- Great for outdoor plants - I wrote a review for this place ages ago when I was only interested in succulents. Their succulents are very limited, and they don't have that many different types of echeverias here. However, I got in outdoor plants two years ago since I got a bigger yard, and this place has been great for me since. This place is not gigantic like the flower world, nor is their price amazing. However, it's located in an expensive area in Bellevue and the price is reasonable given its location. They have a lot of shrubs and trees on top of other outdoor plants, and a small collection of indoor houseplants. They have many different types of fruit trees, including cherry, blueberry, kiwi, fig, grape, and so on. They also have rare ones but they are gone since they only have 4-5 of each type. I'm not sure if they keep more somewhere else. They have tons of different rhododendrons with different colors (white, orange, res, purple, yellow, etc). The bigger size costs $55, and the small one is around $23. I've found the same one (big size) at Costco for $25 or so, so it's important to know what you are looking for. Don't come here for common plants, but the rare ones that's harder to find elsewhere. Oh yeah, they also have 6-7 types of clematis here as well. I've gotten several lilacs here last year, and they are all blooming and growing nicely in my yard. I also love their Allium giganteum display around the "fountain" so much that I bought some bulbs and planted some in my yard. read more

Every time I visit this Nursery I leave thinking that I will never come back. There is not enough parking, it is hard to find things, and there is no one to ask. Lastly, an ordinary fruit tree is $175. Tomorrow I will go to Flower World and buy the same fruit tree for $50. read more

We had stopped at our neighborhood nursery but they didn't have any tabletop Christmas trees so ventured a bit farther and went to Wells Medina. They were extremely friendly and it is a really sweet nursery fortunately easy to social distance right now. They had a few small trees and we found the perfect one for this year. read more

My husband and I completely renovated our landscape and had a blank slate to work with. We removed all the grass in the front yard. We wanted some showy and easy care perennials and trees our landscaper could not find and off we went to Wells-Medina. The staff were very helpful with suggestions and and helped us find everything we needed as well as delivered them to our home for a small fee. Last year I donated a tree to Medina Park as part of their memorial donation program. We selected a spot and Pat suggested a dogwood would do well in there. I immediately knew that I wanted a scarlet fire dogwood, since I had only seen them once, the color blew me away and the blooms are later in the season so they they provide color once almost every other tree has lost its blooms. I usually buy my plants from Wells Medina Nursery (and the kind folks at Medina Park would pick up the tree for me and prep it for planting if I bought it at Wells Medina Nursery), so I called them and asked them if they had any in stock. They did! They had five trees tagged as scarlet fire dogwoods, so I immediately drove there and picked one out. They held it for me until the folks at Medina Park came to pick it up. Then we had a planting ceremony and I've been taking care of the tree (fertilizer, etc.) and memorial plaque on the regular. I was suprised to see buds on the tree in May, since the scarlet fire doesn't bloom until July/August. Then, they turned into the standard white/pinkish dogwood blooms. I did not get a scarlet fire dogwood from Wells Medina Nursery, though the tree I purchased was tagged as one. I was very disappointed, since I had been looking forward to seeing a pop of color that was different from all the other dogwood trees at Medina Park and the neighborhood in general. And the tree meant so much to me being a memorial donation and I had wanted it to stand out. There was nothing that really can be done now...it's my memorial tree and I'm going to continue taking care of it. But I did contact Wells Medina Nursery to let them know of the issue and to find out if they could figure out what went wrong and why the wrong tree was delivered? And if they could try to make sure this didn't happen to anyone else, especially in a case like mine where the tree was for a memorial donation and very sentimental. That was a month ago. The reason for the 1 star review is that they never got back to me. I even sent a follow up message and still crickets. They did not even bother to apologize or explain what they thought went wrong in the system and what steps they were taking to correct it. Not one word. This showed me that while I thought I was supporting a family owned local business that would care about its customers more, I was wrong. They do not care at all about their customers. read more

I really wanted to love Wells Medina Nursery. They're close by and really convenient when I need to pick up plants. But every time I go here, I can't help but feel like staff are looking down on me/don't really care to provide me with any kind of customer service. There was an indoor plant I wanted to purchase, and the staff couldn't tell me ANYTHING about its water needs, light needs, or even what type of plant it was. Honestly, it was kind of bizarre. While they have an okay selection of plants, I wouldn't come back here and would prefer to drive to Seattle, Redmond or Woodinville for my plant needs. read more

