I had bought a groupon when I called to make an appointment the owner said I couldn't use it because I had already gone there. You think they would let me use it because there clearly having trouble getting clients because there on Groupon All the time. I have short and thin hair took 22-23 minutes to cut my hair. I didn't get it blowed dry because I thought it would be cheaper still charged me full price. Disappointed with the lack of keeping me as a client. I bought the groupon for color consult, highlights, cut, and style. I couldn't be happier! Sue actually listened to what I wanted. She gave me honest feedback on what would be best for my hair and we agreed on a game plan. The color came out great! I didn't go too crazy with the cut (I like to keep my length). Then she curled my hair so it would look like the pictures I showed her in the beginning. Overall, I would definitely return to this salon and recommend to everyone! read more

I tried out Wendy's salon services at WendyO Salon and she was terrible. My hair color did NOT turn out the color she showed me on a palette. Then she did not call me back to schedule to fix her mistake. Apparently, I now need corrective coloring, which ironically, she offers! She also charges as much if not more than the larger well-established salons, but does not have full time staff to return phone calls. No coffee unless you like powdered creamer. I am a nearly life-long patron of Wendy Oulette, and cannot do enough to sing her praises. Even after I moved from the Acton area, I would plan appointments a month out and travel almost an hour to get to her salon. Wendy has seen me through many of my life milestones, from my Bat Mitzvah, to prom, to a trim before my first big job interview after college. The few times I have strayed from her, most recently when I was living abroad for a period of time, I came rushing through her door very shortly after landing back on American soil, and she was always more than capable at restoring my hair-confidence. I was so pleased for Wendy when she branched off and started her own salon, and it was very exciting to see her pass her three year milestone. She proved that she was not only a skilled hairdresser, but a smart business woman. For those of you considering visiting Wendy for the first time, check out her extensive online presence first. I have on many occasions referenced her youtube videos for styling tips, and have even sent her messages online on how to achieve a certain style, which she was very quick to respond to. I've been going to Ira Glickler for more than 12 years now; he used to be at a neighboring salon, and has gone independent now with a chair at WendyO. (www.hairbyira.com) Obviously, I like Ira -- he's a great guy, and both my teenage son and I like the way he cuts our hair. So clearly he's versatile, and can adapt the cut to the hair. What I particularly like is that he's adjusted to the changes in my hair (grayer, lighter, not as wavy) over the years, and has gracefully suggested changes without being at all pushy. I also really like the salon -- the people are very friendly, the atmosphere is very comfortable ... and there's free coffee :-) read more

Both Wendy and Sue are extremely friendly, accommodating and masters at their craft. My hair always looks amazing when Sue is finished with it and I greatly enjoy my time I spend there. She takes the time to discuss what I want and what would be best for me and then delivers on what we discussed. Groupon had expired, so scheduled an appt at regular price, same service. Wendy refused to accept the value of the groupon as a voucher towards that service. So "new clients only" apparently applies to face value (i.e. amount paid) of Groupon. Groupon issue: This would have been okay with disclosure but there is NOTHING on the Groupon itself that warns that "new clients" applies to amount paid (& that we can't use face value either). Issue with Wendy: Groupon should suspend/stop all offers by this vendor. It is unacceptable to trap people into a worthless voucher without warning them. I have found ALL vendors so far accept the face value even if Groupon has expired. Except for Wendyo. She informs me when I am on the chair that they can't accept the Groupon even at face value (no explanation for this strange "policy"). She also assured me that Groupon would refund with no issues, turned out to be false. Follow up: I try to patronize women-owned businesses. Inspite of the groupon not being accepted at face value, I didn't cancel my appt, because I didn't want to deprive the assigned stylist of the fees for the scheduled appt. I also tipped, I know this is a business that runs on patrons. My original and updated organized review above focused on the joint issue where Groupon was unclear and Wendy inflexible. Her response is a long-winded tale of fiction. Please see suppressed reviews - WendyO treats Groupon customers differently "you'll like what we dish out and take it" is the attitude at that salon. Wendy is incapable of processing negative feedback, issuing an apology. She will accuse you of bullying, beg and threaten you if you don't retract your review. She has posted my name without my consent (this is her way to threaten or bully), defamed me online by accusing me of a scam. She has slammed another reviewer who left her negative feedback for brain health issues - concept of privacy does not apply. Extremely unprofessional. Scary reaction with intimidation. If you there, don't talk to her about anything personal. And beware bringing up your dissatisfaction with service. Not happy. Went on a groupon and did not like the haircut or the color. My hair looks worse than before with no shape or style. Support your small local businesses! Wendy is amazing! I have been seeing her since I was in junior high, I think? I'm 25 now and I have followed her 3 times now to 3 separate salons! Finally, she has her own place! Wendy owns and operates and manages her own salon now! And, it's fabulous! Located conveniently in West Acton across from the Mobil station in that big white building. Everybody should come here! Wendy styles for both men and women, cut and color, and also does hair styling for special occasions, weddings or proms or anything. I have to say that for years I have gotten comments on how great my hair and my color is and I have recommended so many people to her. My old roommate and her whole family, her parents, go see Wendy now. That just goes to show you that she can do the whole range, men and women, older more traditional and also younger and more modern/trendy. I knew this one woman who asked me where I got my hair done and she drove to Acton from Boston to have Wendy style her hair for her 30th birthday party! Got a good haircut when I went there the first time. However, when I went there the second time with a Groupon, the problems started - they refused to take it stating some nonsensical reason and promising to take it next time. Next time they claimed that I was just there recently and refused to acknowledge their promise on the previous visit. I decided not to get a haircut and left, disappointed and frustrated. I hope to get a refund from Groupon and regret my generous tips on previous occasions. I am Responding to the Owners reply to my poor rating given to on my experience at Wendydos Hair Salon in West Acton. FIrstly, she is so quickly to point out I am Deborah Robinson. I am and I am proud of that. When you sign in to Yelp, apparently a Facebook sign in comes up. Not my choice, but feel free to use my almost full name. I attempted to come in on a Monday that week-you were closed. I did not choose a "so called busy Saturday" on purpose. And dear Wendydo-I did not barge in rudely-I quietly went over to Jessica my stylist for years and spoke to her in a low key voice-(She did not have a customer near her at that time.She then quietly asked you about the return of the product which I used once-You then spoke so your two or three customers, at most, could hear the conversation. I informed you of my thoughts and informed you the product simply stunk (fact), in my opinion. I never went on line to check out your salon-I figured my stylist of years went there to work so it must be a very reputable place of business. Your signage of returns should be clearly posted as required by the State of Massachusetts-not in small letters on your bottom shelf. I did not require a dissertation on credit cards-if you read my feedback-I said I could live with that part. I also noticed that when someone complains on Yelp, you immediately try and call them out for something being bullyest about their feedback. Let me sum this up by saying-I personally do not find your shop comfortable nor honest. I will not be using your shop anymore than you would want me as a customer.
