The pro's and con's of Wegman's: Pro's - Best beer selection - Best wine selection (w/ wine tastings!) - Best cheese selection - Best bakery - Best deli - Best prepared foods section - Best Produce - Best Everything - Comparable prices to a normal grocery store - Short lines (they have more than 2 registers open like other grocery stores) Con's - It's so big that my girlfriend almost had a panic attack when she went here for the first time. I guess if you just need some milk it's not worth walking the 1/4 mi. to get to the back of the store. - No pepper jelly---I guess people really don't care for pepper jelly. Pro's: its like Whole Foods and a safeway all in one, and it has a lot of prepared foods. Con's: It's stupidly huge, and normal foods like what you would find at your local Safeway or Giant are about a 1/4th of the store and a whole isle is just Soda... beyond a wast of space. It lacks verity of non gourmet food stuffs. I have better selections at the tiny Harris Teeter by my house in Arlington. On the level of gourmet and natural foods there is OK verity, but nothing to wright home about. Its also over priced for most of what they have, I find things cheaper at Safeway and Harris Teeter. Also the check card is need if you wright a check... what is this 1980!?! Notes: I don't live right in the area of Woodbridge, and while I know some people drive down just for this store I wouldn't, shoot I won't even stop off on my way back from Ikea if I need something, I dislike it that much, its kinda like Gaint I just don't shop there. I shop Whole foods and like it and there brand I find to be less then Wegmans brand. Now I know Wegmans is nicer than the tones of food lions, and bottom dollars in Woodbridge. read more

The best grocery store. Huge selection of food. Solid wine selection. Clean and wide aisles. Compared to the usual fluorescent lit purgatories of cans and cereal boxes, it's pleasant to shop there. Also, the restaurant areas offer such a wide selection ready to eat -- fish, deli, fast food, Italian, Indian, Chinese, Thai, etc. -- that it makes as good a place for lunch or dinner as it does for grocery shopping. Other grocery stores should model themselves after Wegmans. It would make shopping each week a lot less of a drag. read more

Wegmans may be the happiest place on earth. I remember the first time we went in to the store and we were just in awe. The way the entire store is set up is so perfect. They pair foods perfectly, have an amazing craft beer and wine selection, and just about every specialty food you could imagine for all types of diets, vegan to gluten intolerant. The food options are great. If you don't have time to make dinner because you were working late, you can literally grab an entire cooked dinner and bring it home. Their seafood is fresh, their mediterranean bar is amazing.... I cannot brag about this place enough. I am only sad that it took me 30 years to know it ever existed..... and I may never want to live anywhere that doesn't have one again. read more

Three strikes and I'm outa there! 1.) Bad pre-packaged meat. I have repeatedly bought packaged chicken, pork, and veal in the vacuum sealed packages that smelled bad when opened. Probably in total over $50 worth. 2.) Produce: The vegetables are not nearly as nice or fresh as what I find in the local Shoppers Food Warehouse, believe it or not! Not as cheap either. 3.) Wine: If you buy wine at Wegmans and happen to get a bad bottle, you will not get a refund or exchange unless you have kept the receipt. Better to buy wine at Total Wine where they stand behind their wine, no receipt needed. Loss of $45 (so far), I have bought a good bit of wine for my wine cellar, so I have several more cases purchased at Wegmans that will be opened at some point. I have spent thousands of dollars on Wine at Wegmans and can't even get consideration for a couple of bad bottles? If someone had bought $3,000 or $4000 worth of wine from me and said that three bottles wort $45 was bad I would have given it to them as a gift! I could have overlooked one or two problems but these are consistent and chronic, I have shopped there since they opened and have noticed that the quality has really gone down. I'll be trading elsewhere, too many problems too many losses. read more

This review goes to how i was mistreated when purchasing some wine. I went in the store at about 9pm to purchased a bottle of wine. I handed the cashier my ID and she asked to see my GF ID which was standing next to me. She had left her purse at home becuase we were doing a quick run to the store. I explained she does not have have her ID and the cashier said she cannot process the purchase. I told her she cannot do that and I demanded to speak with her manager. the cashier began to defend herself by saying that when people our in groups they need everyones Id. We are a couple not a group of teenagers. I I am 30 years old and my GF was 28 we explained the situation to the manager and she let me buy the alcohol. read more

This is the best grocery store in the area. I love going here! This is our go-to place for any good fresh fruits & veggies. Also, the hot pre-made food is YUMMY. It can be a little on the pricey side at $8.49 (I think) per pound, but when we are hungry and want something quick and delicious, my husband and I eat in at Wegmans. Maybe not the classiest date night (ha ha), but it is always very tasty. Their pizza is actually really good too...surprisingly some of the best pizza we've had in the area. And oh my goodness, TRY the triple berry crumb pie. It is one of the best desserts I've ever tasted. LOVE Wegmans. Glad we have one in the area. read more

