Fortunately I've gotten in and out of previous homes before having to tackle this but now, the time has come. After talking to several companies and reviewing proposals, I chose Smart Roofing Systems. Smart has done many homes in my neighborhood and everyone had good things to say about them. My experience was no exception. One difference I noticed about Smart vs. other companies is that instead of having a huge dumpster placed in your driveway, they used an open trailer on wheels allowing for easy removal of the debris each day. I also liked the fact that this left no marks on the asphalt driveway like some heavy dumpster can do. The crews put in extremely long days and did an amazing clean up. When you tear down a roof, shingles, nails, etc. go everywhere. The job site remained neat and the daily and final clean up was superb. Smart was extremely easy to do business with. Great, responsive communications and follow up. I tend to ask a lot of questions especially given the costs involved. Never was I left hanging. I highly recommend Smart Roofing Systems.

Well fellow homeowners, our roof has been replaced in less than 8 hours?What is most amazing is that it was 100 degrees today in SW Michigan? What literally perfect hard workers and team removing our old roof and a professional and beautiful replacement in this 100 degree combined hot and humid day at our home in Vicksburg Michigan! I spoke in the Yelp chat with questions to the owner Richard Paige in Rockford, MI., who certainly knew all the questions he answered without hesitation and it revealed his knowledge of all the aspects we needed to know! We could not have been more impressed, and we made the decision to have our roof replaced in the very next week he was able to fit us into! A week ago our new premium was due and having our initial roof replaced today, we were able to obtain a credit of $617! Ask your agent about this because it was apparent our roof was old enough that it was raising the cost of our annual premium! We never knew that, but we must also honestly inform all homeowners that insurance companies are very concerned about possible claims because of aging roofs, which seemed fairly obvious, but it "woke us up" when faced with a 50% increase in the past 2 years? Thankfully our agent was definitely helpful and on our side in advising us we could save so much by spending a very reasonable amount with Smart Roofing out of Rockford who replied to me on the YELP APP almost immediately and the rest was history! We are now one week later very thankful this was communicated so well by the owner Richard Paige! Also the owner, Al, came out to personally look at it while his crew was working and made sure he came and talked to me so that he knew for sure I was happy with the work. What impressed me the most is he saw something that his crew did on the roof that wasn't good quality so he made them redo it the right way. He could have left it that way and I wouldn't have known. But he made sure it was done right. It seems to me that this company really cares about quality! I would definitely recommend these guys. The only negative I can say as of now is we have found a lot of roofing nails, especially in our garage area. But it still doesn't take away from the 5 star service.

We hired Twa Construction to build our 1,344 sq. ft. house on our property. They were to do…read moreeverything from plans to completion. It didn't go well. We gave Twa $10,000.00 up front. The project got as far as a hole in the ground and some footings. Unfortunately, Twa had started building THE WRONG HOUSE, so the footings were wrong. It was possible to use a portion of the footings by splicing in repairs. I checked with the inspector to see how splices should be done and emailed the instructions to Twa. Unfortunately they did the splices wrong, and didn't have the city inspect them before they poured the cement like they were supposed to. I met with the building inspector and Twa at the site, listened to Twa scream for a while, and fired him. He's hard to get rid of though, because he won't admit his mistakes. He hasn't refunded any of our money, and has presented us with an inflated final bill that was just enough over the $10k we had paid for him to be able to put a lein on our property. When we started the project with a new builder, I thought it would be a good idea to double check the location of the foundation footings on the property. Turned out Twa had not only started building the wrong house, he put it in the WRONG PLACE. He forgot to include the roof overhangs in his calculations, so the house is 9" over where it should be on its South and East sides. What a mess. Now we can't use any of the footings. They'll have to busted up and hauled away. The soil will have to be compacted, and new footings poured IN THE CORRECT LOCATION. I might as well have burned my $10,000.00 instead of giving it to Twa. I certainly can't recommend this builder to anyone. One thing I learned is that no matter what a builder wants up front, don't give them any more than they need for a week's worth of work.
