    Half smoke
    Steven T.

This local institution has been around since 1950 and is the original and only location left. I got the famous Half-Smoke with everything (chili, onions, mustard and relish). The half smoke itself had a great snap to it and was a little spicy with a good smoke flavor. Great stop along the bike trail for a piece of history.

Ordered a smoked chili, it was very delicious as I was passing by in my bike route. I didn't know what was a smoked chili and the worker kindly described it to me. I will be returning to try other items.

Finally visited after driving past for years (always wrong time or in a hurry). Located at a busy intersection, but has plenty of parking. Friendly Staff from Cashier to the Grill, interactive and helpful. Reasonable price and service was fast. No frills, old school type of spot that could probably use some love, but the look is part of the vibe. Some seating on the side (picnic type tables) where we enjoyed our lunch on a beautiful day with another customer. The 1/2 Smoke is legit, I liked the hotdog, wife did not. We ended up getting an additional 1/2 Smoke with everything. The Fries & Onion Rings complemented the 1/2 Smoke. Definitely will be back !!!

This is another establishment that I had gone by many times over the years but didn't stop at until very recently. Located in beautiful downtown Shirlington, it's definitely a working class joint. I ordered a cheeseburger and, bottom line, it was excellent. Certainly better than at the national burger chains. Weenie Beenie is a walk up and order place. There's no inside seating nor a drive- thru. Ordering is really casual, maybe to the point of being a tad offputting. What I'm saying is that the person at the window will have you place your order verbally with him. He does not ring you up nor give you a number. You kinda wonder if the order is gonna be filled. But it is filled, and rather quickly. Weenie Beenie takes both cash and cards. Yeah, I'd likely come back for another burger. They have various other sandwiches, including breakfast and cold cut sandwiches. But kinda odd, right now Weenie Beenie's online menu only shows breakfast sandwiches and a Philly Steak and Cheese. Trust me, they really do have burgers.

The yellow sign was calling my name. Weenie Beenie cute! A little restaurant that you walk up and take your food to go, this staple has been around for years. While near the area, I couldn't resist and stopped. I should have gotten breakfast but opted for a turkey club. The gentleman who served me was super friendly, the men patrons who were near all were respectful and made sure I had ordered. This place stays packed. It hasn't changed in 25 plus years since I've been. Let's get into it! Turkey Club - Decent Hot Dog - Get it Breakfast sandwiches - All are really good! Bite into happiness here, where comfort food comes to mind when I think of Weenie Beenie!

Haven't been here in a minute and was craving WB's half smokes. Greeted as I walked up to the window, easy ordering. There were two other patrons trying to beat their 6pm closing time. They have the outside decorated very nicely. Always a pleasure visiting this Arlington institution. Exchanged a quick conversation with the gentleman taking orders. Another patron came as I was departing.

Dude. Don't judge a book by its cover. This place has been open since the 50's and it definitely looks that way. But nonetheless the line is consistent (and pretty quick too) which should tell you something! I got the half smoke with all the fixings, SO good. Doesn't look like much, but trust. 10/10 There's plenty of free parking, and some picnic tables on the side of the building. Also a nice walking or biking trail along the Four Mile Run. Will 100% be back to try other menu items

This place was a bit disappointing, but it was an institution so we decided to try it out. There is no place to sit so it is a grab and go pick up window service situation. The food was cheap and when we got our half smokes we wished we ordered two because they were pretty small. The pick up window sells a lot of other food items so honestly felt a little sus to me. The half smokes were ok compared to Ben's Chili Bowl. Went once just to say I did and probably won't be back.

Today I ordered a HALF SMOKE with light Onions, Mustard and Relish. When I opened my Half Smoke and ate it was hard and chewy, granted I opened / ate it 2 hours after purchasing it. Somehow I don't believe it should've been hard though hehe needless to say, I still ate it / am going to eat it! The customer service is Great' he's always greeting you and food never takes long time make. Another great thing was the parking lot was clear of snow, after the DMV had the biggest snowstorm of the season.

