My beloved Wegman's... Before you were around Star Market was the only other place that catered to my night owl shopping habits! I'm fortunate that I live so close by. The first experience was overwhelming and like many other people I entered through the liquor store, which is quite impressive on its own. I browsed all the aisles trying to figure out what all the hype was about. I wasn't sold yet, but a few trips later I'm in love! FYI the cakes are amazing! I got the marbled one for my SO's birthday and everyone including me wanted seconds immediately. What sets this place apart from all other grocery stores I've been to is the entire shopping experience. This place inspires me to try new brands and foods. I always find great deals with their wonderful family packs and weekly/monthly coupons. Somehow they are able to satisfy my desire for bulk shopping and specialty food items. Plus it's always a bonus when there's a liquor store with discounted prices too! I can get all of my shopping done in one place. Oh, and as a proud bargain hunter, I've also scored some amazing deals on the clearance/discontinued items that were 75% marked down! One annoyance I had was that Wegman's would pre-charge you for bottles and cans deposits so it actually turned me into a hardcore recycler so we don't lose $ on our beverage purchases. Now they no longer give out plastic bags (good riddance) and only bag with paper bags I think that's the city wide policy. Wegmans and Whole Foods should be sisters. Organic things in every corner. It's on the pricier end vs. Trader Joes/Stop and Shop with less sales. Not that this would matter if you're into the whole organic movement. The first floor is the winery while the basement is the actual grocery store. It's a beautiful super market with the feels of a gourmet market. Fruits and vegetables are very fresh, and there's plenty of independent brands beyond the usual giant corporations. It's a little overwhelming stepping into these gourmet markets because there's literally very little products I recognize, thus prolonging the grocery shopping experience. I'm very much a grab and goooo kind of person. Excellent place to grab party trays or family packs. The pre-made bakery cakes and pastries are so pretty. The hot meals are enticing though very easy to go overboard at $8ish/pound. My scoopings of chicken red curry + rice + water spinach came to $14! Buffet flashbacks... There's a pharmacy and a very extensive herbal and supplements section. Everyone working here looks happy. Fun fact: Wegman's has one of the highest paying rates to work as a pharmacist per my man. I started shopping here more after Russo's closed. Unfortunately, shopping in this store can be maddening. I honestly don't think I've ever gotten everything on my shopping list. I like playing the "guess which item I'm NOT going to get today!" game and I'm always surprised at the pick of the day. It is not unusual for produce like onions, bananas, tomatoes to be out of stock. Leafy greens are almost always wilted, that's if shelves aren't bare. I was delighted when this store opened given my experience going to one in upstate New York, but this store disappoints in many ways. I often now save myself the time and frustration and trek over to Dedham for a much more pleasant shopping experience. read more

I was excited to learn that wegmans was so close to where I just moved. The selection of produce was amazing. You could get just about anything here. This place is huge with a alcohol section up top. This was my first time here and location and selection I'd give it a 5 star. But yes I am giving this a 3 star experience Why? Well during my check out I was told by the femal cashier "you have to stand back". That's fine as I understand we are in a pandemic. But she keep telling me to stand further and further back until my back was on the candy stand. Even then she was saying please stand back. I guess I was okay with that since I didn't want her to be uncomfortable. But what I realized was the person before me had a whole different treatment and she happened to be a caucasian female. Initially I thought it can't be because I'm asian at least not in this area or modern time. Well the person behind me was a Caucasian male with his daughter. After I paid I decided to just watch for a minute. Well well well, they had the same texact treatment as the lady in front of me. Additionally, the gentlemans daughter got fairly close to the cashier ans she seems fine. Not sure if I'm over thinking but definitely felt decimated by a wegmans employee. This place was insane the first trip I made to this location this weekend. Granted, it was before the Super Bowl and Chinese new year, so that MAY have something to do with it, however this store was cleared out, half their produce was completely gone. I couldn't find basic veggies I came for. Some aisles were half empty. It was pure chaos. The lines were enormous and going into aisles, they only had like 3 registers opened. I was in line for my 10 items for at least 30 minutes, I've never seen anything like it. The Chestnut Hill store has become a miserable experience. Stockers crowd the aisles & abandon their wagons in tight spots for ages. No matter what time or day I go, I find depleted shelves everywhere. Their fish has always been very good but they're no longer competitive with other high quality fish purveyors like WF or Legal. They keep moving produce locations around. They're very lax about displaying prices, especially for produce. Organic produce is of iffy quality and not abundant, and exorbitantly priced. (example: seeded cucumbers--conventional today were $.79 apiece, organic were more than double at 2 for $3.99. Items (non-produce) are very often shelved at 6 feet from the ground. Bins labelled "organic" hold conventional produce. Whew. Exhausting, unpleasant place. read more

