Vince was honest and candid, so I'll attempt to be the same here. Vince and his helpful mate powered through a challenging move on a hot summer day, maybe the hottest of the year in Philly, and didn't sound a single complaint. They were thoughtful and flexible as we dealt with stubborn building management, and worked carefully and efficiently to safely move our apartment. On the whole, I'm happy with the move and would consider using Vince again. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I would recommend communicating clearly and specifically with Vince about the details of your move ie a detailed, itemized list of all of your belongings (err on overestimating) and information about the walking distance from the street to your apartment.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had a small mix up with Vince regarding how many bags/boxes we had. He respectfully requested a larger payment citing the volume of belongings and the long stretch of hallway from the elevator to our apartment, and cordially negotiated with us to settle a fair deal. At the end of the day, Vince was a true professional, and I was happy to pay a couple hundred dollars extra for a job well done, but I would have preferred greater reliance on our previous various conversations about the size of the move and otherwise informing me about potential variations in price depending on building logistics. I can't reiterate enough that Vince was the utmost professional and that I trust his honesty, but I would caution him as a friendly customer not to give off the impression of attempting a potential bait-and-switch on price. Vince stood up for what he believed he was worth (which I respect), and ultimately, your services were worth the money I paid. Every penny. So no hard feelings, but I just wish I knew the true cost when I signed a contract to do business with you. Put another way - I like that we ended up striking a good and fair deal, but I would have loved to finalize that same deal a month earlier, when we actually negotiated and planned the move. read more

Deaundre Torrence scammed me out of $500. I paid him upfront to purchase and install a door, and he completely disappeared. He never showed up, never delivered the materials, and stopped responding to my messages entirely. After I posted about this on the Nextdoor app, multiple other people came forward saying he also tried to scam them in similar ways. This appears to be a pattern of dishonest behavior, not a one-time mistake. I'm reporting him and his so-called business to the Better Business Bureau and urge anyone else who's had a similar experience to do the same. I used Well off moves when I needed to move apartments. I contacted several moving companies to get quotes. I found another company that beat their price so I let Well off moves, as well as the other moving companies I was speaking with, know that I would be going with another option and told them sorry for the inconvenience. Well off moves contacted me immediately and told me that they would take more than half off because they wanted my business. They said "name the price" and they would make it work. I was trying to save money so I took the deal and chose Well Off Moves instead of my first choice. I take full-ownership of this mistake. We talked over text, and the owner asked me to take a picture of the stuff I wanted to move and he told me that it could be done with two movers. When moving day arrived, only one person showed up with a U-Haul. He told me that usually he comes to see the apartment before taking the job but because we were both busy, he relied on the picture which didn't show how much stuff was really in the apartment, so he figured it could be done with 1 person. If he had ended the conversation there, I likely wouldn't be writing this review. But the mover said that the reason he took this job despite being overbooked that day (which is why only 1 mover showed up) is because he was just trying to help someone out in a desperate situation, to do me a favor. That simply wasn't true...the company knew I had another option and chose to pursue my business despite being too overbooked to do their due diligence. Long story short, I couldn't find another mover the day of and needed to be out of the apartment so my mother and myself had to help him load everything into the truck as well as our personal cars, then unload. Then I had to rally friends with cars to help me move the rest. read more

Vincent and Well Off Moves failed to complete the move. They left two rugs, two air conditioners, and various other items (including clothes, a lamp, and my jewelry box) behind. The day after the "move", I literally had to arrange for someone to go back and get the the rugs and air conditioners (which don't fit in my car) and had to make several trips to transport the other items he left behind in my car. Additionally, once I began unpacking, I realized that several items had been packed (I payed extra for him to pack my stuff) without padding and were damaged. This included a gold leaf painting (gold leaf frame damaged) and other items. Despite going back to my former home to pick up the items the he left behind that would fit in my car, I am still missing a special occasion dress and the partner to one of my shoes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]To add insult to injury, one of the reasons I chose Well Off Moves and Vincent is that prior to the move, he came to my house and looked at all my stuff. I also informed him of where I was moving--including the name and location of my new apartment[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. He gave me a quote based on this and assured me several times that, because he had done an in-person visit/assessment, his quote would be accurate and there would be no last minute surprises in terms of prices. Imagine my shock, when immediately upon arriving at the new apartment, he informed me that he would be charging me an additional $500.00 (a 40% increase above the price he quoted me). Because he had possession of all my stuff and I did not want to get the police involved, I complied. (I was able to talk him down to $400 because once he unloaded my stuff in the new apartment, in part because I noticed the missing rugs and air conditioners and pointed that out to him.) As I reflect on the move, I truly believe that not only did he fail to move me. He took advantage of me and my daughter. I am filing a claim against him and urge any single women to not use his company. read more

Vince helped me move a 15x10x10 storage container of boxes, furniture, and appliances into my new 2nd story apartment. He provided a truck and would have had another employee help, but he called out sick. Being a hands on/hard worker myself, Vince ran circles around me getting me moved across Philadelphia in under 2 hours. Really professional, friendly, helpful, hard working, and knowledgeable guy.
