Wegmans is my one-stop-shop for groceries and alcohol. The Wegmans in Chestnut Hill is closest to my home and I enjoy this location due to the surrounding stores located within the plaza and the store setup. My experience during my recent visit yesterday drove me right to Yelp to write a review. The reason for my review is to honor the Wegmans staff, specifically one particular employee, I believe his name was El, who went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help me. El was attentive, friendly, happy, positive and efficient. He went to the back of the store to bring out fresh crates of vegetables I had been searching for to let me hand pick each item. Additionally, as I was wrapping up my lengthy shopping trip, there was one item I wasn't finding which led me to begrudgingly choose the organic version of this item. El, as well as another employee, found me at the opposite end of the store, to hand deliver two counts of the item I had been searching for. I was so thankful for his efforts and care, I could have hugged him. I know that when I go back to Wegmans to do my routine grocery shopping, I can trust that these employees will do whatever it takes to satisfy the customer and get them what they need, and they will do it with a smile on their faces. Working in the customer service industry for so long, I am able to recognize exceptional customer service when I experience it, and that is why this store deserves a 5 star rating. I had never been to a wegmans before but I have heard so many great reviews. This weekend I went to do my full grocery shopping here and ended up staying for a few hours to go up and down every aisle. Probably not my best idea to go on a Sunday because it was extremely busy. First - I love the conscience of the liquor store on the top floor and groceries beneath so you can get everything you need on one trip. When I got down stairs I was surprised to see how large the store is. I initially thought it was just the prepared meal section so I was shocked when I turned the corner and saw a much larger store. I think a lot of the prepared food is priced very appropriately but there were definitely a couple items that seemed a little pricey. I had to limit myself and really look at the prices when picking things up. I typically spend about $60 on groceries for a week at stop and shop however I spent $110 at wegmans. I definitely grabbed a couple extra things I wouldn't normally find at a local stop and shop so that makes for the price difference. I can't see myself shopping here every week but it's good for specialty items. read more

Honestly this place is very small! I don't understand the hype! Parking is free and very easy in the front of liquiour store section/ area. The prepared foods takes up much of the store the rest is just crowded ( people and products). Very poor selection in the flowers area! Since it's new to the area the place is a zoo. Go early to avoid long lines! read more

People often talk about how the Chestnut Hill location is great. Have you checked other locations? Full fat milk at Natick's Wegmans is 50 cents less a gallon, e.g.. The CH location is OFTEN out of stock on veg, yogurts, fruit, pastas. The Natick location seems never to be lacking. This morning there was one line open at 7.30a..no one staffing it. Two employees nearby told me "he will be right back". Three minutes later by my iPhone, a man comes up, doesn't say a word, and starts scanning my groceries. Literally silent, until he turns to me and says "you can put the bags in your cart"..he had placed the filled bags behind him although my cart was immediately to his left hand side. I said "excuse me"..he said "bags go in cart". No one behind me in the line, no rush, just he wasn't going to do his job. When he finished, he said "here's your receipt". I went across the street to StarMarket and finished my shopping--they were fully stocked, three lanes open and the cashier greeted me, asked me if I found everything, and said goodbye. Admittedly Wegmans brands are cheaper (pasta sauce e.g.) but is it really worth it when their supply chain is so lacking nowadays (as compared to StarMarket) and the rudeness of the clerks so apparent? BTW, no one at the manager desk at that hour either. read more

Expensive, long lines, and the staff are rude. Two stars for selection of products and prepared foods; you can sometimes find unusual and hard to get ingredients here like chanterelle mushroom and fiddlehead. But I would be watchful when choosing what you want because sometimes the basics, like canned tomatoes, are really expensive. I'm unimpressed by the quality of the fruit; their mangoes, avocados, and pineapples are the same as you'd get at midrange competitors. Meat quality seems good but it's expensive. I also got double charged for a bunch of items on my tab once and needed to go back to the store to get it fixed. I wonder if other shoppers have ever had this happen and not noticed. read more

