a hand holding a chicken sandwich
    Mateo M.

The stars(or lack there of) for this place speak for themselves, at least with respect to service. I had a free chicken sandwich, or I would have been really disappointed by the service. All I needed to do was pick up a mobile order, but when I walked into the empty store, I was greatest with a blank stare by the employee behind the counter. He had headphones in, and a thousand yard stare, no acknowledgment at all. I looked around, no one at all in the restaurant, and this guy just staring blankly ahead. I asked about picking up the mobile order...and it literally took 5 seconds of awkward silence before he turned to ask me my order info. After I answered, he then just turned and walked away onto the kitchen, and was gone for a few minutes while I stood there twiddling my thumbs I guess. He then returned, shoved the bag across the counter, and went back to staring blankly ahead. What an interesting Wendy's experience! The spicy chicken sandwich was great though, so props to the folks working in the kitchen!

Nasty old lettuce & tomato they tried to serve me on my burger

I ordered the new cinnabon pull apart and ofc it was cold, hard, dry and the best part, the cream cheese drizzle that goes on top DIDNT EXIST!! why would they actually make something right. The lettuce and tomato on my burger was nasty and old so I couldn't eat that either smh, I spent $20 on food that is incomplete, old, nasty looking and literally uneatable. Dont recommend this place and will not return. I cant rate the dinning area ambiance b/c it was closed at 4pm! Had to give 1 star or I cant post.

I went literally for the frosty sundae thingy with the ghiradelli chocolate syrup and cookies. On Tuesday they didn't have anymore cookies, so I opted for a regular vanilla frosty. I returned on Thursday (don't judge me LOL) to try again. I also ordered fries as well. The fries were lukewarm, but they weren't stingy with the portion. This cookie frosty sundae thing: not even worth it. First of all, they could have given me more syrup. Secondly, I'm unsure if the ice cream is the same. It tasted totally different from a regular frosty. A regular frosty's texture is sweet & creamy; kinda thick. The ice cream that cake with the cookie frosty sundae was runny and not even sweet for real. I honestly felt cheated. The only reason why this got 2 stars is because the cookie was good LOL. The cookie tasted like homemade cookies...you know how store bought, mass manufactured cookies taste vs. homemade...with the slightly crispy bottom? Yea, that haha

Worst Wendy's in the area. Old brown lettuce, bad food, bad service.

Worst Wendy's on the area. Bad food, bad service. Check your sandwiches before you bite into them. Brown lettuce, clearly old chicken, no tomato at least. Stale nuggets at all times of the day. Horrible.

Decided to stop by this Wendy's, big mistake. Wasted money on a barely there chicken sandwich and cold fries. Very disappointed.

Got to be the slowest Wendy's I've ever been to. Multiple trips and always takes at least 15 minutes!

Sometimes simple of the way to go. Lettuce, American Cheese, tomatoes, crinkled pickles, onions, and their "good good sauce." This all came together with the 100% premium angus beef (antibiotic and hormone free) smash-burgers perfectly cooked. The fried were very good, nicely crispy, but not overdone. Service was friendly and very quick. I highly recommend this place if you want a great burger.

Optimist Hall itself is a very food-centric, upscale food hall with a ton of vendors, so the atmosphere is energetic and fun. Seating can be a little challenging during peak dinner hours since so many people are grabbing food from different spots, but when the weather is nice there's plenty of outdoor seating. Harriet's keeps their burger formula refreshingly simple. It's a classic smash burger done right--made to order with a straightforward menu that doesn't overcomplicate things. There's usually a line, but it moves pretty quickly, and the burgers come out hot and fresh. One of the best parts of eating here is the flexibility of the food hall experience. While you're waiting, you can grab a craft beer, a glass of wine, or even browse for dessert from one of the other vendors. Insider tip: Come with a group if you can. It's a great place to share fries and let everyone explore different vendors around the hall. Parking is fairly easy with the nearby garage, which makes the whole experience even more convenient. Overall, Harriet's is a fun, delicious stop for a smash burger, especially if you're already enjoying the energy of Optimist Hall.

As a West Coast transplant now living in Charlotte, I have very specific standards when it comes to…read moreburgers. For me, the gold standard isn't fancy -- it's balance. Think that perfect meat-cheese-bread ratio you get at an In-N-Out: not too big, not too messy, not dripping everywhere, but still juicy and satisfying. A burger you can actually pick up and enjoy without resorting to a knife and fork like George Costanza. That's why I appreciate Ace No. 3. Their menu is refreshingly simple -- burgers, fries, shakes -- and that simplicity tells me they know exactly what they do well. Everything is made to order, and the consistency shows. The Ace burger is my go-to, and it delivers every time. The shoestring fries are excellent, and the sweet potato tots are another favorite. I've also treated myself to a milkshake here and there, and they're worth it. Fun bonus: they offer "boozy shakes" for adults, which adds a playful twist -- just note they have to be enjoyed on site. They also keep a short, rotating list of beers, which I appreciate. It's curated, not overwhelming. One thing I noticed recently -- and as a fellow marketer, I have to applaud this -- is their milkshake happy hour from 2-4 PM. That's a smart strategy to drive traffic during slower hours between lunch and dinner. Simple, effective, and well executed. A few practical notes: Parking can be a little tight because the lot behind the restaurant is small, but if you go during off-peak hours or order ahead for pickup, it's manageable. The Belmont neighborhood location is easy to get in and out of, and while it's not a high-traffic pedestrian area, that can actually work in your favor. Bottom line: As someone who grew up with West Coast burger culture, this is the closest I've found in Charlotte to that classic, satisfying bite -- even if it costs a bit more than In-N-Out. The quality and execution make it worth it. Get out there, eat well, be curious -- and follow me as I continue eating my way through Charlotte.