Very disappointed with Wegman's Chestnut Hill location. My husband, daughter and I went in their spirits store to purchase some alcohol for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday and the cashier would not allow us to purchase any of it unless we all produced IDs. Now of course I am totally on board with being carded if you are the one buying alcohol. My husband had his license and I was more than willing to get mine out of the car, but it was pointless because he wanted an ID from my 16 year old daughter as well, who doesn't even drive! Here's are my issues, he was rude and took way too much joy in turning us away. Secondly, we have not had this issue before at Wegman's, so at least be consistent with your rules! This Wegmans was a 4 or 5 star grocery store for the first couple of years it was open. Their app made shopping a breeze and was very useful for getting you in and out with the items you wanted and I went to this store or the Westwood Wegmans almost weekly. About a year ago the app was updated and was terrible and has not returned to it's formed glory. I stopped using it and stopped going to Wegmans except a few times a year and now do most of my shopping at Star Market. Today I went to this Wegmans to pick up four things since I was right near there - only one was in stock but I found another couple of interesting items that I hadn't planned on buying. Their Covid-19 policies are ridiculous. The aisles were crowded and so far as I could tell they were not one way like Star Market. So you are passing by a couple of feet from other shoppers (but you're wearing a mask so maybe not that big a deal). The registers have plexiglass (good) and labels on the floor telling you where to stand and signs telling you to put items on the belt from the far end. Then there's a chain across the checkout aisle (for whatever reason) that makes you feel like you're a prisoner. This has to be unleashed so you can exit. So you have to touch the latch that the customer in front of you touched and the next customer will have to touch it and so on. Now comes the best part you cannot exit to the parking garage through the door you came in apparently so you don't walk by the people coming in as a Covad-19 prevention strategy even though you have been walking up and down crowded aisles beside people going in the opposite direction (did I mention that's what masks are for). And a "Covid-Police Officer" is standing there telling you you can't use that exit and you must either go up to the Wegmans liquor store which is one level above regular store parking or out the exit that leads to the outdoor parking and then walk "a couple steps" (wrongl back into the parking garage and to the elevator if you parked on a higher level than one. Fun if you are pushing a cart - luckily I only had one ripping paper bag (see last paragraph below). The same "Covid-Police Officer" appears to have a clicker or other counting device to make sure the maximum capacity of people isn't exceeded but who knows what that limit is because the place is packed. And lastly this maybe more a Newton thing that a Wegmans issue but if you don't bring your own reusable (potentially Covid spreading) bag you are charged 10 cents per paper bag that rips plus 1 cent sales tax on the bag. read more

Guess I'm officially adulting, because weekend trips to Wegmans have officially become the highlight of my week. Three words: insanely ginormous blueberries. I've become so impressed with the size of Wegman blueberries that I felt the need to start a series on my Snapchat documenting the absurdity, entitled #blueberrychronicles. Please refer to attached photos to see for yourself. Must try: fresh squeezed tangerine juice (not to be confused with orange juice). It's $15 for 1/2 gallon, which is quite expensive but I try and justify the price by telling myself I need the vitamin C, and it's this or scurvy. Wegmans has the best looking produce selection. Everything is always fresh and crispy. They carry a lot of their own brands so sometimes the selection is limited but I can usually find what I am looking for. Their prices are competitive. We used to live in Philly for many years and Wegmans were very common in the area. Since moving back to Boston, I was surprise to see them showing up slowly around the Boston area. Always love their diverse and fresh selections of products. Whenever my husband and I miss Philly, we just go to Wegman to bring back all those memories again. read more

This was a blink and you'll miss it Wegmans. Seemingly tucked away amidst the other shops they do have plenty of parking on the other side. Smaller than the Wegmans I normally go to, I didn't love the layout. It seemed like they didn't have as much variety as the one in Burlington. Aisles were also more tightly packed, busy and harder to navigate. I only bought a couple of items but prices were similar to other locations. I probably wouldn't stop again but only because I have a nicer one closer to home. If this is it in the area for you then I totally recommend as they always have good products and unique items. read more

