"Doctor" Leeman also uses the same excuse ("Results were questionable" heard through the door) to perform the same tests over so he can charge your insurance company twice. I am 60 years old, have been going to the doctor forever and this is the first and only time in my life where I have ever felt that a doctor had absolutely no interest, desire, or care to work with, or help me whatsoever. My story is, I supposedly needed to get pulmonology clearance for an ERCP Endoscopy due to intense gastrointestinal pain I was experiencing for over a month. I went to Leeman seeking this clearance and here is my non embellished, true experience: First Visit ($50 Copay) - He did a breathing test and told me it was "not too bad". He asked me to go get blood work and told him I had that with my Gastroenterologist, as well as Cardio clearance as well, and requested his office contact them for copies. He then told me to go get a chest X-ray and come back again, for which I went slogging in a rainstorm to get - that very same day. He made me go to his radiology place and refused to talk to anyone else for me. It was Zwanger-Peseri or nothing. I knew right there I was in some trouble here. No other Doctor is that inflexible. He mentioned to me several times about some app to make appointments on, so I even signed up for that and did as he asked. Did he know I did that? Nope. Clueless. Second Visit - ($50 copay) - He asked me to come back again with my medication vials in a bag to prove to him what meds I take. I have never EVER been asked that by any doctor I have EVER visited and thought this was way over the top, but since I thought I needed his help, I complied. So, like a bag lady I went back with my meds in hand a week later, still in pain, and he was not interested at all. He then did another breathing test which he told me "wasn't great" and that's it. He also loves to say the same thing all of the time" we like to get as much information as possible, we need blood work and cardiology information". I gave him all of this info at my first visit, where to obtain it as all of my blood work and clearances went to my Gastroenterologist, and I asked him to have his staff contact this doctor again because the insurance Company would never pay for another set of labs so close together, any Dr. would realize this. His response was "ok, make another appointment, are you are on my app"? Not trying to disrespect anyone, but the guy is clueless. Maybe this is why there are no workers in his office and I had to sit there for 20 minutes? After 20 minutes, I knocked on the door for to see if anyone was there, and he himself came to the door and told me to sit down, wait, and shut up. I continued to participate in the charade because I thought I needed this for my procedure as I mentioned. 3rd & final appointment: I refuse(d) to pay this $50 copay because I got absolutely nothing out of 2 prior visits, and was asked the same things over and over with his office not wanting to do anything at all to help me, including call my other doctor for lab work results and Cardio clearance. It was as though it was my first visit ever to him. He actually asked me again "what are you here for"? I was beside myself and noticeably annoyed at his lack of concern for the pain I was experiencing which I deeply conveyed. It is so bad I am thinking of reporting him to the AMA and NYS Medical board for just a total lack of patient awareness and care. As I said, I have never felt so unwanted at any Doctors office as I did at his. To conclude, I had my ERCP Endoscopy yesterday, did not need his help or clearance after all and wasted my wits, money, and time, so all I can do after that is warn anyone thinking of going to Doctor Benjamin Leeman TO STAY THE HECK AWAY unless you want to go to a Doctor who could care less about his patients well being. If that is what you seek, Leeman is your guy.

As a result of Dr.Epstein's failure to contact me,I learned that I might have cancer only because I requested a copy of my records from the specialist,which included the letter to Dr.Epstein. Dr. Epstein has failed to return my calls.Dr. Epstein did not call to report the results of an MRI of a tumor on my liver, or to report the results of the chest X-ray that he ordered,as per the specialist,only after I repotted to Dr.Epstein that I had learned that I might have cancer by reading the letter sent to him by the specialist.Dr. Epstein did not even call me,after telling another Dr. who ,concerned about my health and Dr. Epstein's lack of responsiveness. that he would call me.A specialist's office just requested that I obtain copies of my medical records.I called Dr. Epstein's office to relay the request.The Office Manager informed me that it is HIPAA violation for a Doctor's office to send medical records to another Dr. She said that it is "against the law for anyone other than a 'licensed agency" (as in the "licensed agency contracted by the Dr.Epstein's practice to photocopy and mail records fora fee ) to photocopy and mail medical records to another Doctor.When I mentioned that the specialist who had sent my records to Dr. Epstein,does not believe it is agains the law to send medical records to another Dr.,the office manager said that I did not need my medical records,as I had already obtained a copy of the specialist's records,indicating that I might have cancer.I had to point out that I was requesting Dr.EPSTEIN'S records.She also told me that the doctor whom I am about to consult does not need all my records from Dr.Epstain ,which consist of a total of 3 -4 office visits,some blood test results,and presumably the results of the Chest X-ray and MRI of my liver .She believes that ,as an office manger,she is qualified to determine which of m my records are needed by the Chief of a Department at a teaching hospital...Dr.Epstein's office manager said that there was absolutely no possibility of my obtaining my medical records other than through paying a fee to Healthport,the agency involved.It does not matter that this agency only picks up records from Dr.Epstein's office once a week,and that time is of essence. Apparently, the only way to learn if the Chest X-Ray or Liver Scans revealed that I have cancer,is by forking over 75 cents a page to Healthport. Unless you are prepared to learn that you might have cancer by reading a letter,or for cancer,if present to be allowed to metastasize I recommend that you choose another internist.

He never rushed and was very detailed. He had some suggestions. One included a Cat scan w/ contrast for my heart- (His specialty is cardiology) due to certain issues. (I had been to the Cardiologist recently and he told me to come back in a year). Dr. Schantz discovered an 80 % blockage in an artery, which my Cardiologist was surprised to see. He was amazing with amazing referrals for other doctors. He is one heck of a diagnostician and a really caring, brilliant physician. He's amazing- I'm glad I'm seeing him. He may have saved my life, I HIGHLY recommend him if you are looking for what we used to call- a real family doctor.

I have been…read moretrying to get a hold of my Medical Records for a Life Insurance Policy, and have been told the records have been sent. It is now one month later and my Insurance broker still does not have the records. I have been trying to find out for two weeks the status of these records. My Insurance agent has called and I have called and I get no information. All they did was give me the telephone number of the Third Party that handles the records. All my other doctors have sent their records and they were received within one week. South Shore Heart does not even respond to my calls. I was told the person who handles Medical Records is on vacation. This is totally unacceptable and no none seems to care. I have told my Primary Care Physician not to recommend South Shore Heart.