I bought steamers and scallops today for dinner. The steamers were so spoiled my refrigerator still reeks. How the seafood department employee could have the gall to fob this merchandise off on a customer is beyond the pale. He should be invited to consider how much happier he might be . . . elsewhere. Unless, of course, his behavior was due to following store policy . . . This store sold me rotten haddock in August, so I'm leery. One more occurrence will invoke the attention of Colleen Wegman, Paul Marra, the FDA, the Massachusetts Food Protection Program, and anyone else I can think of between now and then. I'm perturbed, but when I get angry watch out! On the other hand, today's scallops from Wegmans were as tasty as can be. Go figure! read more

When I come to Boston, MA for a visit I always plan a special trip to Wegmans to buy and take home Wegmans' pumpernickel bagels and Marathon Bread made with Organic Flour. I can always find there everything I need, from fresh fruits and vegetables, to organic meat, local fish, and made to order sushi. There is a great selection of local and international wine and beer at the Wegmans' liquor store which is accessible via an elevator across from the customer service desk. read more

I visited Wegman's Chestnut Hill yesterday, primarily to return a pharmacy item a friend had purchased for me. This was only my second visit to the store since it opened. I was immediately aware of helpful, smiling staff, waiting to direct me to the proper area of the store. I did some shopping -- found Meyer lemons at an incredible price and was quite impressed with the quality and assortment in the meat department. What really gained my life-long loyalty, however, is this: I had brought my lunch along, planning to sit in the "cafe" area after shopping, as I had some down time. Somehow I left my lunch bag (an insulated one) at the Customer Service counter when I was returning the aforementioned item and because I couldn't find it when I was checking out, decided I had left it at home. I left the store, did a couple of other errands, found my lunch bag NOT at home so I called them. A very friendly voice, belonging to Bob, answered my call. Bob assured me that, indeed, my bag was at the Customer Service desk. Now, here's the icing on the cake: when I arrived to claim my lunch (it was a VERY nice sandwich in my favorite "lunch pail"!), Bob was at the desk and, in handing over my bag to me, explained that he had taken the liberty of storing my sandwich in the fridge, concerned that it would go bad!! And all of this was done with kindness and a smiling face. As a sales professional myself, I know the value of customer service above-and-beyond the norm: the employees at this location, and especially Bob, have won Wegman's my allegiance for all eternity! read more

WEGMANS, i mean what more can i say really? The fresh hot food section is all my wildest dreams come true. Right when you step foot into this store you feel very welcome. The cashiers and food preps are really just the nicest people. They never judge on the amount of food you may have in your take out box. I usually go with my best friend who gets a little eager for more hot food to come out right at 11 and the food prep workers are really great at trying to get everything out as quick as they can for her. The food always tastes so fresh and delicious. They really have a great set up as well with the seats in front of the checkout lines that also have silverware and every condiment you could need. It is a great people watching spot. I mostly come here for the hot food section and then after me and my friend eat that, we continue up to the Wegmans Liquor store, which is great. They usually have some awesome tastings on the weekends and the prices they have there, you cant beat anywhere else in the city. Whether its a movie night and youre feeling a nice Sauvignon Blanc or a casual micro-brew, they have all your essentials! I will be coming back for more! read more

I find Wegmans to be better value choice to Whole Foods, with a smattering of Costco thrown in. They have a good share of organic products, from produce to dairy to beauty related. They provide family-size portions of meat and produce, etc. at competitive prices (hence the Costco connection). They also have Wegman branded products of almost everything that are of good quality and value, again similar to Costco's Kirkland brand. They also have a HUGE prepared foods section, but can't comment yet on how that is (I do much of my own cooking). Place gets mobbed during prime time weekend hours, but they have lots of checkout stations, as well as a multi-level garage. I've been receiving Wegman coupons, so that's a bonus. read more

