The Mocha had good flavor, and the right amount of chocolate (sometimes they can taste more like hot chocolate). They warmed up the cake and it was absolutely delicous. It was a good portion, with more than enough to share. My friend got the oatmeal, and that was also amazingly good. The bowl was brimming with oats and all the optional toppings. You like walnuts? There were enough in that one bowl to make a cake! Everything was delicious. My one criticism was that they do not have mugs for the hot beverages. Just not a fan of sitting down for a inside coffeeshop experience with a paper cup. Service: The people helping us out were both super friendly. Explained the different menu choices. They offer gluten "friendly" bakery, and let us know that they try hard to contain any cross contamination.. I don't have a gluten issue, but that was good to know. Gave great service for our entire stay. Atmosphere: The place is nicely designed. Plenty of natural light through the front and side windows. The seating is arranged for different size groups, and it was easy to have a quiet conversation. The design is simple, casual, and very open. It was a relaxing space. Would definitely come back again.

The big windows on the front give lots of natural light. There wasn't anyone else in the place when we arrived. Got a friendly greeting by the Barista. Ordered my usual London Fog, (little lavender, little vanilla, extra foam. The Barista questioned by request for the Lavender. Insisted that London Fogs are made with Blackberry Syrup and not Lavender. Never heard that one before, so I gave it a try. No scones, so I got the Chocolate Chip Muffin. The London Fog came in a nice mug. Not nearly enough foam for my liking. The Blackberry flavor was interesting, but a bit too much, and overwhelmed the tea. The muffin was nice and moist. We were there for about 3 hours, and only 2 other people came during that time. It was easy to have a conversation. But seemed a bit odd (too quiet?).

I was less adventurous and got a red eye with the blueberry casserole that was on special. The blueberry casserole was a delicious muffin base with fresh blueberries and creamy mascarpone filling. Talked a bit with the new owners, they were very friendly. They also own a bakery and feature many of the sweets from their other business. Will definitely be back next time I'm in the area!

Perhaps it was…read morebecause we dined in the middle of May on a chilly, but sunny evening, but the gorgeous place was empty. The Commodore is a beautiful restaurant. Completely redone by the experienced folks with the Bartolotta Group, the space is a knock-out! My spouse and I arrived early and grabbed some drinks at the expansive bar overlooking the lake. The staff was warm and engaging, and I'm difficult, asking tons of questions and making irreverent comments. They rolled along, laughing and adding to our good time. I'm always wary in Lake Country, because my politics and affect differ from the majority, but the Commodore makes no distinctions. When our friends arrived, we grabbed a table and had a fantastic meal. Our Wiener Schnitzel was great, and our friends raved about the Beef Wellington. Service at the table was professional and well-trained. Maybe because I travel and have lived in several metropolitan areas, I found the prices more than reasonable for the gestalt experience. In fact, I think the Commodore is one of the best restaurants in the Milwaukee Metro. Bravo!

Other evenings throughout Lent will support different organizations. For $30 we enjoyed a wide-ranging buffet which included clam chowder, salad, potato pancakes, fish tenders, small red potatoes, pearl carrots, and a variety of desserts. We took our time and enjoyed each course, and also the ability to have easy conversations in a nicely quiet room. The Old Fashioned drinks were done well, and the entire evening was very nice. The fish buffet was held upstairs with a beautiful view of Nagawicka Lake. The tables are spaced apart nicely and the service was attentive. There is an elevator for those who need accessibility, as well as restrooms that are spacious for wheelchair access. There is plenty of parking.
