Mr. Welty, my name is Hank Friedman, and I'm a retired businessman now teaching "Leadership Development in Business" at the College of the Desert here in Palm desert, CA. I recently had an experience at your Welty's Postal Connection store on Washington Street in Palm Desert. My wife and I used your company to send a small package to our Grandson in Florida, were charged $21 by your company, and were told that we could track the package's progress to its final destination. Two days later, we attempted to do so. No such luck. We were advised by one of your employees via telephone that the package had apparently not been scanned for tracking. Upon receiving that info, we went to your store for further information. We met a nice young lady who, try as she might, could only tell us what we already knew. Then, for some reason, a rather glib clownish buffoon named "Jo Jo", who had more piercings and studs in his face than brains in his cranium, insisted on butting-in. He proceeded to tell us in a rather rude and offensive manner that, and I quote, "Look, it's the Christmas season, and the Postal Service is using a bunch of temps to do their work. Once your package leaves here, it's no longer our responsibility. If you've got a problem with that, take it up with the Postal Service." He finished-up with, "Here you are being hostile about something that's GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH US." Are you kidding me? Mr. Welty, never once did he say, "I know how you must feel about this, and I'll look into what's happened." He didn't even say, "I'm sorry." All he did was (1) disavow ANY responsibility for the unfortunate situation, (2) blame an unknown postal employee who provides YOU with a service YOU pay for, (3) embarrass you as his employer, and (4) cost you an untold number of customers...many of whom are reading this, even if you aren't. Congratulations Mr. Welty, you have a real winner there in "Jo Jo" !@#$%? Truth be told, if he were in my class, or in any other class, he'd have flunked and been "shown the door" long ago. Mr. Welty, lest you question what's been said so far, I respectfully ask that you consider the following. If we've all learned nothing else in dealing with business enterprises, it's that, more often than not, an employee IS an accurate reflection of his or her employer. That would be YOU, Mr. Welty. Clearly, our recent experience with Welty's Postal Connection was not your finest moment...nor does "Jo Jo", in his current state, appear to be an asset to your business enterprise. He had the gall to take our package, take our money, obligate your business to provide a contracted service, and when that service apparently failed, tell us "It's no longer our responsibility." and "If you have a problem with that, take it up with the Postal Service." Are you kidding me? Mr. Welty, you're undoubtedly aware of the old adage that says "When any company fails to treat a customer correctly, it'll lose that customer...AND 9 or 10 potential customers that the original customer tells." Well, Mr. Welty, it's now FAR worse than that. Given our access to social media, Facebook, and venues like Yelp and others, those "9 or 10 potential customers" has now expanded to hundreds or thousands of potential customers, depending on how many people choose to research their potential service providers. As an aside, your on-site cameras should have revealed that after watching how "Jo Jo" handled our situation, two of your potential customers left your "waiting line area", and told us in the parking lot, "Gee, that was an eye-opener. We're going elsewhere." That's 2 down, 98 to go!!! IF you have the courage and/or professional integrity to call me to either inform me of some misunderstanding, explain your support of "Jo Jo", or even apologize, I can be reached at (760) 422-4479. I came to ask a few questions on how to get my live scan for my real estate license and a lady with horrible attitude and with the intention of showing off by trying to diminish me with the tone of her voice , made me never want to come back to this store. She might be the owner or manager ( I didn't even look at her name tag because she makes you don't want to look at her face) . This lady needs to take customer service classes or change her behavior towards the customer's. read more

I came here for a bunch of notary work a few days ago. The clerk was very helpful and knowledgable. She walked me through everything step by step and was very patient. I then shipped my documents over night via fedex at a reasonable price, and even got some keys made :) Outside of the service the office is very clean and tidy. You can tell the owner takes great pride in his business. read more

The look on Jojo's face, watching us lug in a ton of stuff to mail--priceless. He was mentally calculating our packing & mailing challenge. Jojo patiently provided info & options, providing a reasonable price to pack and mail 5 boxes. If you're visiting the Desert & need stuff to mail back home, Welty's is a total thumbs up. read more
