I'm getting emails from them now. I was informed that it would have come in by or before yesterday and I would receive an email along with a note in their computer that promised my mother getting a personal phone call about it. Just yesterday I found out that it came in. Luckily my mother called in yesterday, curious about it's status. She was told that it was in and told her that I couldn't come in before 48 hours so they would have enough forewarning, but my fiance had none of that. He called in and got me in there at 11 a.m today. I came down from Duluth to come and try my dress on and we asked about when my dress came in. August. 20th. They had it for almost a month and didn't have the decency to tell me. Again. I received no email and my mother did not receive a phone call. I had received an email about when it would come in, but not when it actually did? And again they let it sit there for a month until we inquired about it ourselves.
My wedding is now less than a month away and I just got my dress after ordering it back in December.
Absolutely disappointing, aggravating, and disrespectful.
I will never recommend this place to anyone.
I was also just informed that my bridesmaid's dress that she ordered from here (with her exact measurements) was also an incorrect size; a foot too long and she had to hold up the top so it wouldn't slide right off of her. She was told the Wedding Shoppe will not do bridesmaid dress alterations and will not be reimbursed for the alterations that shouldn't have been necessary in the first place if the Wedding Shoppe actually knew what they are doing. read more