Really cant say toooo much about this spot. Its a neighborhood eatery that you can go to for quick bites. I went and got a grilled cheese as a quick snack. id be interested to try their scrapple sandwich one day or cheesesteak. there is no inside, you order through the front window and the kind man will take your order and bring your food to the same window.

I have been stopping by for 25 yrs. The prices have gone up but the quality and quantity of the food thankfully remains the same, the folks inside keep working hard as ever no matter the weather, I'm so very happy they are able to maintain the establishment during these crazy economic times. Give yourself an indulgent treat and stop by for a bite to eat This is a classic dive, w/ much better than average menu items The half smokes have a nice bite to them, the buns are always soft and fresh.

It's difficult to criticize a NoVa institution, but this place is just okay. The service is great, the staff were very friendly. But all food was school cafeteria level or neighborhood block party level quality of food - powdered lemonade, overcooked halfsmokes and frozen or overcooked fries. Maybe I'm not the right audience or I got the wrong things. We orders the halfsmoke, bbq pulled pork sandwich, fries, onion rings and lemonade. The highlight was the onion rings, which you can tell were frozen but of good quality nonetheless. Not sure if I'll be back.

Phenomenal food for a great price. My boyfriend and I tried the half smoke, fried fish sub, and Philly cheesesteak. Everything was amazing! I highly recommend this place and I'll definitely be coming back

After being seated, we waited 15-20 minutes without anyone bringing water or checking on us. We eventually had to wave someone down before our waiter came over. We ordered mimosas, which were fine. I ordered the Honey-Dusted Fried Chicken, while my companion had the Mountain Morning Bowl. My chicken was pretty standard for the price point. My companion strongly disliked the grits, saying they tasted like "sewer water," and he didn't finish his bowl. The service was the biggest issue. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and had difficulty getting back to our table. Even getting ketchup and hot sauce required multiple trips from staff. We decided to cut our visit short and get our meals boxed. My companion never finished his meal. The ambience is cute, with a fun diner feel that fits the menu and price point. I also appreciate that they welcome walk-ins. I'm giving 3 stars because the prices, menu variety, and atmosphere were positives. However, the food was just okay, the service was disappointing, and I probably wouldn't return. Hopefully, this was simply an off day because the restaurant has potential.

When we made the reservation in advance, we called to ask if happy hour was everywhere or just at the bar; they said everywhere, so we booked a table. Plot twist, it's only at the bar / downstairs :))) We arrived 15 minutes early, so while they got our table ready, we ordered at the bar. 5 stars for the bartender. If I could review her, the host, and the happy hour prices in isolation, I would! They moved us upstairs, we sat down, and immediately saw the menus were different. We asked the gentleman bringing waters about happy hour and he sent the waiter over. The waiter, with about 2% helpfulness, shared that happy hour is only downstairs. I mentioned that we had called in advance to ask. We asked if it would be possible to have that menu or perhaps move. The conversation felt like pulling teeth. He said, with much dismissiveness, it was up to the host downstairs to move and if they had availability and left. (Fair, we move, he doesn't get his tip. An alternative? Give us the happy hour menu, still get your tip. Better yet, just be slightly helpful?) The host downstairs found us a table but shared it was booked at 6:15 so we needed to be in and out. It was no problem because we had arrived before 5 (early, remember?). Although, it took 15 minutes (I timed it!) for anyone to come bring waters or address us as their table. A little hard to operate with urgency when no one takes your order!! I got up, told the host stand, and they sent a server over, and he proceeded to come back all of three times. We also had to flag him down to get our check, while we sat with empty waters that were never once refilled. We had pizza, cod sliders, and half orders of aglio e olio pasta. The cod sliders were more breadding than fish, but the flavor was decent. The pasta was delicious. No five star Italian meal, but it hit the spot and the portion was plentiful. I didn't try the pizza but it was 12 inches, piping hot, and the two eating it couldn't finish it. The food came out quickly and hot. I think we spent under or just about $100 for four folks to have dinner + drinks, so the prices are really solid. Perhaps you get what you pay for though? Both of our male servers seemed annoyed to be dealing with us and mostly unhelpful. Noteworthy mention: there was a female server who was kind enough to bring us a brown paper bag for our to go box. She was running around and her tables seemed well cared for. Disappointed in my experience and the customer service.

