In my recent visit to LA, I've stopped by this place although being a very humble little grocery…read moreshop with not much. This place is actually a rare gem hidden in plain sight. This places carries Yucatan Herbs and Spices, among other products like Edam Cheese, Horchata Syrups (my personal fave is the one with the label of a happy sun sipping from a straw) and Globito and Bizcochito Crackers which are commonly sold in Merida, Yucatan. Whenever I'm in LA, I always drop by and stock up on Horchata Syrups, personally I think the syrups have a much more plentiful and delicious flavor than the Horchata powder mixes that are sold pretty much elsewhere. My mom being a native "Yucateca" enjoys buying the spices and herbs sold there. She says it gives her dishes that one Authentic Yucatan Flavor. I'm pretty much aware that there's another Yucatan shop near by, Well a Bakery to be precise. However they tend to mostly focus selling Yucatan Style Breads and often sell ethnic dishes too. Moreover they sell Edam Cheese as well, However for a few bucks less, you can pretty much buy them at Mayas instead. Same goes for the Globitos-Bizcochito Crackers and pretty much everything else. you'll be getting the same brand name products, same sizes too for a few dollars less than buying them at the Yucatan Bakery. I highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys the exotic flavors of Yucatan.

Healthy grain bowls at a really cute colorful truck with friendly employees!…read more Had the Crenshaw Meatballs (Pork & Chicken meatball, coconut curry, jicama slaw, peanuts). The jicama slaw was refreshing and delicious and I love the GRAINS! Chewy and delicious. The meatballs were alright, they were slightly too salty for me and the coconut curry was nearly nonexistent and was more like a milky coconut sauce. But it was still good, the ingredients were balanced well and the bowl had a variety of textures and flavors. Portions seemed small but it was just right amount and carried me 'til dinner! But I thought $10 for a food truck bowl was too pricey. (Spotted: Thurs Lunchtime outside of work near Culver City. La Cienega/Blackweider Rd)

Pico House has an amazingly unique concept, and I hope it starts to get some hype. What we have…read morehere is some HIGH quality meats, grains, and other fantastic ingredients you'll find in each of their bowls. I had the short rib bowl and was absolutely delicious. The meat was perfectly smoked tasting like bacon while all the rest of the ingredients extremely complimented each other. You can really tell that each person on this truck takes a lot of pride in what they're cookin, and that's clear based on the product that they're serving. Before enjoying my bowl, I was fortunate enough to try their onion rings. I gotta be honest, before receiving them I was expecting a standard onion ring. After the first bite I've already declared these as some of the BEST onion rings I've ever had. The trick is they pickle the onions first. It's so simple, but so genius. Unlike anything at a fast food joint, these o-rings are pretty light and not greasy at all. The dip that came alongside was also amazing (and orgasmic), to say the least. It's similar to a sour cream with other flavors. I'm not sure exactly what was in it, but I had to take it home, but actually didn't, due to being too busy dipping my finger in it to finish the rest. Make sure to try their desserts too as they have a pastry chef on the truck! The Pink Lemonade Cream Puffs seem to be their signature, but unfortunately they weren't on the menu during the time of my visit. I did however try the Stumptown Tiramisu and PB&J cakes. Both are succulent, moist, and a must try. Pico House is a great option for lunch and dinner that's not only healthy, but also delicious. Office Managers or Event Planners, I highly recommend getting these guys in for some catering.

Great stop! Came in an hour before closing and the parking was fine on site - not too busy either!…read moreGreat selection of products and generally good prices. I love these types of stores so it would've been easy for me to spend lots of money there but I held back! Worth it if you're looking for any sort of unique baking supply.

Had a real quick trip here recently, and I'd be less and honest if I didn't say I was a bit bummed…read more I actually found what I came here for (I needed some British double heavy cream) for a particular dish, though I couldn't help but reminisce when this location used to be in Culver city. There are a number of reasons why the Culver City location was so much better, but perhaps the main drawback at this LA location is the fact that the former had a real sense of ambiance, and uniqueness, particularly when it came to its cozy little cafe section. Now the "cafe" is pretty much just a space within a space. Another real draw to the Culver City location was the fact that they actually had a separate section where "Guest Chefs" could come in and teach entire classes via cooking classes that sometimes you have to sign up for in advance, and other times you could just kind of walk in on it. That was dope! And while the staff was friendly enough, and again ( don't get me wrong it's still a place that I will be back to to purchase much needed product), it's just an unfortunate reality that sometimes no....you can't duplicate the past.
