I never had lower back pain until after having a C-Section 2 years ago. After seeing the Orthopedist I was advised that I had a slight herniation at L3/L4 and surgery was an option. As a full time Mom I definitely did not want to have surgery but more importantly I didn't understand why all of this seemed to have started after my C-Section. I had been in great shape prior to pregnancy and remained active during pregnancy as well. Nothing made sense and now I was being told to take 3 different meds to manage the pain and schedule a surgery consult? Absolute craziness! During our first consult Dr. Nona asked me if anyone considered that my abdominal wall was weak and that could result in lower back pain. Let's just say my light bulb went on. No one had suggested such a simple reason (which actually made sense) why my lower back was in such excruciating pain. She also explained how the abdominal muscles support the spine, etc. Some of what she said was over my head but I was convinced Dr.Nona was a viable solution. I left that day with a 3 month treatment plan that included daily exercises, adjustments, a list of anti-inflammatory foods and supplements that I could purchase on my own. Dr.Nona also emphasized the importance of maintaining good posture during driving, on the play ground, etc. and the importance of practicing "mindfulness." After the first 2 weeks of treatment I started to notice a significant difference in my fatigue levels, all of a sudden I started feeling awake then I noticed I wasn't going for the Percocet bottle every 8 hours, something good was going on. After a month or so I noticed my quality of sleep increased and it didn't hurt to lift up my son or get down on the ground to play with him. My quality of life was increasing so much so I forgot about my pain. I had always hated having adjustments but even they started to feel good. Dr. Nona said something about nerve pressure, endorphins but I didn't care why, I felt really good! It's been about 6 months since my initial treatment and I am new and improved. The Wellness Choice Ceter offers theraputic massage, weight loss and corrective chiropractic care services. The office is bright, welcoming, clean and modern. The facility has state of the art electronic devices and traction equiptment and the staff is friendly and accomodating. The waiting area has comfortableand chic funiture, complete with self service tea to help relax you prior to your appointment. i experienced a massage and found the experience wonderful. Inside the cozy room played tasteful & relaxing music while the sueded cotton sheets on the table felt absolutely amazing next to skin. It was the therapist's last day but she gave me the same excelent care and attention as any regular client would have received. I met Dr. Djavid on a follow up visit as part of the Living Social package I had purchased and found her to be well educated, genuine and refreshing to converse with. Her office is tip-top and her holistic approach to chiropractic wellness goes above and beyond the norm. I don't write many reviews because I simply don't feel the need to write about everything I experience. I am taking the time to write this review. because Wellness Choice has made such a difference in my health, in my work, and in my life. I used to wake up each morning with what I thought was a migraine headache that could only be resolved with 3 cups of coffee, 2 migraine headache pills, and an hour of my head in my hands keeping the light from my eyes. Only then did the pressure in my head lessen and only then could I begin to function. Someone suggested that I go to Wellness Choice to see if they could help. I didn't expect that they could help with my headaches, but they did! Within 2 weeks of care with the staff and doctors, I no longer woke with a migraine each morning. Probably the best I have felt in years, HANDS DOWN! I had been dreading sleeping at nights for months, because of the stinging and dull pain in my middle back. That's until I met Dr. Nona and the wonderful staff at Wellness Choice. Dr. Nona looked at my posture, and placed her finger on the exact source of my pain - without me telling her! I knew that she was going to be my chiropractor for LIFE. On Friday I received my first set of treatments, followed by a massage my husband had booked at their office... I WAS IN HEAVEN! Love love love coming here. Okay this review is for how the whole staff treated my best friend. She was in a car accident right near their Newport Beach office and called me crying that she was already hurting- 20 minutes after the car accident. Of course I immediately sent her to Wellness Choice to get her spine checked. Dr. Nona made time to see her outside of her regular office hours. She took x-rays and spent a whole hour with her making sure she understood what was going on with her and went over all her options. We are so glad she took x-rays because it had turned out that she had a fracture in her neck. I think of all those other times I had gone to chiropractors who didn't even look at my spine and just gave me adjustments. Not cool! In any case- my friend is under great care here! You go into any health care office and if they take xrays or whatever, common sense says you pay for services rendered. I am a runner who trains for marathons. While training for my last marathon I started experiencing sciatica for the first time. So, I heard that Wellness Choice Center helps with not only adults, but also children or babies. My sister just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, but he had difficulty turning his head as well as experiencing what is known as colic, which the doctors said it was normal and will go away after awhile. Well, I recommended her to this office, and Dr. Jane was so helpful! She was very knowledgeable and was very gentle with my nephew.
