Great shop with personality. You could tell this is something they take seriously. In NYC barbershops are a dime a dozen so you really have to look for one where you have the right atmosphere. Willis takes his craft very seriously and you see that in the caliber of barbers he has there working. You walk in a customer and after a few visits you feel like you're in there with friends. Got a shape up with JOEY THE BARBER yesterday or at least what was supposed to be a shape up. Very unhappy with the service and cut for $35 paid. I have a flat top and needed the sides trimmed. It took him 50 mins for a crappy cut. My edges look like a 3 yr old went at them with a razor. The fade I requested is SLOPPY and nearly nonexistent. Dude kept saying he's one of the best barbers in NY. In what world? Literally felt like he was scraping my scalp with a fork the entire time. The owner's 7 yr old son even said out loud "my name is Joey and I'm bad at cutting hair." How sad. His technique is TRASH. Will not be returning. read more

There's a lot of dope barbers in the city, but you still have to connect with them. Lisa and the Well Connected staff got the juice. It goes like life. Treat folks like you want to be treated. Say what's up to anybody in the spot and they'll send it back. Lisa is ridiculously talented. Super knowledgable about what's going on in the industry. She wants all her clients to be the freshest possible. I've got a tough head to cut, but she knows exactly what to do. She's done everything from regular fades to braids on my head. She really cares and she's detailed AF. I'll tell her what I'm trying to do and she nails it every time. I just let her do her thing for my previous cut, and it was the best cut I've received from her yet. Say what you want about the shop. Your barber might be a little late. The prices might be a little higher. This is New York. Spend the extra few dollars and get super fresh. Oh. And tip your barber. They'll remember that. read more

I went to Well Connected Barbershop on a Sunday afternoon for a haircut with Vince. Upon arriving, he decided to recount the experience he had earlier that day with a lesbian who was transitioning. Throughout the entirety of my haircut, he referred to him numerous times using homophobic slurs, and at one point even referred to him as a "thing," saying that he wanted to put up a sign so that "they" wouldn't be allowed inside. He also told me not to worry, because he "disinfected" his scissors and razors afterwards. This type of blatant homophobia is both disgusting and unnaceptable, and I will never be returning. Vince should be fired for the horrific things he said. read more

Heard about this place by walking by the shop. Had never been there before but it looked like they could cut the style I like. Called a day ahead and made an appt. with Vinny for 2p. Showed up to the barber shop on time and waited for him to show up. At 2:20 I asked one of the other barbers (who was sitting there eating food and not cutting anyone's hair) where Vinny was as he hadn't even showed yet. Guy said he would call him to ask where he was. After calling him barber said "Vinny totally spaced he had an appointment at 2:00 today but he could be here at 3:30 if you want." No thanks. I have visited this shop for both haircuts, and braids. I received the best haircuts from Willis who is both skilled, professional, and gives you exactly the cut you want. I would always book my appointment ahead of time, and never had to wait long to be seated. On another occasion i booked an appointment to get my hair braided by Guin Gui. She did an amazing job giving me beautiful detailed fish braids. If your looking for braid skills shes the one to go to.
