The City of San Diego contracted with WCA to trim the trees in the Scripps Ranch open space near our residence. The crew-- consisting of Santos (Foreman), Jorge, and Jose-- is deserving of high praise. This team arrived on time and worked consistently. They were courteous, respectful, and utilized safety measures for themselves, others, and the surrounding areas. Cleanup was efficient and the trees were shaped beautifully; needless to say, we were exceedingly pleased with the outcome of their work. I'd also like to give kudos to Santos for noticing a hawk's nest at the top of one of the trees. He stopped the work on that tree, to be rescheduled later when wildlife will not be disturbed. Upon closer inspection, we even discovered a baby hawk (eyaseyas) in the nest. We would welcome and work with this crew again. Thank you Santos, Jorge, and Jose! read more

The city of Imperial Beach has some very tall palm trees trimmed, across the street from my yard/house. I have artificial turf, putting green, etc.. in my yard. The wind was blowing towards my house, so naturally much of the debris from the sawing, etc.. blew onto my yard. Rodrigo (the foreman) was wonderful and had one of the WCA team members (Alex), work on getting my yard cleaned up. He spent about 30 minutes blowing, raking, etc.. really went above & beyond. West Coast Arborists came out to trim a Eucalyptus tree that was growing over the neighbor's roof and getting tangled in the electrical wires. Carlos and his team did an excellent job, were patient with the detailed work of untangling the branches from the wires and left the tree looking better and healthier! Thanks Carlos! read more

Giovanni and Mario did a great job removing a tree that was mortally wounded by hurricane Hilary. Although hired by the city, not me, they were friendly and professional both times I interacted with them. They put up "no parking" signs where they needed to work the next day. Being a carbon hoarder, I asked them if they could leave some wood chips behind and they did, sweeping the sidewalk and making everything look tidy. Thanks, guys! read more

City of Oceanside contracted this company to trim/clean the trees in our neighborhood. The team came by the day before and posted signs on the trees to trim and left a placard inidicating the service to be performed the next day. The showed in the AM and got it done quickly, professionally and a smile on their face. This morning this company parked a full sized roll-off dumpster completely blocking our driveway for over an hour while they were doing tree service. When my wife needed to get out of our driveway for work she asked one of the crew who laughed snarkily her with an unapologetic condescending tone. It took calling the police, parking enforcement and WCA to have the truck moved. No apologies for the inconvenience. Don't hire these unprofessional clowns. read more

The City of Oceanside sent them out to Butcher my tree and now the tree is ugly and no longer provides privacy. read more

The city hired these clowns to trim the trees on our street, and they did such a poor job. They left our trees looking pathetic and a huge mess behind for us to clean up. Do not, do not, hire these guys. Today I watched them try for an hour to figure out how to work the crane so they could trim palm trees. The supervisor sent a guy up with a teeny hand saw after he didn't know how to start the power saw. They've destroyed a cactus garden and torn palm leaves off that weren't ready to be taken off. We had a 40 foot tall palm tree cracking & dangerously tilting & while swaying in the wind on our curbside parkway. The city brought in Alejandro Valenzuela the foreman for West Coast Arborists, Inc in La Mesa to complete his assessment. After making his assessment and upon approval he brought his crew out & they removed the palm tree quickly & safely. After the removal their clean up job was meticulous. In our dealings with Alejandro he was courteous, professional, and understanding of our concerns for our neighbor's safety. Unprofessional and inconsiderate. We are not customers but neighbors around where they were working. They repeatedly parked in our driveway and private parking. We told them they needed to move 6 times and ended up having to chain out private parking to keep their trucks and chippers from taking up the whole thing. WCA then decided to jump the curb and still park in our private parking. When this was discussed again, they laughed us off. read more

WCA was out this morning to ant a new tree in our easement on behalf of the City of El Cajon and Eduardo Garcia and his crew did a great job! They had the right tools and equipment to dig thru the hard granite we live on and were done in a short period of time. WCA and their on site foreman Eloy Marquez, did an outstanding job of pruning the dozens of pine trees planted in our common area in Lemon Grove, CA. Since moving to this new home in 1997 (yr. built), the city of Lemon Grove has had the obligation of taking care of the so called common area....I give them just a barely passing grade of taking care of their contractural obligation (I am being generous) where the monies come out of our property taxes. In the twenty years I've been a home owner, they had only brought in one tree service company to trim and maintain these awful trees....dumb and dumber approved of the master plan and dumb and dumber planted them along our main street of Gold Lake Rd. That first company...oh, maybe 2 years past did an OK job, but not what was really needed. Frankly, they should be taken out and replaced w/ something, less messy, more practical, and a lot prettier. Lemon Grove City government? Are you listening? West Coast Arborists did a complete job, finally. The fellow, who is their foreman, Eloy Marquez listened to any home owner that felt something should be looked at within his job parameters and contractural obligations, listened politely and responded if the request was necessary, was a safety issue, and enhanced our neighborhood. Outstanding! Why are these trees the wrong tree for a small neighborhood like ours? A thin narrow strip called a common zone along a relatively short street...3 short blks. long w/ 3 cul de sac's radiating off the main street. Relatively fast growing, and very dirty....lots of pine cones the school kids like to pick up and throw, plus the cars rushing down the street crush the cones into lots of pieces that littler the streets and clog the drains when it rains. Finally, the millions of pine needles that blow into our streets and our yards. BTW, ever see much greenery growing under, or in and around all the pine needles these trees produce....yea, not much grows, so the city in their great wisdom planted along w/ all those pine trees? An herb...not necessarily a bad idea....Rosemary. Pretty when blooming, drought tolerant, can be trimmed into a fairly nice bush. But since the Rosemary it is covered in pine needles, and the commercial gardening service that comes occasionally to "tend" that common area, barely does what needs to be done...that outfit gets a failing grade, and Lemon Grove gets a failing grade as well. So who ends of cleaning that up? The city sends out a street sweeper occasionally, we appreciate that very much....once a week would work better. Or, sweep up all those needles yourself...have you ever had to sweep up pine needles? Pain in the you know what! Pine trees belong in large wooded areas, forests, parks, and the eastern mountain areas of San Diego county, not as a novelty tree on narrow streets in residential areas in sunny CA. Thank you, WCA of San Diego. Thank you City of Lemon Grove for finally hiring a quality contractor to help mitigate a continual problem w/ those awful pine trees. read more

I have to say, after reading the 3 previous reviews I'm not inclined to spend to much time on this. West Coast Arborists were hired by the city of Vista to prune trees lining some of the city streets. This means that any tree approaching the street from a persons yard can be cut back. More like butchered. I have spent the last 5 years carefully pruning out 63 year old Magnolia tree to get it to the point that it has a beautiful, even umbrella shaped crown. Unfortunately West Coast made certain that it will never have one again. The cuts were incredibly poor ( face cuts, flush cuts and stub cuts). Any arborist who knew what they were doing would NEVER have left our tree looking like they did. Every day I pull up to my home the site of our once regal tree makes me mad... and can never be fixed. Hire at your own risk! By the way, our tree was not over hanging the street in the first place. read more

These people came out and cut my tree this morning, apparently by request of the street cleaner. Seriously? The street cleaner? They BUTCHERED my tree. Claimed that they were going to "prune" it, but cut off HUGE branches. It looks so sad and just AWFUL. The foreman came out after I called and voiced my concerns; he was rude, condescending, and pointless to deal with. Horrible company that will destroy your trees.
