Update to 12/11/2013 review. Spoke with the "Quality Assurance Manager early in January about the $175 overcharge for our stay in Destin, he said he would check for us and get right back. It's February 8 now.....still no word. We did complete the sale of our unit prior to Jan. 1, so did not have to pay maintenance fee of $819.00. Sale price was, indeed, $1.00. read more

The hotel was OK with a nice pool area and hot tubs. The exercise room was OK however the weight equipment was cheap Hoist machines, hard to determine what weight you were using. Employees were all very friendly and helpful. We were here with our grandson for our spring break so there were very few people staying at the hotel. The "one star" rating is because of the optional timeshare presentation. We were told that we could save $120 by attending this 2 hour presentation however it was actually 4 hours while our grandson sat in the room with nothing to do. Everything started out nice however when we balked about buying things got a little crazy. The finance guy came over and told us that we were the perfect couple to purchase. Actually we don't like staying in one place for a week but enjoy doing guided tours where you see some of the major attractions of an area or country. We were given two options to purchase with the first requiring a $7000 deposit that they would put on my credit card. This would give you points every year. The second option was for points every two year for a down payment of $5000. When I looked at the paperwork the cost of the second option was $23,000 with a loan rate of 15.9%. I told them I would never pay that much interest for anything they told me I could just pay it off at anytime. At this I asked if we could kick this around a little and let them know in the morning. We were told that this was a special rate just for today and tomorrow the cost would be $40,000. This sure sounded fishy, buy it right now or the price doubles overnight. We said no and things really got interesting. We were offered airfare to Europe for 2 people and other perks to get us to sign. We again said "no way" and left after we were told we were making a "big mistake by not purchasing this timeshare". We would stay at the hotel again when we come to Bronson but will never attend another time share presentation ever. Now I understand all the adds on the radio and TV about selling your timeshare. It was not worth the $120 and free show tickets. Tickets that we actually never received. read more

This resort has potential but their customer service needs work. First, the concierge couldn't be bothered to give us information when checking in. She answered the phone instead and had a lengthy conversation instead of putting the phone on hold and helping us since we were standing right in front of her. Next, housekeeping didn't come once to clean our room. They cleaned the room next to us and then left. I had to call each day to request stuff since they never came. I pay for this service and it was not given. Expect a lot of noise as there is a lot of construction next to the Timber Ridge Lodge. There is only one treadmill in a resort of this size is awful. Landscaping needs work. Lots of weeds. On the plus, great pool, cute mini golf course, and cheap breakfast buffet. read more

Our first experience with Welk Resort in Branson will be our last. Upon check in the room smelled musty, was dirty, had candy wrappers on the window sill. We revisited the checkin counter and after we voiced our concerns to "Cindy" who checked us in and her reply was "Do you want to check out?" What type of customer service is that? We finally were given a different room. The smell was not as bad. The lounge/bar/resturant is dated to 1980 and was not what you would expect at a resort. When the timeshare presentation began we voiced our concerns again, Lynn was the "guide" he wanted us to tell the manager "Terry" so problems could be fixed. Terry listened and assured us he would resolve the problems and call us the same day, this was at 10AM. No call, no contact,and no follow up call at all! The room had wall so thin you could hear everything above and near you. The complemetary winery coupons for Mt Pleaseant state a free bottle of "Chamborcin". The worker at Mt Pleasant was frustrated that Welk kept giving the vouchers out for wine they do not offer. Do NOT stay at this place. It is not what a stay in Branson should reflect, it has a "nursing home" atmosphere, poor customer service with any issues, and sub par management. read more

We did a timeshare presentation there and was not impressed. They only have a few resorts in the United States that you can go too and none of them are very convenient for us to get too. Our sales lady was annoying and kept asking us basically the same questions over and over. It took longer than two hours and the only thing that we got to see was one suite. She didn't show us anymore of the resort. Then, once we said no for the final time, she was kind of snotty to us and didn't really shake our hands or anything or walk us out. She just pushed the elevator button for us and that was it. They also told us that since we weren't buying at that time that if we ever wanted to purchase their timeshare than it would cost us over $120,000.!! read more

Umm - nasty by all accounts. This is the best example of a dive hotel we've seen in awhile. The rooms are so small you have to turn sideways, the bathroom has black mold, the room has a toxic chlorine smell, I could go on.....The fact that people are posting 4-5 stars floors me. We moved to the grand country to escape and it's wayyy better for $20 more. Run while you can.... read more

