This duty free shop is located at the South bound Pacific /truck crossing. It can be used to shortened your border crossing wait times during long weekends if you know how to "use the system". Even though you still have to wait before being let back into the queue, you still save yourself time. Once you enter the Duty free shop, there's no turning back unless you want to puncture your tires on the one way metal spikes. People waiting in the queue can use the washroom and walk back to their cars with no hassle. The shop has a good variety of hard liquor and local BC wines. They also have a decent amount of perfumes/colognes and health and beauty products. There is also a huge collection of souvenirs and chocolates. If you want to be a cheapskate, you can just buy a bottle of water or bag of ketchup potato chips. Just give them your license plate number and it'll print on your receipt which you will need to show the parking attendant to prove that you bought something. On a busy weekend, you can easily save yourself a good half to one hour by buying something at the Duty free if you know how to use all the tricks of this short cut.

So this is your last shopping opportunity in Canada before you leave the country and cross the border by car. Being that I love to shop the US dollar is strong and it's the holidays that's a trifecta for stopping. Once inside in the wine and spirits area you actually get a sommelier to advise. He was a great assistance as we were particularly interested in the regional wines of Vancouver. I got two bottles of Sauvignon Blanc so I can recreate my wonderful happy hours of Canada back home. I asked about the regional Gin Long Board however he felt you should leave the Gin making to the Brits and I agree. Than we shopped the costume jewelry and I picked up a nice fashion bracelet. Onward Canadian souvenirs nothing caught my eye. Fragrances and Cosmetics very sparse selection and nothing that I wanted from what was there. At check out got some overpriced Mentos must be an import. If you stop here sole reason is the sommelier and he was personable as well.

Love the chocolate deals! Usually buy 1, get 1 free. In Canadian bucks too. And the extra $ is well spent to jump 15 min of the lineup, don't be cheap! Lol

    It's open 24/7. Taken at 3AM.

No tax shopping [Surrey, BC Canada]…read more On our way back to Washington we hung a Roger and did some shopping at the Duty Free shop in Surrey. This was a fairly big store compared to the one in Toronto. This store had plenty of souvenirs but they were pricy even with the Canadian dollar. Sections of fragrance and cosmetic products, watches, purses... then the huge area of alcohol, wine and spirits! We bought Icewine for gifting. We came across the chocolate, sweets, biscuits, chewing gum, gummy bears, maple syrup, tea, Canadian tea. We started our Christmas shopping LoL! The U.S. Customs Border Patrol did ask us if we did some shopping and what kinds of things we purchased which was mostly wine and chocolates. Travelers are allowed to bring up to $800 worth of merchandise back to the U.S. without having to pay taxes Exchange Rate 11/29/24: $1 USD = $1.40 CAD Review #3610

The store wasn't busy. I looked around freely and I haven't noticed any employee glued to me. I didn't care about the other products because I find it overly priced. I reached the area where the souvenir items are. I took my time in deciding what to buy. I paid what I wanted and I find the prices not bad.

Date of visit: July 22, 2025…read more Our friends are always gracious with hosting our four-legged terrorist when we travel and as such we always try to repay the favor by bringing them back something, and that something they prefer is Hendricks gin. Unfortunately the Vancouver Duty Free shops don't sell Hendricks, I suspect because they give preference to the Canadian brands. Supporting that suspicion was that the only gins available were Canadian brands. Staff recommended the Empress brand, well-represented with multiple varieties on offer, but that is also easily found back home and half of the fun is getting something you can't get down the street at the local Total Wine. Given that, we settled on the Sheringham Distillery, which did not seem to have nearly as wide a distribution as Empress. Our friends were very excited to receive the bottle and I hope they enjoy it! Staff here were a mix; one woman could have cared less about anyone in her store, the other was incredibly friendly and helpful, so if you don't get a good response from the first person you see, try again!

Got the Inniskillin Riesling ice wine from Niagra Estate for $109. Also, got the Macallan 18 Yr for $544. My friend had purchased 2 bottles before me and was able to get a 15% coupon and gave it to me to use! I was so happy to shave off $99 from the total. Yay!
