So, I had the expensive ($7000) pin hole surgery for my receding gums. Dr did my upper mouth and it was extremely uncomfortable, yucky ( as not teeth brushing allowed) but I was encouraged with the results. As my first follow up, the results were awesome!! He managed to stretch and pull my gums down to improve some of the recession. By the end of my treatment, even he said that I had more recession than he expected. As of today, the only teeth that have maintained w/o recession are my eye teeth. Again, for $7000, I expected a bit more permanent results as in years and not temporary as in months. The office is located in a small medical plaza with street parking and two private parking lots. The parking lot directly in front of the office is usually full; however, just a few steps away is another parking lot with shade and plenty of room. They recently renovated the office and it looks amazing and very up to date with the latest technology and beautiful interior. The rooms and spacious with enough room for a parent to sit in with their child. The office is welcoming the moment you open the door with holiday decorations and friendly smiles behind the front desk. Robin, the Scheduling Coordinator, is always there to greet me upon walking in and really creates a great atmosphere from the very start of the appointment. All of the hygienists and assistants are all so friendly, warm, and knowledgeable. They make sure that you are comfortable throughout the appointment and even offer blankets in the winter to keep warm! Dr. Yemoto is such an amazing dentist. He really shows that he cares for each of his patients by remembering even the most minute details from years ago such as remembering the instruments that my sisters and I play or where we go to school. I was late for my appointment for 10 minutes and I am willing to reduce the time reserved for my visit for 10 minutes. But The front door girl just talked to me with this disrespectful tone. Telling me she is going to reschedule me for another visit. The doctor haven't finish working on the patient in front of me when I walked in. Even if I was on time I still will be just sitting there. Imagine, a 5 year old asian girl running through a dental office screaming bloody murder as her dentist is holding that huge Novacaine shot in his hand (does anyone even pay attention to the length of that darn needle??). Her older brother and mother begin chasing her around the office trying to catch her, eventually pinning her down to the dental chair and forcing her mouth open to allow for the dentist to give her a shot to yank out her two front teeth because her mutant like baby teeth apparently had large roots and did not "fall out" on their own and instead began to rott. Yes, it was me, and it was truly traumatizing... (tear drop). I am not joking about the visual either. It really happened that way! So, here I am, 25 years later and I have become better at taking care of my teeth to avoid shots, and very picky about the kind of dentist I go to. Truly, some dentists are more gentle and less abrupt when giving shots and doing dental work. A good dentist can make you barely notice that they are giving you a shot. That is the kind of dentist that Dr. Yemoto is. His staff and office are friendly and inviting and they give you a flower at the end of your appt! Lastly, Dr. Yemoto is a humanitarian (a few days out of the year, they provide FREE dental work to children that do not have the means to afford quality dental care), and he takes his staff on a nice vacation trip every year. The entire staff at Dr. Yemoto's office are ANGELS. I was nervous about booking an appointment as I had bad dental experiences in the past, but I am so glad I decided to put my excuses aside and schedule an appointment. The receptionist, dentist, dentist assistant, and hygienist all made me feel very welcome and comfortable. They wrapped a blanket around me because I was cold and ensured I got a little extra TLC. They made the x-ray process as pleasant as possible, gently placing the film strips into my mouth and quickly taking it out to prevent further discomfort. My past dentists seem rushed and unsympathetic towards the fact that the film strips HURT! Dr. Yemoto was very informative and gave me great feedback. His knowledge and patience is greatly appreciated. The hygienist was a sweet lady who asked if I was doing alright the entire time. I told her my sob dental stories and she was very kind and understanding. Before cleaning my teeth, she placed this topical cream on gums to numb them. This made the cleaning a lot more bearable. Why don't all hygienists do this? She was very thorough while cleaning and took the full hour scraping and scrubbing away. I appreciate the staff's attention to detail and customer service values. I'm looking forward to my next visit as I was told they also offer free aroma therapy sessions! Apparently my teeth needed the full hour of cleaning or else I would have had time to relax in their aroma therapy room. They offer you flowers and a bag of goodies before you leave. The end result: A set of teeth that are noticeably whiter and cleaner! I don't understand why I can't clean my teeth every month, instead of every 6 months. Who made up this rule?! My mother and brother have gone to Dr. Yemoto for over 17 years. I never made the switch until my college years. I have to say, I hate the Dentist, always have, always will. (no offense, but my first Dentist Dr. Fisher scarred me for life) My father took me to another baby dentist and I loved him - Dr. Wong. When I found out Dr. Wong was retiring, I knew I had to go to an adult dentist. I mean, I could reach the doorknob to let myself in and out of the office at Dr. Wong's and how fun is it to sit and watch cartoons with little kids. He didn't care, he took me anyways :) That was when I switched to go to Dr. Yemoto. He was great from the beginning. Explaining everything as we went along and he was gentle. I started seeing the hygienist, Joan, who I absolutely love!!! We always have great conversations about work, kids, vacations, etc. Although it's hard to answer when she's in my mouth. :) She's very gentle and very good. I can't imagine seeing another hygienist - that's why I always wait until she's available to see her. What's great about this office is that they have the latest technology. Joan writes down my gum pockets on the computer screen and schedules my appointments after she's done and prints out a card for me. They remodeled their office a few years back and it looks great. Robin is the front receptionist who always welcomes you when you arrive. She calls to confirm your appointments and is always friendly. The other lady at the front desk handles the insurance and she's very nice. She always reminds me to take a flower. Dr. Yemoto keeps his staff happy since I've seen the same people for years!! I do travel 45 minutes to the Dentist but it's all worth it! I just never schedule my appointments at 7:30 am anymore since I'll hit traffic going home. I love this man! Dr. Yemoto is a sweet, kind person who genuinely has his patients needs and best interests at heart. I started going to him a few years ago and couldn't be happier. He goes the extra mile on things you would never think of (ie... he moistens the gauze before putting in your mouth, and applies some lip balm after your exam when your lips get dry). These little "extras" make a HUGE difference. His office is nice, too! The staff is amazing. All of them are so nice and helpful. It really makes for the most positive of dental experiences. Dr Yemoto rocks! I really appreciate his conservative treatment approach - he's never recommended any procedures that weren't clearly necessary, often taking a "let's wait and see" approach. I go in every 6 months for a cleaning, and his hygenists are gentle, encouraging and very pleasant. His office staff is very efficient and friendly - the whole operation is just a really well-run business. I've been a patient there for ~10 years, and was referred by a friend. My old dentist had been pressuring me to take antibiotics before my appts, since I have an "innocent" heart murmur. (Note: the AHA no longer recommends antibiotic prophylaxis for innocent murmurs, and it was being seriously questioned then.) I set up an initial appt with Dr Yemoto to discuss this, and he said that it was _my_ decision. He genuinely cares and is truthful! He not trying to put unnecessary work like crowns into a patient's mouth. (I was told by another dentist that I needed three crowns and two fillings). Doesn't even deserve a star. I was referred to this dentist by a co-worker who said that he was in our Apple network. Yemoto said I had full blown periodontal disease and needed 3 deep cleaning sessions that I would have to pay out of pocket $800 for. Needless to say my copay was no longer an issue so I went to a close family friend for a second assessment. He informed me that I only had one level 5 pocket that had no bone loss and that periodontal disease is the #1 thing dentists misdiagnose as an insurance scam. He cleaned the tooth and I am now 100℅ cured with one visit. But to make matters worse, I just got a letter in the mail that said the original out of pocket quote was an estimate and when they billed insurance for my first visit, my quote has now doubled.