Not bad for the price! Room was clean and staff was really nice. The "waterpark" was ok. Only one slide it which was disappointing. There was a lot of activities for kids to do. The movie at he pool was pretty cool! My kids 8 and 10 really enjoyed it. If we ever go back to Branson we will probably stay at another hotel with a bigger waterpark. read more

The Welk Resort in Branson, MO took $3000 dollars out of our account after we canceled getting a time share and promised to give it back but its been over a month and they will not answer our calls or emails and we are still out the money for nothing....very upset I believe they should be put under investigation. Has anyone else dealt with a similar experience with them? Advice on what to do next would be helpful. read more

My mother and father inlaw, my husband, and I decided to make a short detour through Branson on our way down south for our family vacation. I found Welk Resort through Hotels.com. Originally our tickets were purchased without the water pass. When I noticed that I called Hotels.com to change that and they said I couldn't do that without a charge of $75. I was furious. I called the hotel and the clerk upfront told me that it was not problem and that we could change it when we got there. When we checked in the front desk was very nice and accommodating. The put us in rooms that were together. That was nice. They had a nice water resort area with 2 hot tubs, indoor/outdoor swimming pool, and indoor water slide. This area also had an outdoor kiddie area and a ping pong table. We also went outside to enjoy a short game of mini golf and have drinks from the bar very close to it. The entire hotel including our rooms were very clean ( I tend to be a stickler in this area) The price was great! We only paid $140 for 2 rooms and water passes for the night. I think that was a great deal considering all the amenities we had. I have already recommended it to many of my friends and will continue to do so. The only negative thing I can think to say about it is that you can really hear all the noise going on outside your room in the halls and other rooms. If we had not been there during the off season it might have been more irritating. read more

We loved this place! We had stayed elsewhere for one night and it was so bad so we switched to Welk. Super friendly staff. Nice room. The splash a torium is worth the extra money even without little kids. My daughter and I enjoyed the hot tubs and even the slide! The only negatives were the wifi was sketchy and only worked sporadically. And room service ended st 8 so we had to order pizza. read more

Huge disappointment. This was my families first time at this resort and more than likely our last. Our room had ants, they were all over the floor, and in the bed. They even got in my daughters suitcase. When I mentioned it to the front desk she was like "It is really earlier and cut herself off", The hot water in bathroom almost scalded my son, we put a thermometer under it was almost 150 degress. We went down to do smores like were advertised in the Kids activities noone seemed to know anything about thay happening they just told me I could register for cupcake wars. And at the pool 2 or 3 children throw up and if it wasnt for the mom covering it with a towel the staff did nothing for like 20 minutes. The Hotel was dated and smelled damp. There was no microwave in the room we had to wait in the laudry room in line to use one of two in there. When we checked out and mentioned the ants the spread sheet of complaints from this past weekend was already a page long. And their check out time is 10 AM which barely gives a family with children time to eat and get ready to get out of the room. The indoor water park also was not a waterpark at all it had one slide, no lazy river, and a pool. It was not what we were expecting at all. Nothing like the County Inn, Great wolf, or even the Holiday Inn Club. read more

Absolutely DO NOT deal with this resort, and whatever you do don't become a timeshare owner here!! I bought a timeshare with Welk in early January of 2013 and have been trying to cancel since. I missed the cancellation period by 2 days and have been trying to get a hold of anyone in the office that can help me, but apparently they shut the entire sales department down for almost 2 months so there is no one that can help me or that cares enough to help me. I have sent numerous e-mails, which they say they will respond to, but don't and left a bunch of messages and get no reply. If you want the WORST customer service ever, then become a timeshare owner here! read more

We stayed here 4 nights with the kids. The kids thought it was a 5 star resort, with a great pool area, mini golf, fishing on property. It's not upscaled at all, but it has everything you would need. Our room smelled kind of funky, but no big deal. The concierge is a joke. We spent over $1000 on shows while we were there, and they refused to help us book anything unless we took the time share tour. That was frustrating, so we had to book everything on our own, but the other staff were great! I might stay here again, or we might try somewhere else. It's one of those places. Nice, clean hotel but a little disappointed in the noise. I could hear people walking up and down the hall so a little soundproofing in the room would have been great. Price range is average, and it is a very family-friendly place with an indoor water park that contains an indoor/outdoor pool as well as two very large hot tubs. Prices have gone up since we stayed there but would stay again if the price dropped just a litle. read more