That thoughtfulness is one of the many reasons I was excited to try it. When we arrived, I was initially concerned after learning that the "G" on the menu indicated dishes **containing** gluten rather than being gluten-free. Since many menu items were marked with a "G," I worried my options would be very limited, especially for the unlimited brunch experience. Thankfully, our server, Emma, immediately put me at ease. She brought me the food allergy menu, answered my questions with patience, and made sure I understood what was safe for me to enjoy. While my husband and I were deciding whether to stay, the manager, Antonio, came to our table after Emma shared my dietary concerns. His kindness completely changed the experience. He took the time to explain my options, offered to have the kitchen modify several dishes, and reassured me that their goal was for me to feel safe and enjoy my meal. Thanks to Emma and Antonio, what started with uncertainty became one of the most enjoyable brunch experiences I've had. I was able to enjoy a variety of delicious dishes, the mimosas were a great value, and the restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that fill the space with natural light. I was surprised by how empty it was for a holiday evening, actually just as strange by how vacant and empty the whole area was. This used to be a very busy area. I started with a White Russian milkshake and it was quite good. Again, that happy hour pricing really made it worth it. My meal was the chicken and biscuits. Large biscuits, fresh, with a little honey and hot drizzle. The hash browns were a tad dry and didn't quite fit the meal I thought, but the chicken biscuits were good. Enjoyed those. BUT one point that was quite annoying: THE GRAVY COST EXTRA! The server tried to upsell me with the sausage gravy (+$3) but when I asked if that cost extra he demurred and said it was just something they asked. He wouldn't actually confirm that. Not cool. I don't like being upsold like it's McDonalds. Eating off my friend's plate I also liked the french fries that came with his steak and cheese sandwich. We also had the cornbread appetizer. Again, if not for that happy hour pricing.. Cornbread is uber cheap so getting four fingers of cornbread felt.. well.. not quite a value match. Service was a little hit or miss. We had a lot of people helping us it seemed, kind of a divided table. Everything is there but I'm just not used to the inflation pricing. Milkshake, cornbread, and the chicken and biscuits, with 20% tip, came out to over $40. This kind of food, at this level of service, .. I feel like I was overcharged or not given the happy hour pricing on something. This just didn't feel like $40 for one person. And they want to do everything on the machine and you don't actually get a paper receipt or a bill unless you ask for one. Which you should. I guess bottom line: Ted's is expensive for it's class and offerings, so it makes a good date spot, but for regular eating out I think there are places better priced.

My sister and I visited for her birthday dinner and were excited to try the bottomless dinner experience. Our server was incredibly kind and attentive, and she made sure we were taken care of throughout the meal. Unfortunately, most of the dishes we ordered just didn't hit the mark. Some were overpowering, others lacked flavor, and a few came out soggy. My favorites of the night were the Tuna Crudo and Chicken Tikka Masala. I also made sure to let our server know about my peanut and tree nut allergy. She was very understanding and specifically told us that she would communicate with the kitchen to have the nuts removed from the hummus. Unfortunately, the hummus still came out with nuts on it. Thankfully, I caught it before eating it, but this is definitely an area where better communication between the kitchen and front-of-house staff is needed. Overall, I left feeling pretty underwhelmed by the experience. I think I'd still choose their brunch over their dinner offerings any day. Maybe I just caught them on an off night, but unfortunately, the bottomless dinner wasn't too great.