087 / 100 - 2018 YELP 100 CHALLENGE. Before I moved to the east coast, a lot of my co-workers (who were originally from the east coast) warned me about the beast that is Wegmans. For those who may be stumbling across my review with no context, Wegmans is apparently a cult over on the east coast. People live and BREATHE Wegmans here. It's kind of crazy to see. It seems like the biggest appeal of Wegmans is that it has (almost) everything. Looking for some generic, name-brand product? Wegmans has it. Looking for some niche, super bougie [insert item here]? Wegmans (probably) has it. Except for artichoke dip. That is the one thing I couldn't find there. This is the only Wegmans I've been in thus far and I want to start off by saying that it is HUGE. It has two floors, downstairs for food/pastries/products/pharmacy needs and upstairs for all alcohol. It's very, very overwhelming. The first day I came in I had no idea where to really start. Honestly, I've been there a handful of times and I STILL have no idea if I've seen or explored every aisle. There is so much to do and see here and they've got a great selection to get through. This place is always, ALWAYS packed when I'm here. Every employee that I've spoken with has always been incredibly friendly and upbeat. If you're looking for something in particular, they will move heaven and earth to help you find it. The customer service here is stellar (though that seems to be common for all Wegmans - they go above and beyond!). I do want to note that this place can become a war zone pretty quickly. The parking lot is... nightmarish to say the very least, so combine that with a lot of awful Massachusetts drivers and I have witnessed a lot of pedestrians almost getting run over or people narrowly missing driving into one another. It honestly makes me crazy anxious driving through here. Aside from that, Wegmans is pretty cool and I can see the appeal it has to the masses. I'm a native western New Yorker who will and does drive 30-45 minutes just for the Wegmans cleanliness, variety, and service. Today I stepped foot in what just may be the greatest of all Wegmans that I've ever seen. $999.00/lb truffles. Assorted cherry tomato dispensers. EVERY TYPE OF MUSHROOM YOU COULD IMAGINE. FOUR different types of frozen seafood burgers. The most insane Mediterranean bar EVER. Super clean and fancy restrooms fully stocked with whatever restroom stuff you might need. Here's my special tip for Wegmans: Come prepared. Have a list. Know what you need. Don't shop hungry. It's easy to get sidetracked. Before you know it you're up to your ears in salt water taffy and blueberry mini muffins and fresh beets and fresh made black bean burgers and you just ordered a sub and you just spent $239.76 when all you needed was deodorant. read more

I've arrived! Goodness gracious, where to I begin? Sushi & sweets & salads oh my! Upon entry there are several hot foods stations that include varieties such as Asian & vegetarian, along with a coffee bar that serves delicious coffees, smoothies and frappes. I noticed items such as lobster rolls, lobster bisque and a giant soft pretzel covered with lobster meat. It looked scrumptious & I think it even winked at me. My favorite stations were the cheese station and the vegetarian hot foods- where I made a delicious lunch plate consisting of Asian chicken-less bites, noodles, perfectly seasoned tofu and a bunch of dark green veggies. The bakery had the prettiest desserts ever consisting of cakes, cookies, donuts and whatever else you can think of that would ultimately satisfy your sweet tooth for the rest of your life. And that's all on the first floor. What's on the second you ask??? Any and everything for people over 21 years old. Enough said. Its alright with me. Prices are fair to ridiculous, I bought a small container of organic fresh spinach for 2.50. Small container of roasted veg was 8.00? Prepared foods are generally overpriced. I was shocked at the chicken breast cost too. Natural or organic foods are about the same as anywhere, but the freshness doesnt always look great, had a hard time finding an orange that was actually orange the other day. Yellowbrown just doesn't sound or look appetizing. Still it has what I need, organic milk and veggies, eggs, bread, coffee, radius toothbrushes. I am a fairly easy to please grocery shopper though. Wegmans brand is generally pretty good. Overall Id say its like a Whole Foods and Stop n Shop had a lovechild that got the worst of both, but has an adorable set of dimples that is just irresistible. Ok enough with the weird analogy. Wine and beer upstairs. Checkout can be slow, or fast, usually slow. Cashiers cant check IDs? "Eat Well Live Well" Wegmans is automatically a 5 star grocery store, no wonder why it's always packed! If Stop & Stop or Shaws or any grocery store was closer to me than Wegmans, I'd still travel the extra miles just to shop there. From prepared foods to fresh produce to fresh meats and a variety of household items, you can find literally everything here. The first time I went in, it was so big I didn't know where to begin! Prices are noticeably cheaper than other stores, which is a plus. They also always have employees in multiple registers, unlike some stores where they are understaffed so you have to wait in line for 20 minutes. There is a dining/seating area which is great for anyone that wants to grab a quick bite/getting lunch during break. Wegmans is the true definition of a supermarket! Just made the opening day at Wegman's. Have never been to a Wegman's but have only heard great things. Was surprised the line was not longer when I arrived about 45 minutes prior to the doors opening this morning at 7. However, as cold as it was outside the line got long fast. I did a quick run through and picked up some flowers and some bakery items. Everything looked great. Lot's of staff on hand. Because it got crazy fast in there I was glad I did not come with a grocery list. That's for when the hoopla dies down a bit. One thing I hope they do is open the entrance/exit via Florence Street. Would make getting in and out for some of us locals a bit easier I know there are probably issues with Brookline about using this street as in-out for Wegman's and this plaza. Looking forward to going back and getting some of those ready to eat meals. read more

