This place is awful! I dropped off a load of lightly worn (bc I'm 75% wfh) white dress shirts that they returned to me yellowed!! Unfortunately, i was in the midst of rare, packed schedule of events that called for business dress, and i had to go to Brooks Brothers and grab all new shirts. When i approached Wells cleaners about their poor dry cleaning services, they denied, denied, and LIED. And they gave me no compensation for their wrong. AVOID this place!!!!!!!!!! read more

Terrible. Do not patronize this business regardless of how close they maybe to your location. I brought them a comforter to have cleaned and to have an approx. 2 inch stitch line restitched. The didn't clean the comforter as it had visible dust balls and they did not stitch the comforter. When I reported to them that they didn't clean it and they didn't stitch the comforter the woman working there "spoke no English" and just "hemmin and hawing". It was funny to hear her switch from thinking I was picking up to unable to communicate completely. Trust what I'm saying as I live less than 75yds away!!! read more

AVOID! Dropped off several shirts on a Thursday, and was back to pick them up Monday (a full 5 days), and they were not ready. Important meeting with no dress shirts meant I had to go home and iron one from earlier in the week. Cashier was not helpful, and told me it was my fault for assuming the capital "MONDAY" on the receipt meant you could pick up Monday morning (fine print says only after 5pm). On top of already high prices, they also over-charged me for a 2 piece suit (which I later had taken off the final bill after pointing out there was no suit). Wonder how many DC professionals don't think to check their total and just over-pay blindly? Will go elsewhere for dry cleaning from now on. Also, no parking. read more

Giving Wells a decent review until they lead me astray. They are really the only option in navy yard for dry cleaning which is unfortunate but even after reading crappy reviews I gave them a shot. Got a few things dry cleaned and a couple pairs of pants hemmed. Prices seemed ok- Blazer dry clean ($8) and pants hemmed ($15/pair). Pants hemmed well and no issues with the dry cleaning. They were able to rush an item when I asked. Hopefully they will continue to provide good service! read more

If a negative rating were possible, this place would absolutely deserve one. Ignoring the many negative reviews, I decided to give them a try because they are close to where I moved. First order in, the totally ruined an expensive sweater, draining all the color out of it. When I confronted the young man working there, he denied any responsibility and told me it was just an old sweater. Zero remorse or emotion. He could not even offer an apology of any kind. I felt I was dealing with a friggin' robot. Absolutely unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this place. They totally suck. read more

Generally ok, the guy at the counter is always nice. My husband had a button missing that was there when we dropped them off, then was charged for replacing it...? Is usually really quick and effective. Location is great and always has them cleaned on time. read more

Turn around time is way too long and to top it off, my dress pants came back to me with a grease like stain that was NOT there before. And its huge. I haven't taken it back yet to show them but based on other reviews I doubt they will do anything so I might not waste my time. Now I'm out $60. If you have any option on dry cleaners please have some dignity and don't patronize this business. Unfortunately convenient dry cleaning locations are difficult to find unless you live in Georgetown or Capitol Hill or something. However, I'll be searching for a new cleaners. read more

I'm pretty particular and happy to rate Wells with 5 stars. I've been using them weekly for 4-5 years for shirts, pants, and occasional bedding and outerwear. Have never been disappointed. They are always reliable and generous and I happily give them 5 stars. Highly recommend. read more

RIDICULOUS prices! I went here to get a plain business dress hemmed, no biggie I asked them to let it out as far as it could go (1 inch approximately). He sent me on my way and I looked at the receipt since he never told me a price and it was FORTY DOLLARS. To let out a plain hem with no lining, simple dress!!! Just moved to the area and thought I'd give this place a chance despite the negative reviews. A black dress came back still covered in my dog's white hair. I've had several black blouses/dresses/suits cleaned over the years and never had an issue like that. A blouse came back with two issues: (1) a stain that was NOT there prior to drop off (I suspect it was cleaning solvent); and (2) a stitch professionally put in to close a low neckline had come loose and was now visible (again, despite the blouse undergoing prior rounds of dry cleaning with no issue). read more

