I recently started working full-time and wanted to find a barber shop that could give me a great cut that looks professional but also stylish. I tried out several barber shops in Midtown, Downtown and Buckhead, but nothing comes close to West Barber Shop. I made an appointment with Kevin on his website for a haircut, beard trim, and straight razor hot shave. For the haircut, not only does Kevin have incredible attention to detail when cutting your hair, but he also does a straight razor shave on the back of your neck, blow drys your hair after the cut to make sure you don't leave the barbershop shedding hair, and styles your hair with product. Kevin cut my hair so that I looked great when I stepped out of the barbershop, but I also looked great after my hair grew a little bit after a couple of weeks. For the beard trim and hot shave, Kevin made sure to blend my beard up to the side burns and he lined up the check and neck lines perfectly. The straight razor hot shave was incredible. He warms your face with a hot towel, and you get a super close, clean shave with a straight razor. You can tell that Kevin and the rest of his team treats their customers well because as I was sitting waiting for my haircut, clients would walk in and chat with Kevin or another stylist as if they've been friends for years. West Barber Shop feels like an Atlanta landmark with a signed picture of Coach Paul Johnson at Kevin's styling station and an Atlanta United championship banner in the waiting area next to the nice leather couches. I will definitely be coming back to West Barber Shop. read more

Hi, just wanted to share the Good News from when I visited this location for a simple line up. First off, I thank the Lord God Jesus Christ for the folks working at this location. They were not money hungry and trying to play inflation games by charging me $90 for a lineup like others down the street (who I will not mention, God bless them). Barber "Anna" provided excellent service as she was kind, honest an has the Love of God in her. The service and vibe was a blessing when I visited. Was in town for my wife's company Christmas party and needed a cut. I looked for a barbershop because I wanted a shave and beard trim as well.easily booked an appointment online which is always a plus as I really don't like talking to people. Showed up and the owner, Kevin was my guy. The place is very well decorated and not froo froo. I loved the old barber chairs that still had ash trays in the arm rest. Kevin did a great job cutting my hair and trimmed my goatee better than I ever have. Next was a straight razor shave which is getting harder to find these days. Wanted to like this place but they could care less about you or your time. I've made at least three online appointments only to show up and have to wait 10 to 15 minutes for the stylist to show up. At my last appointment (also made online) the stylist failed to show up at all. I was told that another stylist would cut my hair but I would've to wait until the other two people in the shop had been served. What is the point of taking appointments if you don't intend to keep them? This was the last straw, and I won't be back. read more

Kevin was my guy before the pandemic and still is. I was very satisfied with the safety protocols that have been put in place while we wait for this coronavirus to blow over. They took my temperature, sanitized my hands, disinfected all equipment, and most importantly made sure that everyone had a mask on. Payment was contactless. Best haircut I've ever had, made an appointment online for David West, nice facility, got exactly the haircut I wanted and needed. He fixed the errors from my last barber shop. A lot of attention to detail. Used different techniques including cutting the extra hair fuzz on top with a razor and sing texturizing scissors. Best haircut and barbershop experience I have had in a long time. Not a super "hip" or "trendy" set up in the shop although it's nice and comfortable. The quality of the barbers and the cuts is top notch. This is a great barbershop. I go here most times I need a haircut. The staff are nice and there aren't allowing anyone to sit until their barber is ready. That said the last couple times I've been here, I've had to listen to the other clients getting their cut spout nonsense conspiracy theories about coronavirus or other BS loud enough everyone in the room has to hear them, and/or these clients don't observe social distancing from other people. I don't really like having to sit through this. I hope if you go to this barber please keep your mouth shut and or be a pleasant person. read more

