General's Chicken Rangoons Egg roll Fried rice
    Michael S.

I was a bit skeptical walking in since it didn't look open. But today I wanted Chinese and a friend recommended this spot. They say they order out from here but haven't been inside. I was the only one in there when I went. Staff were really nice and helpful. Well from my experience this time I'd give the food 5/10. The chicken was pretty good but the rice was pretty sad. Nothing inside when you asked for fried rice. Just rice and soy sauce. Adding to that, then most of the crab rangoons were hot on the outside but, cold in the middle. Not really a fan of that. Eggrolls were good. Pretty big and full of ingredients. Other thing, it was kind of warm inside a few times, and the restroom needed some attention.

This place has been here for a while and I finally decided to give it a try as it's near my home and I really wanted a good salt and pepper shrimp or calamari. I ordered a few different items: Crab Rangoon 3/5 - some of them were pretty empty, the tops were crispy but the bottom was kind of chewy- I tried them as soon as I picked up my order so it wasn't because they were to go. The filling that I did get was good but a tad sweeter than I like. Salt and pepper shrimp: 3.5/5 pretty good and spicy but these were not crispy at all, I expected the jalapeño to be larger but it was diced. - you can choose steamed rice, plain fried rice or some other kind of rice. I picked plain fried 1/5 super bland . Garlic scallops: 2.5/5 - this should be labeled bell peppers in sweet brown sauce instead. There might have been 2 scallops total in this thing that They slice super thin like a poker chips. The dish was mainly bell peppers & was not garlic tasting either. I see why I haven't gone here before, something told me I would be disappointed. This place is to go orders only so when you walk in the left side of the restaurant is used as storage and the right side has a couple booths , obviously not for dining in. Won't be returning.

The shrimp curry, salt and pepper shrimp, and egg drop soup are very good. Everything is ordered to go, but the food is very good.

Very good Chinese food. Decent size portions. A little skimpy with the soy sauce packets

Are the chicken dishes made with breast meat or dark (thigh) meat?

Hidden gem for sure. Not your typical menu, seems to be a fusion of sorts. So don't expect…read moretraditional Vietnamese items, it's more creative. Service was fast, friendly and welcoming. The inside was vey inviting and tastefully decorated. We had the Beef Bulgogi Bao, this was really yummy. The bao was soft and delightful. The beef had a sweet bulgogi glaze that worked really well with it. The rest of the toppings added a nice balance without overpowering the meat. My only wish was that it was 4 baos and not two since they are so small. The highlight was the Firecracker Shrimp. Be warned this is not a spicy dish like you might think from the name. The crispy shrimp was crunchy and not soggy at all, it felt pretty clean and not greasy. It came with salad, rice and a spicy soy sauce and it was just so good. With 12 shrimp, it's definitely shareable between 2 people. Lastly we had the Vietnamese iced coffee which was $6. It tasted like Ovaltine and was mostly ice with just a few sips. I wouldn't recommend it unless the cup size is increased or the price is decreased. So overall, it's a bit pricey. The menu was also a little confusing. We checked online prior to coming and they had a lot of stuff but when at the restaurant, there were only a few items listed which caught us off guard. We actually ended up ordering the wrong item (firecracker shrimp when we actually wanted dynamite shrimp, ultimately it worked out cuz it was delicious but the problem still stands). So those are the only cons I can think off. Other than that, The place was fantastic. Did not think Hutto would have a place of this caliber. We will be back to try the rest of the items, it all looked so good. Definitely will be a repeat customer. 4.5 stars rounded up for now.

I'm from San Francisco and travel to New York monthly for work, so I'd consider myself a bit of a foodie, and this place delivered. Austin really needs more Asian street food spots like this. We were honestly shocked to find something this good in Hutto of all places. The staff was also incredibly kind and welcoming to our two toddlers, which made the experience even better. The food came out quickly and everything we tried was delicious. Definitely worth a 5-star.

We came during happy hour and sadly the food was beyond sub par. Combo fried rice The peas in the rice were still frozen and unthawed. Our 16 month old daughter couldn't even chew them. So anytime we eat sushi we pick somewhere else: but this time I said it's so close to the house, screw it let's give it a try. So glad we did!!! When we first walked in we honestly almost left it was 11:30 and we were literally the only table there. The table at the entry was covered in clutter the bar was covered in clutter and being the only ones there we were quite concerned. But I'm glad we stuck it out. We did the all you can eat, they have a toll separate menu for it. I think we tried everything on it! Everything we had, minus the ice cream, was incredible! Our server was fantastic too, she was friendly and always had a smile. It's no Uchi but for a local spot and for the price, we will be back for lunch for sure!