When we arrived we presented a $99 coupon for a room and the front desk called the manager. The manager had no information about this coupon and was not aware of the source. In the same coupon list we had printed off, there was a coupon for $2 off a show at the Welk theater. I was told we could go ahead and check-in and they would research this and call me back the next day. I never got called. I went down to the front desk on our second day and asked the front desk person to have the manager call me and gave them my cell. Now two days after we checked out I never got a call. I feel very sure the marketing department for Welk did these coupons and the management at the resort was just not informed. With all the different places ads can be placed it's very likely this could happen. I'm very dissappointed in how they never called us back. read more

I had signed up for a group discount for my wedding and only found out that there was an issue when my dad called to make a reservation. I went up to the welk to find out what was going on and they said they never received the contract so they just cancelled it. Didn't try to call me or anything. So I have guests staying there with out the discount that I said they would get and was told to me all because they are lazy and didn't even try to correct their mistake. Horrible service. read more

I had a business lunch I had to attend and let my 12 year old daughter hang out in the room to watch T.V. for an hour. Housekeeping unexpectedly asked her to leave the room so they could clean while I was away. During that time a dental retainer was lost. It was on the counter before they went in and it was gone when they left. I think it's bad enough to ask a guest to leave the room, but the loss of an dental appliance costs $$$. I told my story to 4-5 different managers and guest services over the next three days. I was continuously shuffled around. My thought is that unless it's their policy to have guests leave their room when the clean, they should help me out with the dental bill (I asked them to split the bill with me). I never even got a NO, just we'll get back to you. After talking to several different managers and guest services I finally gave up. A week and a half later and they won't even return my call. read more

We went for the timeshare presentation. Made the mistake of not reading reviews first. We did receive a voucher for $60 in meals at their restaurant, but were now very skeptical regarding the main gift, a voucher for travel through Holiday Travel of America. Read the many reviews of this business before sitting for this presentation. The presentation was advertised for 90 minutes, but lasted three hours. The plan is expensive (we were offerered 90,000 points, which is one week in a one bedroom) for $14K. Lots of supposed extra weeks at a reduced price that I have a feeling would be hard to redeem and which expired in 12 months. The sales lady was pleasant enough, but the "closer" was a jerk. When we politely declined, he was rude and told the sales lady in a loud voice to "make sure they're removed from any future offers." The display property we were shown was nice, but I've read that owners don't always get good accommodations. Given that you are not buying a specific time in a specific unit, but rather buying into the "Welk Trust", I can't see what stops them from severely over-selling into this scheme, leaving "owners" with limited availability. Lots of statements about how Mr Welk did this or that, but he died in 1992, well before all this timeshare stuff was put together. read more

After my last post I have had one person at Welk, who has tried to resolve the problem we area having. The bottom line is I was promised a vacation for January and after speaking to Intervals last Thursday it seems that there is no availability clear through February. My plans have all hinged on January and now that has all gone down the tubes. They did try and appease me by offering us one of their hotels in Maui. This hotel is on a cliff. Don't know about you but who goes to Hawaii to be on a cliff, most people want to be on a beach. All alternative offers seem to be for places that most people are not interested in going too. My husband and I wanted to spend our vacation in Hawaii on the beach, not on a cliff. After the disappointing news of no availability clear through February I have contacted my son and told him he no longer has to come to Conn. to house sit because I will not be going anywhere. This is a cost to him or me of $200.00 per airline tickets. I just want this nightmare behind me. I just want to get rid of this time share. I know I will take a hit for the maintenance fee that is paid in full and I will also lose my fee with Internals. Welk states how pleasant and easy vacation planning is with them.....Not true. At this point even if they (Welk) made it right it really, really scars me as to what type of experience I will have in planning the next trip if this is what is going on with planning the first. I contacted the VOA Dept. on Friday and left a message and to date still no response. Someone else at Welk reached out to me on Friday and told me someone would be contacting me. I checked with them today.....and they tell me that again someone from the Vacation Specialist Dept. is going to contact me. They do not seem to understand that this approach is not working. This is so frustrating and I hope by keeping up with this review it will help others not make the same mistake we have. read more