This is an old fashion barber shop. A hair cut is $17 (as of Feb '09) and they do a good job (at least this review is based off of one experience). Former long time customer... usually make appointments a week in advance. Last month, the stylist never showed up or called to say they weren't going to be in that day so couldn't get a scheduled haircut. Today, I had an appointment scheduled at business open and the same stylist never showed up to open the store. 20 minutes of waiting and knocking on the door and no answer. So I left. Get a call 5 minutes after I leave from the stylist saying she was "there the whole time waiting" which wasn't true. The lights were off and the door was locked. Really disappointed there is no accountability from the owner for his stylist's lack of responsibility, integrity, and professionalism. read more

It had been years since I last used this shop. Stopped by last Saturday and took whoever was available. It was my lucky day! Maria did an excellent job cutting my unruly hair. She knew right away that, in order to do the job right, she would need to use scissors instead of electric shears. I have paid a lot more for a LOT worse results. Nothing shady about the place. This is a classic 50-60's style shop. It's been there since I came to ATL in 1974. While I was there two people stopped by to say hi and talk w/o getting haircuts. Having been on the road a good bit over the past year, I've gotten my haircut in all sorts of places. However, I recently changed jobs and have enjoyed being at home much more. Although, what I didn't have was a barber shop I could rely on.....but that has all changed ever since I was told about West Barber shop by a coworker of mine. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first walked in, but after having visited, I can't think of anywhere else I'd rather go! The entire staff was friendly and welcoming, and they clearly have a strong following as the place was full on a Saturday morning, but despite the crowd, there wasn't much of a wait at all. It just so happens that when it was my turn, the owner (Kevin) asked me to come over to his chair. I told him how I "normally" get my haircut, but after a quick evaluation if you will, he suggested that I let him try something a bit different.....the result? Hands down the BEST haircut I can remember! Oh, the hot towels, razor neck shave, and back massage were all fantastic, and included in the $18 price. I only mention that because I've been to places like Sport Clips that charge extra for those services, but not here. Overall, West Barber shop is a great spot to check out, and miles ahead of all the "chains". They provide old-school service and awesome haircuts, and I would be hard pressed to go anywhere else from now on. read more

Dropped in after the COVID crisis to get a trim. Ended up with hair worse than I started with. Not impressed. My regular barber didn't even try to take me for the cut so I ended up with someone who I'd never had before. Explained what I wanted and sat down. He spun me around so I couldn't see my cut and do any corrections as he worked as he was unfamiliar with my head. After being handed mirror, notes feathering still on the sides, so he worked on that. After 20 minutes in the chair, next viewing was approved...just ready to go. So why not impressed? Uneven cut, didn't pay attention to the area and manner I asked it to be cut as, ZERO conversation...from anyone in the shop and $30 freakin' dollars for a trim?!? Get real. It's a dark, depressing, zero fun place to go. No conversation at all and frankly, an unprofessional and pretentious shop. It doesn't take much to make a customer feel welcome, but this place doesn't even try. Pretentious is a pretty accurate word. You're a barbershop...not some depressing techno-euro hangout. Act like it. No, it doesn't have to be "Cheers" environment but if you're going to charge top dollar then treat your customers better and friendlier. It's not that hard. read more

Cannot say enough great things about this barber shop. Kevin (owner) is as professional as they come. I recently moved to Atlanta and made an appointment with West Barber Shop. About an hour prior to my appointment Kevin called me to inform me he was in traffic and would be 15 minutes late to our appointment. (Traffic is HORRIBLE in Atlanta) That is a common courtesy that, sadly, is lost today. Once Kevin arrived (15 minutes late as he informed me) he was very apologetic and made me feel like a priority. On to the haircut, Kevin is a Pro's pro! I showed him a picture of what I wanted and we talked about it, i listened to his expertise and about 30 minutes later I came out of the chair with a perfect haircut. Really made me feel good! Krissy might of had the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Felt like she didn't want to cut my hair as soon as I got there. Once she started cutting she acted like she was done after cutting two or three hairs. After letting her know I wanted to take more hair off she rushed the entire hair cut. She also left hair all over my face and practically escorted me out of the door just to go sit back in her car, which is where I had to find her to get my haircut in the first place.