This place is like a whole foods/BJ's Wholesale on steroids. I could literally get everything I needed in one mega complex (food, beer, wine, liquor, velveeta cheese... what more could you ask for!) Seriously though I wish this was closer to my house although it is well worth the 15-20 minute drive. I'm not sure why all the poor reviews here bashing this place. If you can't figure out how to park your car and enter the store then you've got some issues... hello big ass parking garage that is literally attached to the store with shopping carts right next to the entrance! I actually think the prices were pretty reasonable here too. The wine was certainly less expensive than you would find at any local liquor store. Don't be put off by the other negative reviews on here; if you're in the area check it out yourself! read more

I'm from Western New York, pretty close to the birth place of Wegmans. I know what a Wegmans experience should be. Chesnut Hill is not your usual Wegmans experience: 1) Prices are MUCH higher than other stores. Let me use the following as an example: Was craving a Danny's sub. Walked up to the sub shop and the sandwich was 13.99! I repeat 13.99. They also only have ciabatta which must mean this bread has gold flakes in it because last time I checked ciabatta was just bread. Other stores including Northborough price these at 8.99 OUCH what a markup 2) The store is smaller. The best part about Wegmans is it has everyone. There was plenty of items I am used to back home missing from their shelves. 3) The layout is uncomfortable. It opens up to a beautiful produce section well displayed but then you need to wander right for other items (besides breads, meats and seafood) and you feel like you're in a diffrent store. High metal Costco style shelfing with over priced items. Not a great Wegmans easy in easy to find feel. 4) Parking: I get it but I don't get it 5) Prices! 6) Holy cow the prices are higher. read more

The customer service is age discriminatory at this location! My wife and I have been Wegman's shoppers for 10 years, long before they made it to Massachusetts. I greeted the cashier at the liquor store with a bright hello, and received a "I need to see you ID". I get it but....she didn't even give me a chance to put down my purchase. She then walked away with Drivers license and said because I was under 30 she had to scan it in a system. I paid for my order and didn't say anything. I didn't receive a thank you, have a nice day or even a goodbye. she said nothing and glared. This place is an embarrassment to the brand and shouldn't even be called Wegman's. read more

Really like this market. Super cheap and it's clean. It gets a bit crowded and some of the folks that shop there are snotty but eh. You can't beat the prices. Their vegetable hummus is so good and today I got a pint of Edy's ice cream for 2.50! It's usually 6 bucks at Shaw's. Wish it was closer to my house though! read more

My mother is borderline obsessed with Wegmans. I am almost ready to schedule a Wegmans intervention with her. We finally tried it out last Friday night at around 8. Our hope was to avoid the apocalyptic crowds and, for the most part, we did. After listening to hours of Wegmans love from Mom, we were prepared to be impressed. I think she might disown me, but I'm going to say it: I wasn't. The parking situation? Not ideal, but that's partially our fault for entering off of Rte. 9 and not using the garage. But, Wegmans, it could have been a little more clearly marked. The entrance? Hard to find for us Rte. 9, non-parking garagers. A silver lining? It was nice to have a cappuccino while shopping. The store felt like a warehouse at best. A worst? Like a concrete bunker. Didn't love that. My first impressions were that it's a Whole Foods crossed with Shaws, but a little heavy on what I do NOT like about Whole Foods. The layout? The junkfoody premade options (chicken wings, pizza, and Chinese) looked good, but they were too prominent. I had to wander high and low with my tiny cart through the asphalt aisles to find the famed produce. And even there, I felt a little...lost. To be fair, I take some time to acclimate to a new grocery store, so perhaps I'm being harsh. I will also allow that the selection is excellent, the prices are fair, the employees were a million times more friendly than your average Shaw's employee, and if I were more in the market to belly up to the bakery and sample some seriously amazing looking pastries I might find nirvana there. But for me and what I buy, I tend to do better price wise and sanity-wise at the regular old grocery store. Like everyone else in a 25 mile radius of Chestnut Hill, we tried it. We'll be back. I've priced compared and Wegmans is usually cheaper than the competition. However, they don't sell as many brands and often only sell the larger containers. Wegmans is also out of items frequently. Vegetables are often emptied out and not refilled until the next day. Some items, such as a rice I buy, is not restocked for many days. Looking for a specific cut of meat? Don't count on it. Some items appear to be an inferior quality. Avacados are often over ripe and their gallon water bottles leak if tipped over in the car. In other words, don't count on Wegmans for specific items. You may need to go to another supermarket. read more

