We recently bought a house built in 1929 and one of the big things that came up with the inspection…read morewas the lack of attic insulation and ventilation. We had no soffit vents and the insulation was minimal leading to the attic being very hot and humid (in the summer) and cold in the winter. We decided we wanted to rectify this and so I did my due diligence and got three separate quotes. Green Stone Energy's was the highest of the three. However, this was mostly due to the fact that they would do everything to modernize the attic, including insulating, air sealing, adding soffit vents, and an attic fan. Other companies tried to tell me the attic didn't need to be ventilated but I knew that wasn't true. The experience from start to finish was great. Erick was with us through the whole process. I was most impressed by his professionalism during the quote and throughout the attic modernization. All of the workers involved in installing the insulation/ventilation were very polite and walked me through exactly what they were doing. I have temperature sensors throughout the house and so I can already see what a huge difference it's made in keeping the house at a more comfortable temperature. We had a great experience with Green Stone and would highly recommend them!

Dutch recommended several steps we could take to resolve the problem, and suggested we hire a carpenter or contractor for the work (since it was not in Green Stone's area of expertise). There was no charge for the visit. The recommendations were very useful to us. So good to work with people that honestly want to help!

The communication texts and emails reminding me of the appointment were appropriately timed and weren't overwhelming. The tech who arrived was friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and came up with a great solution for my request to move my thermostat. Extremely reasonably priced work and yearly maintenance program. Wish I had called this company sooner!

After the gas line was turned on, a gas leak occurred, requiring PECO to replace parts on the gas meter. Based on the PECO technicians' experience, they indicated that opening a gas valve too quickly can sometimes contribute to a gas leak. On the other hand, DiBiase explained that, in their view, the issue was not related to how the gas was turned back on but rather to the age of the PECO meter, which they believe would have failed regardless. To the company's credit, they discussed the situation with me and provided an additional year of free maintenance. While I appreciate their response and the added maintenance, I'm not convinced the installation wasn't a contributing factor. I hope they review their installation procedures to help prevent this type of issue from happening to future customers.

Ben with McLaughlin insulations is an Artist! When it comes to spray foam and cellulose insulation…read morethere is no one better. My home is an end of row, row home. It was built between 1895 and 1904, the basement is half stone, half concrete. I had Mcglaughlin insulation spray foam the stone wall in my basement that faces the street. My home has never been the same, controlling the temperature in my has improved 100 fold. The moisture in my basement is easier to control as well which in an older home is a blessing. Thank you Ben for your exemplary work.

From the owner: McGlaughlin Insulation specializes in polyurethane spray foam and cellulose insulation…read more Polyurethane spray foam is a spray-applied cellular plastic, which, when properly installed, can fill hard to reach areas with seamless coverage, providing protection from water and rodent damage. As a higher R-value insulation, spray foam gives more insulation with less thickness then other types of insulation and comes in two types: closed-cell and open-cell. Closed-cell polyurethane spray foam, with its compact cell structure, is effective as an air and water-vapor barrier and is used often in roofing projects and other outdoor applications. Closed-cell spray foam can also act as a mold and moisture deterrent. Open-cell spray foam, with its lighter, more open-cell architecture, is great for sound insulation between interior walls. Cellulose insulation, the latest in home insulation solutions, is a loose-fill insulation made out of renewable, plant-based products and is environmentally friendly, having the highest recycled content of any current insulation material. Recent studies have also shown that cellulose may be a better fire-deterrent than fiberglass. Like spray foam, cellulose can be installed in hard to reach areas, fitting over pipes and wiring. While providing a lower R-value than spray foam, cellulose is traditionally a lower cost option that also provides effective insulation.