I live across the street so obviously I used this place because of convenience. Over the past couple of years I have not had any problems. There was an older lady there and she was extremely pleasant and made you feel welcomed. She has moved on. My recent and "last" visit not so pleasant . In fact it was left unresolved . I purchased an evening gown that I wore once and took it in for cleaning. Which by the way it really did not need. The gown was promised to me on a Wednesday when I took it in. When I arrived I was told there was a stain they were working on. I commented there were no stains on the dress when I took it in. The young man just gave me a blank stare. I arrived the next day to find they had ruined this dress. The dress was black and white. The white part was now gray. I took the dress but I was not happy. The next day I took the dress back and they offered to clean again. Big mistake the dress was still gray when returned to me they offered no settlement. In fact I paid $17 to have them ruin a $300 dress. I will NEVER step foot in the door of this place again!!! Very sad especially since it was the convenience that I loved. updated August 1,2016 I have downgraded this to 1 star! As I am wearing summer clothes that I had cleaned during the winter I am finding more and more that the clothes were just pressed and placed in a plastic bag. Meh. Dry cleaners have 4 ways to distinguish themselves: location, price, turnaround time, and customer service. This place is cheaper than the in-house service at Foundry Lofts, but it is more expensive than washio. I've dealt with two employees. One is friendly and the other isn't. The default turnaround time is longer than most (and especially washio) and the older employee gives you frown if you ask for turnaround in 1 to 2 days. So basically what this place has going for it is a good location...if you live/work in the immediate area. read more

I dropped my suit off at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. It was supposed to be ready by 5 p.m. I showed up at 1:30 to pick my stuff up, the person working told me to come back at 4:30. I showed up at 4:30, my suit was not ready. I came back at 4:54, he told me my stuff was not ready. I was outside until 4:56 (no truck was there). He told me he would call me when it arrived. He did not call and at 6 p.m. when I came back, the employee told me, my stuff was on time. So he is saying that in 3 minutes, the truck arrived, dropped off my suit and they had it ready to be picked up. I seriously doubt that. I asked him if they had a check-in time and he said no. I asked him to take off to take off the cumberbun that I had pressed which cost a whole $3 of my $23 cleaning fee. He refused. Don't use this place. They are expensive, inconvenient, and rude. read more

Ruined a two dress shirts that was supposed to only be cleaned. Came back with a patch on it, the other had a ripped sleeve. When I returned the same day to ask about the shirts they said "we only sent it to be cleaned" So somehow one shirt came back with a patch on it that looks like it was used to test how threading works( shirt was completely ruined,could not remove patch with multiple layers of threading) The other dress shirt had a rip in the elbow. They accepted ZERO responsibility for the shirts and acted like they didnt understand what was going on. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. The dry cleaner my husband and I used in the Navy Yard closed so we started going with Wells. They are nearly never open on time and often close early. To top it all off they ruined my favorite dress. They were rude about claiming that the dress shouldn't be dry cleaned (who ever heard of a dress that can't be dry cleaned). I showed them the dry clean only tag and they still insisted that it shouldn't have been dry cleaned. Never will go back. read more

I love this place. They will do an even faster turnaround than they usually offer if you ask. Tailoring has always been very high quality, but I usually only use it for hems and waist band adjustments. This is the best dry cleaners in the area and FAR superior to the concierge dry cleaners offered at my apartment building. Price is reasonable. My only complaint is that I wish they would use better hangers for skirts because I lost one; I think it fell off the hanger while I was walking home with my finished cleaning. read more

This place is fine in terms of pricing and will usually turn something around in 1-2 days. That being said, they NEVER open anytime close to their posted opening time. They are supposed to open at 8AM Monday through Friday. Over the past six months I've tried to drop off shirts on my way into work several times. Every single time - without fail - the cashier is significantly late. Not five minutes late. At least 30 minutes late. It is extremely usual to have to wait 45 minutes or more for them to actually open. It makes this place effectively useless unless you work from home or don't care about dropping off/picking up before work. I've only given them this many chances because they're literally across the street from my apartment. Never again. If I could give a zero rating for reliability I would. It's worth it to walk/drive elsewhere. read more

Got to Wells at 8 am when they are supposed to open but standing outside in the freezing cold because no one is here to open the store still at 8:20. Had to leave don't know if anyone ever showed up. They are only still open due to the location, imagine if they knew how to run a business. I'll have to find another option. read more

I got exactly what I expected from a dry cleaner. Turnaround is a few business days, but it's not a problem if you take about half or 2/3rds of your shirts at a time and keep a few to tide you over. I'd love a same day turnaround for morning dropoffs but I can live. I've only dealt with the older woman who is nice and makes a point of letting me know that she appreciates my business. Definitely a good location since I live in the riverfront area and I hate waiting for Soapy Joes/whatever they've changed their name to to deliver back to my building at their convenience. read more