I go to the Wegman's in Chestnut Hill every few weeks. It has plenty of parking but gets crowded. The prepared section and to-go food is to the left of the store. You pay by the weight of your food and can quickly add up. It might be cheaper to go to SweetGreen next door. In the middle is fruit and produce. I always look for cut up vegetables and vegetable spaghetti. I like how you can buy in bulk here for city living. I get the 12 pack of the Wegman's Greek Yogurt. The downside is the lines are long and navigation through the store can be annoying. Staff are friendly but have heard them say that other stores (Whole Foods, etc) can better. read more

Great cheese section, wonderful prepared foods, good prices on some items and ok prices on others. It is still brand new so need to give it time to work out the kinks. And here is the great news even though Northborough might be bigger, this store is not a 45 min to an hour drive away. So right there it makes it better. The staff was so helpful. There were tons on carriages even on Sat am and staff helping you get one and return one. I bought a few of their own brands which were cheaper and good. I will definitely go back all of the time. read more

As an upstate New Yorker I'm supposed to be a die hard Wegmans supporter, alas it took me a move to Boston to break my Wegmans cherry and not surprisingly the consensus is positive. You have a new fan Wegmans. . I'm sure you've picked up 100+ more today your opening day in Chestnut Hill. I can see this store changing my life as people say and I'm jumping on the Wegmans bandwagon. Not sure if this is just a perk of opening day but super quick checkout process, staff and supervisors led me in the right direction with friendly faces on. Huge fan of the hot bar, salad bar and wings bar. This place is most likely going to be my go to grocery store for the future. Check it out it's lovely. Next stop: Wegmans wine and liquor store ;) I have a brand new shoppers card and forgot it but also guess I didn't need it... as only certain things are discounted and would benefit from having a card. Ok, here goes; Went to visit on a Tuesday at midday hoping to avoid the insanity. I did not. In all honesty, I can't tell you if this is a good place or not, because I couldn't effing move in here! It was way too crowded, I don't do well in crowds and was hating humanity before I could manage to get out of here with a few paltry items some 40 minutes later. Parking is a nightmare. If you park in front you have to go around the corner, to the elevators, and go down to get to the store. Having a cart and trying to reverse this maneuver is a horrible chore. I think I'll stick to the Star Market across the street for now. I had such high hopes for this place, alas, it's not meant to be. Too bad, Wegmans. read more

First off customer service is awful . Employees are rude and uneducated . Store is a cluttered dirty mess. My boyfriend who is of age to drink went to the liquor section upstairs and was denied alcohol even with a valid ID, which is crazy because when we first entered they gave him a sample of alcohol . The manager was very rude and cocky . Prices are extremely high and food is not that good and expires quickly . I would say save you time, money and patience and just go to Shaws right across the street . read more

Their separate liquor store (of course, because MA), is HUGE (as you would expect from Wegmans) and has a ton of variety in beer, both domestic and international. You can also mix up your own six pack, which I thought was a great idea if you're looking to sample a few different kinds or want to have someone else sample and try to get them into beer. read more

Wegmans is not a bad supermarket, but home delivery with INSTACART sucks. They are nightmare. Terrible. DON'T even try to use Instacart. You will receive items you didn't order and pay for items you didn't receive. read more