May 2nd was a great sports day. Sox/Yanks, Kentucky Derby, Golf, and one more thing....oh yes, a fight. My man day involved two different house parties, a veggie tray and some take-out pizza. Meanwhile, Tom Brady's man-day (even he left his wife at home) involved a private jet and live events in two states! My horses didn't win and I wanted to see a knock-out in the fight, but it went to the judges. Oh well, we tried. At least I won poker and had some fun. About that veggie tray: stopped in for said veggie tray and ended up getting Mochi Balls (japanese sweet, soft balls made from beans and rice flour) and some peach brandy from upstairs (added lemonade) as well. if you're coming from Rt 9 this parking lot is busy and a little confusing the first time. The Wegman's store isn't in the building that the sign is on. It's in the back near the Equinox building. Also, the Wine and Beer sign is almost easier to spot than the Wegman's sign.....finally, when you walk in you will be in the Beer and wine store...the grocery store is down a level. So if that's what you want, you're off parking around back on that level. Fresh food looked great though. I tried to convince my derby-viewing companions that we wanted an entire octopus but to no avail. I would go back for sure if I lived near there! (I'm sure I'll find a way). Veggie tray was an A+ - there wasn't an undesirable veggie on there (no brown spots). I can see what all the hype is about! read more

There are so many things I love about Wegmans. First of all, its like a bajillion markets rolled into one! You have your full bakery, fish peeps, a butcher, sushi station, cheese galore, buffet area, and also wholesale prices on tons of regular items. Not to mention a bigger selection of gluten free items than I've found at any other grocery store. This is not comparable to the store in the metrowest. This is a baby compared to that. I don't live out there now so it doesn't make sense for me to drive out there for the Wegman experience. Cheapest market for store brand milk (tastes perfectly fine) and Lactaid. Cheapest for organic lamb rack and it comes out pretty darn good after cooking it. I find their produce pretty fresh and lasts in the fridge. I like buying their meat since it's vacuumed packaging so it actually lasts in the fridge instead of being oxidized. I buy their steaks and fish. Their fish market is wild caught mostly. It's more of trusting their quality that I wont get sick or food poisoned since I have the tendency to eat food more on the less cooked side of the scale. Their rotisserie chicken is a bargain and tasty! Honey brined chicken not for diabetics or people that need to watch their sugar intake. It's juicy and flavorful. It's great for lazy to cook days. It's usually fresh going right after work. I wish this store is bigger but it is suffice for everyday cooking and along the way home from work. read more

Growing up in South Jersey, Wegmans has been the go-to place for my family to get groceries and food! So once one opened up in Boston I was so excited (even though it's a little bit of a drive from my apartment in Brookline Village, sometimes I would go their just for the nostalgia and to feel at home). I love the vibe at Wegmans and the store is always so clean and well-organized that it makes grocery shopping more pleasant and enjoyable. If you were to get anything from Wegmans, it would be their crab cakes...they are honestly the bomb there! Even better than some restaurants I've been too so don't underestimate them!!! They not only have groceries, they have a cafe area where you can get already prepared meals all day! The cafe just adds a little something that makes the store feel a lot more homier, which I always look for in places that I go to shop or eat. Overall, cheaper than Whole Foods, but slightly more expensive that TJ's or StopnShop (if price is a factor for you), but the quality of their food is spot on. read more

