Chicken and sirloin steaks were so tender. Vegetables were not soggy or overly buttery. Portions were just right. I was impressed with this place. The menu is large and diverse. This place, for some reason, is popular. I don't get it. Ate there once, got a steak and potatoes, because I figured that was straight forward enough. Food was overly salted, potatoes were burnt and mostly inedible (it wasn't entirely clear if they were meant to be eaten or were just some sort of decoration). The whole thing came served on a wooden plank; a plate would have been fine. So when I hear people rave about this place, it makes me sad. I am by no means a snob when it comes to decor, ambiance, and presentation. Great meals can be had from roadside shacks and served in a styrofoam container. I'm willing to overlook a lot in the ambiance department if the food is good. Is the windowless building that appears to be lit solely by a fish tank my favorite look? No, but the real problem here is that it tries to be everything. Is it a diner or a steakhouse? A seafood place? Italian? Mexican? BBQ? Burger joint? Why does a small town diner need a 10 page menu? Because it can't decide what it is and so they try to be everything, and that's where it falls apart. When you have a 10 page menu, and you're in a town the size of Ste. Gen, what do you think the chances are of them being able to stock everything needed to make the 130 items on the menu if it's not frozen? This is precisely the problem you see in those TV shows where they try to makeover restaurants. The owner can't say no, so the menu just grows and grows, and the quality suffers. Take a hint from some other restaurants: refine your menu. Do a few things well. Figure out what kind of restaurant you are and be that. And for the love of god, stop smothering everything in that white cheese sauce. read more

Just finished a late lunch at Weeks and was not disappointed! I've been to Weeks a handful of times and every time the good has been excellent. The owner is the one and only cook, so if they are busy, it can take a little time to get your food but they will bring you peanuts or chips and salsa while you wait. The food is fresh and the portions large. I've had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich a couple times, the BBQ pork salad and the garden pasta- I would eat them all again anytime. I had the pasta today and it had more vegetables in it than I have ever seen in any other restaurant pasta. Fresh broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, tomatoes, cauliflower, carrots and more! Definitely worth the try. The only issues we've ever had here are with the waitstaff being particularly slow, but this go around they were all on too of their game. read more

When I got to Weeks Diner, I was shown a table and sat down and asked if I wanted anything to drink. Well, I had my own bottle of soda ( can't stand fountain) so I said...all I needed was a menu. I sat there for an inordinate amount of time to get a menu. They brought me nacho chips and salsa. I waited longer. Finally waited long enough. As I go to leave, I mention that I never got a menu. I was told it was online. But that did me no good, as I didn't have my phone with me. Went there for the first time because of the good reviews on here. We were seated at a a table and the waitress came 10 min later to get our drink order. I am 90% sure she was on some kind of a drug, along with all of the other waitresses in there. We ordered our food, and it was just ok.....nothing to write home about. We asked for bbq sauce when we received our food but I new that it would never come so I got some from a dirty table that had left. She never dis bring us any. I heard her apologize to the table next to us for ignoring them. 20 min later, she said the same thing to us. Well we waited 30 minutes for our food and when we got it the kabobs were burnt and steak was burnt. Knives were dirty wrapped in napkins. They only comped us for the kabobs and steak but I still had to pay for the sald that came with the meal as a side. Very disappointed. The waitress was not very friendly. Will not go back. read more

Week's Diner USED to be a good BBQ place. What happened? For one the service is slipshod at best. I wanted to try the smoked beef brisket again. It was fork tender and terrific the last time. I got a brisket sliced that was like "chamber of commerce" roast-chewy and not very much "smoke" taste. They also messed up the order royally. I got hamburger buns and a TON of BBQ sauce. I only wanted the brisket. Hamburgers are nothing special-no real taste whatsoever. I have not tried any of the other selections on the menu because of these experiences. Ste. Genevieve DESERVES a good BBQ restaurant in town. Weeks should cut 80 percent of its menu and CONCENTRATE on good burgers, ribs, BBQ pork, smoked chicken and turkey, plus brats. Get a REAL pitmaster in and a chef who knows what side dishes would be killer with BBQ and YOU WOULD HAVE A WINNER. If the Weeks family can't do it, they should consider selling the place to a passionate BBQ expert and staff. Until the quality (service and food) really comes up, and I mean REALLY, I won't eat there again, not recommend for BBQ. read more