Thanks to Wegmans, I now look forward to grocery shopping every week. I am not familiar with Wegmans stores in general, so I don't know how this compares to other locations. I agree with some of the other reviews that the layout of the store is a bit odd. Also, the entrance is awkwardly located in the back; my first time there, I had to walk quite a bit to find the entrance. You can enter through the garage, or there is another doorway outside in the back. Despite that, I am a fan of Wegmans. It reminds me of a Shaws/Stop n Shop/Whole Foods/Trader Joe's; you'll find a wide range of food options ranging from lower-priced non-organic goods to more premium, organic foods. The prices here are much lower than what I've seen at other grocery stores. There is also a $3 off $15+ that circulates in the mail, which helps. Wegmans also has a liquor store attached with an enormous selection of wine, beer and spirits. This is our new go-to place for regular grocery shopping. read more

This place is wonderful. First of all it's open until midnight! Being in the restaurant business it's hard to pick up fresh/quality food late after work and Wegmans has made it possible. While some things are more expensive here, a lot of basic things, especially Wegmans brand are super cheap. $1.99 for a pound of butter? Can't beat that. They don't always have the specific/brand or flavor of what I'm looking for but who does? Their meat/seafood selection is awesome. Their produce is pretty fresh. Never have I been so passionate about a grocery store. Their prepared foods are lovely. Our favs include meatloaf, lobster stuffed salmon, crab cakes, Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and Apple yam cakes. Hot food bar is great. Sushi has a lot of choices. But prices are good for your plain Jane groceries. Pharmacy also has good service and a deal for $20 of free groceries when you fill an Rx. read more

This review is specifically for the floral department. Overall, I really like shopping here but would not recommend trying to special order flowers through them. Back in March I emailed Floral.Store124@wegmans.com to inquire about ordering 20-25 Singolo Orchids from them for my wedding which isn't until the April 2018. Ellie was incredibly responsive and said that wouldn't be a problem and we'd place an order in the fall. I emailed October 9 with finalized numbers and color requests but didn't hear back until Nov 1 from Patti saying that Ellie no longer works there and they cannot order Singolo orchids and if there was anything else they could do for me. I requested a different orchid and gave an increased budget. She emailed back Nov 3 saying she didn't know if they could order them in purple or white and would have to check; which is the last email I received from Patti over a month ago. Since then I've been into the store twice: once a part time employee told me I could order my flowers whenever I wanted except I should probably do it the month before our wedding because "we'll just lose the paperwork". No thanks. Another time I went in, the sales associate said I needed to speak with Patti because she couldn't process any orders. I followed up with Patti over two weeks ago and still have not received a response. My fiance and I have chosen to go with a fantastic florist: Centerpieces Design who've been nothing but helpful. read more

This place is filled with friendly, helpful, knowledgeable staff and despite being the smallest of the chain, it's pretty huge. Prepared foods are pretty good and the produce is great. Selection of goods is pretty good, too. Awesome sushi bar. Open at 6 am every day. Can you say breakfast pizza? Yummy Yum! read more

This places customer service does not deserve even one star! I hate nothing more then returning something that I have bought, but sometimes one has to. I had been given a hard time with returns with a receipt here before, but my experience was so upsetting today that I don't think I want to ever come back here. I had bought a two pound strawberries 3 days ago for $6.49, after I had washed them I saw that the inside of them was all rotten. I had to pick up a prescription here for my cat and I brought this box of strawberries back. I had also picked up a package of cookies that i notice was about to expire. Here is where the problem started. The young man at the returns was returning my strawberries at what was being charged today, it was .50 cents less then what I had paid for. He had to get his super Bob to override this. Bob asked me why I was returning, he opened the box and looked inside. The two of them made me feel like I was committing a crime. Then Bob got to the cookie and said it expired yesterday and didn't match the receipt, he refused to take it back. I said couldn't it be that the code for the cookie had been put incorrectly in your system? Why is it my fault that a store as large as Wegmans has to give their customer a hard time for just $2.25? I had just spent over $200 dollars picking up my cats medication! This is not how a family run store should treat a good customer! They need to go learn customer service from whole foods and trader joes where %100 percent customer satisfaction is their wish. read more
