Dreadful, worst run business I've ever dealt with! They frequently don't show for lessons and when they do they're always late (100%) of the time. In particular, Phyllis, the owner is inept in virtually every aspect of client interaction and running a business. I am so upset with myself that I did not read these reviews before we signed up our son for lessons with this company. Our son had emergency surgery right before he was supposed to start classes and ended up in the hospital for three weeks. I called the company and spoke with Yvonne who was very sympathetic and assured me that we would receive a full refund. It is now over THREE MONTHS and I have called and emailed weekly. Each time I am assured the owner will be contacted and someone would call back - this has not happened. We plan to take this further and will not stop till we receive our full refund. This is the worst organization I have ever worked with. Our son is 7 hours shy of finishing his driving hours. After a week plus of calling and leaving messages we haven't heard back from them. I think they have gone out of business . I was told to use Needham DS but went with this nightmare because his friends were using them. Bad call. read more

On Monday January 26, 2015 our daughter was scheduled for a driving lesson with Wellesley Driving School at 4:30pm. The driving teacher, Gus, picked her up and she was a passenger in the back of the car for her "observational hour". The student driver lost control of the car. He swerved to the right and hit a utility pole. The airbags inflated and there was smoke in the car. The instructor Gus told the driver and our 16 year daughter to get into the car of an unknown couple who had witnessed the accident and subsequently offered to take them to the other student's house. The police were not notified, an ambulance was not called to evaluate the minors, and the car was not towed even though the airbags had inflated. The utility company was not contacted to assure that the pole was not at risk. Our daughter contacted her mother who immediately took her to the Hospital due to her complaints of chest pain and ringing in her right ear. She had an EKG and x-rays and found to have a sternal contusion. The lack of safety and responsibility are very concerning. The Wellesley Driving School has demonstrated to our children that in case of an accident one should not call the police or an ambulance and leave the scene. I have personally spoken to the Wellesley and Weston Police Departments and no report was filed with the police. They also shared with me that if air bags inflate the car must be towed and if a minor is involved in an accident with impact then they need to be evaluated by medical personal. There was also a major lack of judgment in placing our teenage daughter in the car of strangers/passersby. The lack of professionalism, responsibility and follow up is very concerning. This company does not place safety and the law as a priority. Beware! It is my belief that this school is not fit to be trusted with or teach our children. read more

Pros: They are nice, the lesson is ok and they accept payments after the lesson. Cons: Scheduling is bad and they cancel on you without notice. I took 6 lessons with the school with no prior driving experience. Driving around Wellesley is nice and easy. Also, they sponsored me for a test in Milford that I failed due to parallel parking. Phyllis was so kind and bought me chocolate on the way back to cheer me up! read more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME HERE! The driving school is run by an old woman named Phyllis (she is 80 years old), she can barely see or hear and she takes you on most lessons. Every lesson she made hurtful comments about my weight, and did so in front of other children. She made me drive through a four way intersection when the light was red. She has totaled a majority of the driving school cars. Do not even waste your time here. If you care about your child's safety, you should not send them here. The school is so unprofessional. It takes weeks to schedule appointments, they constantly mess up payments and the schedule. I thankfully passed my drivers test, but the school taught me nothing. This driving school is absolutely terrible. The lady who runs it (Phyllis) is so disorganized and spacey. My first lesson she delayed an hour which was fine but then she didn't show up at the new designated time. An hour and a half later she called to say she couldn't make it. Her hearing and eyesight are awful. The other day she had me stop because she "thought she saw a stop sign". There was no stop sign and the claimed it magically moved. Another time she had me practice 3 point turns in the middle of the road below a curb so that the oncoming traffic couldn't see us. Before starting the turn I told her it unsafe....she couldn't hear me. This driving school is disorganized, irresponsible and unsafe. read more

If there was a way to put "0" to this school, I would so do it. The most horrible experience from the day, my child was scheduled for his very first lesson. They EXPECT your child to already know how to drive, for starters... The owner of this school, Phyllis, is the rudest, most unorganized person, who refuses to listen to you, or keeps telling you that she has been in business for 30 years and knows how things are done. This school should be shut down by the RMV. I registered my son to take classes, paid full $400 charge, only to find out that they shut their school down. No phone, no website, no communication. But they cashed my check. It seems they frequently do this to customers. A number of neighbors and I had to go to Attorney General, RMV and BBB to receive any financial relief or driving lessons from other school. I was not so lucky and spent over a month trying to receive my refund once the school,re-opened its doors. Finally took going over to school escorted by Wellesley police to get refund. OMG. JUNE 2017. I had to call BOA to get my cc refunded $400 that WDS took from our family. We had not signed up, we only inquired and they insisted on a "card" to get it started. Foolishly, we gave it and they took $400 from us - FOR NO REASON!! Our credit card company straightened it out and refunded us, but BE CAREFUL with these people. Apparently, they have gone through a lot of company changes and continue to evolve. No scheduled classes available. Visited onsite and no one around but one VERY SKETCHY WOMAN just hired and nervously running the biz !!!! Ownership is an auto place. Buyer beware. read more

I took about 12 driving instructions with Wellesley Driving School about a year ago and it was pretty disorganized. When I was taking lessons here, there were 3 instructors: Gus, Mimi, and Phyllis. Gus was the only decent instructor, while both Mimi and Phyllis had either missed appointments with me or shown up late. The driving school was also unresponsive to e-mails and calls. After not hearing from them about scheduling more driving time after a week through e-mail or phone, I'd have to e-mail them again to get a response. When Mimi or Phyllis did show up, they were rarely helpful in their instruction. In addition to this, the driving school did a poor job of keeping track of payments. I repeatedly received e-mails requesting payments for lessons that I already paid for. I eventually switched driving schools after being so frustrated here - it was the biggest waste of money. This place is the absolute worst. Completely disorganized and incompetent. They were repeatedly late - showing up 2 hours late on the morning of my daughter's driving test!! When I kept calling, they took their phone off the hook!! And I can't even say that the instruction was effective even when they did show up. Steer clear. read more

Wellesley Driving School has taught all three of my children to drive. I hold Wellesley Driving School in the highest regard. Gus, Phylis, Mimi have been employed at the School for years and each have many years of experience. They are organized, helpful and professional. Today, my youngest son went out on his first driving lesson and practiced parallel parking in downtown Wellesley, three point turns and driving on double yellow roads. Phylis recognized that he drove well after practicing with Mom and Dad and worked on the tougher skills to master. Thank you, Phylis! This is my second child passing through Wellesley Driving School. We could not be happier. Gus and Phyllis are great teachers, supportive, patient and experienced. Mimi keeps the schedule in perfect order, with reminders of driving lessons, flexible pick-ups and always willing to work with us when busy schedules collide. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE!!! I wish I had done a little more research before committing with them. The only good thing I can say about this place is that Phyllis, the owner, is a nice old lady that seemed to care about my kid. Other than that, it is a total disaster! Scheduling the driving hours took forever. When I requested them, they told me that they teach the kids to pass the road test and that they should learn to drive with a parent first and then, only then, they would start the driving hours. Are they actually a Driving School??? The secretary that used to work there until recently (named Mimi) would never answer the many messages left on the answering machine and many days would go by before you would get a respond to an email. I tried going to the office twice and no one was there to be found. The classroom lessons are a joke. No matter if the kid arrives early or late or stays for the whole time or leaves after the first session, they count for the whole day. This might be convenient for some but I believe it sets a bad example. On top of it all, there is a very rude man that works there (not Gus) that screamed at me through the phone in such a way that I just had to hang up the phone after telling him that my business with them was over.
