I had to order due to being and work and was afraid it would be cold. However, the food was hot and delicious. It was worth the wait and I would order again

So, I am Puertorican here recently decided to come to wepaa after craving some mofongo. Where else in Largo are you able to find some authentic Puerto Rican meal? None other than wepaa. They have done some renovations since my last visit and wanted to evaluate my experience. I only dined in for part of my meal and took the mofongo with pernil to go. The vibe inside in nice and clean. Art on wall reflecting Puerto Rico. They have a TV and in the new space a full bar. Seating is now abundant with the additional space. I had the beef empanadas and the pizza empanadas. I really enjoyed the flavor of the meat on the empanada l, really took me back to the island. The pizza empanada I would not recommend. We got our first one cold and the second really wasn't enjoyable. Either way the real empanadas was the beef. I also had the mofongo and again they got it out of the park, I recently visited Puerto Rico and was impressed with the food on the island l, thankfully the food here is equally as good. The service was also Johnny on the spot, once the cold empanada was identified she quickly corrected the problem and confirmed it was good before leaving the table.

This was 5/5 stars. The food was delicious and felt home cooked. The service we had from our waiter Joahan was incredible. We will be back!

This place serves phenomenal food, it's a casual setting, no view, but you come here to eat and oh boy is the food among the best in Tampa Bay. Go eat here.

We pass by here so often and keep saying we're going to try this place so we finally made it happen. We came here for lunch on a Saturday. The ambiance is festive and has decor that hints at their Puerto Rican roots. I went for the Cuban sandwich which was delicious and was a good portion. My husband and daughter ordered several different empanadas (they come 1 per order). What they weren't prepared at the size as they were expecting them to be smaller. They tried the shrimp, beef, chicken, and beef with plantains. My husband's favorite was the beef. He found the chicken to be a little dry, and the beef with plantains didn't have a lot of filling. My daughter liked all of her choices. We also did a side of plantains and those were delicious. Our server was friendly, but the service wasn't speedy. For a while it appeared she may have been working the entire restaurant by herself. We saw some other dishes that intrigued us so I'd say we'll be back to try some other things.

Had the skirt steak, with chimichurri it was a cute place not busy, got in and out. Staff was really nice. Actually ran by Puerto Ricans according to the bar tender

Food was the best outside of Puerto Rico! The coconut shrimp with guava sauce was perfect, not too sweet and breading flavorful. The Picanha steak and chimichurri sauce were excellent. Staff was friendly and ambiance is excellent!

I lived in Puerto Rico for a couple years and I love Puerto Rican food. My wife is also half Puerto rican. Wepa is one of the few Puerto rican spots in Pinellas County. I went years ago and it was a little tiny place. We just went recently and they have expanded into the space next door. It's decorated very nicely with all kinds of Puerto Rican themed art. Its very clean and a pleasant place to eat. Their bar is stocked up eith plenty of liquor and they make some really good drinks. We had a coconut mojito and it was delicious. Now let's get to the star of the show....the food! It's as authentic as it gets and really really good. I had the churrasco steak with chchimichuri sauce. It was cooked perfectly . Their tostones were perfection and their red bean stew was awesome. I know some reviews talk about slow service. Well theybare on Island time. A slower pace is the true island experience. The people working here are real puerto ricans. If you want authentic Puerto rican meal this is the spot to go to. I'll definetly be back to try other dishes.

Great spot for Puerto Rican food in Largo. We have been here a few times and there's really not much Puerto Rican food in the area that we know of so this is a great place for it. They can get pretty busy here so we were happy to have gotten a table. The last time we were here we ordered the stuffed chicken with stuffed with sweet plantain and cheese sauce. We also ordered a dufongo(mofongo) with a conch salad. They were great and quite tasty. Would definitely come back again. They have tables inside and in their interior area that is outside but inside if that makes sense. They are quite nice and helpful!!

A friend & I were in Largo yesterday and we came across this restaurant. I was so excited because there aren't that many Puerto Rican restaurants. There are loads of Latin ones, but not specific to Puerto Rico. I had to order my favorite: Pastel. They call theirs Pastel de Cerdo & it was savory & full of flavor. Of course I could not pass up Empanada Carne. The dough was light, not over done or oily and the meat was stuffed to the brim and flavorful. I ordered to go: Pernil with Arroz con Gandules. I was very pleased to see that the pork was not salty, which can be the case in some restaurants. That was not the case here. The rice was wonderfully flavorful. My friend, on the other hand was not as pleased by her food. Personally, I think it's because it's not a cuisine she normally eats. She ordered the Relleno de Papa & a Pizza Empanada. She found the stuffed potato to be a little bland, so I made the recommendation that she use a little bit of the hot sauce & she enjoyed it much more with that addition. Personally, I wouldn't have ordered a pizza empanada, but that is what she wanted to try. She did not enjoy it at all. There was very little sauce in it and mostly cheese. She ordered the same "to go" dish that I did for her husband & he enjoyed the food very much. Of course, we both had to have the Café con Leche. I actually drank mine without any sweetener, and I really enjoyed the flavor of the coffee! Too stuffed from the appetizers to try any dessert. One thing to note: I felt that the prices were unreasonable as far as their main dishes are concerned. The appetizers were priced "on point"; but the main dishes were over priced in my opinion. I just have a weakness for Puerto Rican food, so I was willing to overlook that. If I'm in Largo again, I would have no problem, trying different appetizers or a sandwich. Even my friend said she would as well.

We ordered the pernil which came with rice.. first of all, the meat was terrible no flavor and the rice tasted like microwaved rice... just hard rice. The chimuchirri sauce to eat with the yuca was terrible.. it just taste just oil with no flavor. And I was expecting better.. it was my first time eating Puerto Rican food and honestly it's way overpriced for the terrible plate that we ordered.

I wanted this to be my spot. It broke my heart instead…read more Let me start with the moment that told me everything. I handed a piece of the chicken to my Latino friend and said nothing, not what it was, not where it came from, no complaining to color his read. He chewed once, made a face, and said it was one of the worst things he's ever put in his mouth. I've also got Puerto Rican cousins, so I know what this food is supposed to taste like. Two of us, no coordination, same verdict: this wasn't it. Here's how I got there. This truck sits five minutes from my house, right on my drive to school and back. I'd been eyeing it for weeks, watching the ratings climb, telling myself I'd finally stop in. Today I did, genuinely rooting for it. They were down to their last two portions, one fried chicken, one fried pork, so I grabbed both with a side of arroz con habichuelas, took it home, and got ready to fall in love. I didn't make it past the second bite. The chicken pulled off something I didn't think was physically possible: watery and dry at the very same time. Slick and wet on the outside, stringy and parched the second you bit in, the whole thing tough and rubbery. And flavorless, not "needs a little salt" flavorless, but nothing at all. There was a thin sauce spooned over the top, but it just sat on the surface, so the first bite carried a hint of something and every bite after carried absolutely nothing. The fried pork didn't save the plate either, salty to the point of wincing and dry as a board. Even the rice and beans, the easiest layup on any Puerto Rican plate, landed flat. If you're still set on going, here's my honest advice: go early, right after they open, and order something you can watch them cook fresh. What I got tasted like it had been sitting a long time before it reached me, and timing might be the whole difference. But I can only review the plate I was handed, and the plate I was handed was, plainly, awful. I wanted to be a regular here so badly. I left unable to recommend it to a single person.