Wegman's kaiser rolls - there are maybe only a few places that have similar type rolls in Boston. I don't know why that is. And I need Boss Sauce. I've been to this store several times and used delivery. 90% of the time there are no kaiser rolls left. Come on. Everyone can't get there when you open. I've been there at 10 am and they are still gone. What about those who stop in after work. At least have them in a 6 pack. It's really infuriating. I will have to continue to count on Stop & Shop & Star's rolls which are good but not the same. read more

My partner and I are both from Connecticut. But when we were in the Newton area visiting friends and family for the holidays, he would NOT stop talking about Wegmans. I'd never been in one but he insisted we go. The first thing you notice is the plethora of prepared foods when you come in. Literally everything you can imagine. We wandered around for a while and were impressed with things like their selection prosciutto. We also found that we really like their brand of Greek yogurt. Their prepared foods are pretty good. Their seafood left something to be desired though. It wasn't as fresh as other places. And I felt like a lot of things were very overpriced with a handful of good deals. Unimpressed. My major complaint is with the pharmacy at this location. They are extremely slow and inefficient. When trying to place an order for home delivery of meds over ten days ago, they claim only to have shipped the prescription three business days ago. What would they have done if it was something life-threatening, like stroke medication? Just let it marinate in the postal system while the person who needs it suffers? The staff here cannot be playing with people's fates like this. If it was processed at the time the home order was placed, it would've already arrived, but now what? Seriously be warned about getting home delivery from here if you're running low on meds, it will take twice as long as you think :( read more

As far as Wegmans' locations go this one is pretty small. I mean really small, I mean smaller than some of the older Wegmans' locations in upstate New York, not to mention the 24 hour locations I usually go to, but I digress. The selection and organization of the store is very close to the it's larger sisters but I think that catering to a more pretentious Whole Foods shoppers is a mistake. There is a large section devoted to thd cafe, and while that's nice I think it comes at too high cost for other sections. The meat section is small... I think it actually way too small for what it should be, though it is compensated by the fish and seafood section, which may be a reason for it's small size plus there are no family discounts that I am used to seeing in Pennsylvania locations. There is also an aging cabinet, which for the size of the department is overkill The product selection is similar to othe Wegmans' stores I've visited but it is a bit cramped, though I can't say I am surprised since land is at a premium. Overall I got most of what we needed but had to go to our own location to get us some meat.... read more

Unbelievable!!! I love this place! Super friendly people who work there too. Tons of organic food and healthy food that is fresh and amazing! Wegmans has their own brand and it's cheaper than the others. The hot bars and pre-packaged meals are awesome and the prices are good too! Also, I love how earth friendly they are. Wine upstairs on the second floor. That's right. I said second floor. This place is huge and i heard it's one of the smallest ones. I wish there were more of these around the south shore! I do like this grocery store. The prices are good, the Wegmans-branded products are great, love the app. BUT I have never had worse bagging in any other grocery store. I get that it's not cost effective to hire baggers anymore. But the check-out associates are terrible at it. They are slow, and worse they don't know how to put things together. I've had ice cream squish hamburgers, bananas crush scallops. And I've raised this issue with management multiple times. It hasn't gotten better. I'd rather just bag my own groceries--it would be faster and at least I'd know where my eggs are. The cashiers at Wegmans often don't tell you where they put them! read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I did a pickup on TUESDAY for Saturday (Xmas eve) for 12-1pm pickup. At 10am I get a txt that my order is postponed because no shoppers and they'll txt when they start shopping. It's 2pm and I've still heard nothing. I call the store and he asks name and checks the queue to see where my order is. He says that my name isn't even in system and must've gotten pushed to MONDAY. Ok this order was for Xmas with my family and an hour after my pickup time they tell me that I should just cancel the order. Absolutely ridiculous and horrible. Don't oversell your time slots if you can't handle the volume! Forced me to postpone my trip back to NH and had to go to the grocery store where everything I wanted was sold out. read more