Going to Wegman's has always been more of a treat than a chore for me. Every weekend mornings around 8am, we go have some coffee and relax upstairs in the lounge area. Way better and quieter than the Starbucks a few blocks up. One thing though, very minor, is to make sure to emphasize if you want frozen or iced drink. Sometimes we get the hot version instead. Love the EZ-Meals! From $6-$8, the quality and flavor is lush! The portions are large too so if you get the $8 meal, chances are you'll be able to finish only half. When going to the Bakery for cake orders, ask for Teri. She's so wonderful, warm, and just very accommodating. She'll speak to you like a long, lost dear friend. Now, when you're going to the prepared food section, look for Carol. She's AMAZING!! She spoils you like her own grandchild! Love her! I encourage shoppers to use their app. Besides calculating your expected (mostly accurate) total cost on your grocery list, it also organizes your groceries by aisle, removes the running around looking for bread or Five Spice Powder. All in all, Wegman's is the place one goes to get best quality (they also sell Sake which is a plus for my hubby), incredibly courteous staff, non-crazy/chaotic environment. read more

Woo Hoo! Cannot even begin to say how happy we are that Wegmans has come to our area. The food quality, wine selection, and service are wonderful. The market cafe area is like nothing I've ever seen before. My husband and I were in awe, but eventually grabbed a table upstairs and took the task of finding lunchtime treats to enjoy. He raves about the sushi and I highly recommend the salad bar area. I know it has just opened, but if they can keep up the high standards they have found customers for life. I am getting too old to play your silly games of rearranging the store at will. I know what I like, I know what I want, and expect to be able to go find it where it is supposed to be! Last time I was in Wegmans, I had a terrible time locating the items I wanted because they were not where they should have been: Who puts mustard near the deli, but not in with the other mustards? Likewise for the 6-packs of Ramen noodle soup. Put it with the rest of the soups! Now let's talk about frozen bagels -- you get to choose only Wegmans brand! Lender's brand frozen bagels disappeared from the shelf years ago, and your fresh baked bagels are grossly overpriced! Kaiser rolls -- how do you NOT have kaiser rolls two days after a long weekend? ??? Horseradish --my regular brand is Heluva Good. It's not the best horseradish, it's not the cheapest either. But it IS my choice -- NOT Wegmans-- to buy it! It has apparently been replaced by a Wegman's brand!!! Shredded Mozzarella cheese --ONLY WEGMANS BRAND AVAILABLE!!!! And it sucks -- it rots on the way home. Where is my Kraft brand???? I have returned the Wegmans brand twice because of mold within only a few days of opening the bag. STOP IT!!! Tomato paste--has always been where anchovies, anchovy paste, and across from canned tomatoes and canned tomato paste. NO LONGER!!! Now it is on the pasta aisle!!! Who makes these utterly stupid decisions? Tomato paste is NOT used only when making pasta dishes!! Eggs -- Your store brand eggs are cheap, at only $.79/doz., but you get what you pay for! Low grade, old eggs that the whites are mainly broken down into thin, watery liquid that runs all over the skillet. The premium brand eggs are grossly overpriced, and here's a little nugget of information for you: brown eggs are exactly the same as white eggs from a culinary standpoint! Quit charging extra for them! I will not buy your eggs again! Dove dark chocolate: Why can you not keep it in stock??? Your coupon app does not work. I have tried to get tech support to figure it out, but got nowhere, so I cannot take advantage of the sparse store coupons! To sum up, you are doing things that upset me, and I am sure many other of your customers, yet you do not seem to care. I'm sure Danny Wegman wants a new jet and a huge McMansion in the Catskills and is sure doing what he can to have all of that and more. Restrict what is available to store brands that have a much higher margin (Bagels, horseradish, mozzarella, etc.) "Hide" products and do store resets so the customer has to go up and down EVERY aisle to find what they want. Piss them off just enough to hopefully keep them coming back! I am now 70 years old and tired of your crap! IF I ever return to your store, I will not play your silly hide and seek games, and I will not buy the store brand if that is the only brand available. I WILL take my business elsewhere. BTW, my business was, shortly after you opened, well over $200 per week. Over $10,000 per year! You have driven me away till I may visit your store once every three weeks because I don't need the hassle! Hopefully, you will fire the store employees responsible and do your best to regain customer's trust. As always, I doubt that any store employee will care enough to contact me about this. read more

Yeah -- A Wegman's in the area! Wonderful grocery experience for those who love to eat, shop, cook (ok, that covers almost everyone). It's new, clean, high-end for Woodbridge, and highly welcomed. Because it's new and hires a lot of workers, I did encounter some confusion at the Cafe where they make the subs (they weren't quite organized and I asked the cashier what soups they had today, and she said she did not know, excuse me - I'm from PA). I just smiled and say, I'm not from VA either honey! LOL I gave it 4 stars because they need some organization. They even have a nice selection of Kosher foods. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Wegman's. I eat in the seafood bar station every saturday. The food is always fresh and the chefs are always pleasant. The other hot food stations are delicious as well. The staff is ALWAYS pleasant. You can tell that Wegman's is voted a top place to work. The store is big, but it never seems overwhelming.