I do want to note to the owners that Rene impressed us immensely with fabulous customer service, helpful advice and her extensive knowledge went a long way in the design process. For anyone with a large project to do, their prices and variety are excellent. I bought several of the $3.69 pots (various lavenders, astratias, succulents, dianthus and a gorgeous fuchsia creeping ice). Some of their hydrangeas were exquisitely pretty (especially the lace caps) and were very hard to walk away from. They even had this crazy pink geranium, bright enough to see from space. I like the way plants are organized around trellised & protected walk ways so you can explore them even when it is raining. Their employees seem to be in charge of sections of plants. I asked 3 different people for help & everyone seemed polite and knowledgable. It's all about the plants here & I'm very glad they don't have a cafe. Keeps their parking lot from getting crowded up with tea and biscuiteers. read more

I have had some positive and some negative experiences with Wells Medina over the years. My most recent was very negative. I spent almost $800 there last summer, thousands over the years. Two of the plants I purchased did not survive to this summer. When I asked for an exchange, the manager informed me that the return policy is only 90 days. When I expressed surprise at the policy, she said I should have shopped at Home Depot if I wanted a longer return policy. I paid a very high premium to shop at Wells Medina and expected a longer return policy as part of the much higher price. I too felt looked down on in the way she addressed me. And for me it is not even a racial issue. Flower World, and McAuliffe's in Snohomish both provide an equally good or better product for much more reasonable prices. And the drive is pretty. I will not shop at Wells Medina again. read more

The selection is the best around - diverse species, quality material, and reasonable quantities. The staff is very knowledgeable, and yes, a bit eccentric. Jim saved my lemon tree! I called the nursery to get tips on how to help my poor dying lemon tree (i grew it from a seed from a store bought lemon, it's nearly 3 years old now, so i'm a bit attached). I first called the nursery and from Jim learned that my dishsoap and water combo to kill the bugs on the tree may have been more successful in killing the tree than anything else. We came in with the nearly leafless and stinky tree, he replanted it into the right soil (cactus/citrus soil) and into a much smaller pot, advised to not overwater it (or feed it as it's in a sort of ICU), advised that a little root shoulder should stick out a little from the top of the soil, advised how to kill the bugs in a way that won't kill the plant (dab each bug with a little rubbing alcohol), and sent us away with no charge. He was no nonsense, very knowledgable, and helpful in the best kind of way. Now a month later, my tree is sprouting new healthy looking leaf clusters and looks to be on the mend. We are definitely blown away by the how helpful Jim was and will be coming back for future plant purchases. read more

Small? It's five of God's green acres of nursery. Yes, maybe it is a bit more expensive than a big-box retailer but it's a pleasant shopping experience (except the ill-behaved Bellevue children who need to be told NO once in a while). A big variety of plants (not much in the way of inside plants, though). Helpful and plenty of staff. If you want geraniums or pansies probably best to go to Fred Meyer; they'll have a better selection at better prices. But if you're looking for something not quite so ubiquitous, head over the bridge to Wells-Medina. They're good at anticipating busy days and have valet parking to take care of you. read more

SUPER freaking HUGE nursery tucked away in the residential area of Medina right off of 520. They are definitely pretty pricey, but they have a damn good selection of plants and I could walk around here forever. I have been going to Wells for years and appreciate the helpful staff and inviting atmosphere. During the COVID-19 pandemic they have been wearing masks and gloves and have set up the nursery for social distancing and make sure that each person who visits wears a mask. Much appreciated. We love Wells Medina, and just recently I have been looking for a few Lenten rose Helleborus, and Medina had over 10 different kinds! All were beautiful and there was a wide variety of colors. This nursery has the best selection out there. I needed a few very specific, unique plants this summer and they had them. I purchased some white marigolds from in the springtime for some containers and they're STILL going strong! The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable and they are taking COVID very seriously. Located a couple of miles west of Bellevue in the Medina neightborhood you''ll find Wells Medina Nursery. This is what I would call a 'No Frills' nursery. By that I mean they don't have a fancy gift shop or alot of indoor plant displays. What they do have is a good selection of very reasonably priced seasonal annuals at any given time of the year. And an expansive collection of trees and shrubs, perennials, and palms. It's actually quite large and from the different varieties of plants, some fairly unusual, the owners clearly know their stuff. In addition and I've never seen this before at a nursery, they have a small office in front set up as a horticultural 'research library' for their customers. It's an inviting room with a desk and computer for customers to do online plant research and bookshelves lined with gardening and horticulture books for inspiration. Nice touch. read more
