Ohh Bill of U-Haul Storage of foster, did you do me wrong?…read more U-Haul's are franchises and if something goes wrong, it's up to the individual location to make it right. With so many convenient locations, maybe pick one that Bill doesn't oversee the safety aspects of. I rented a 4 wheel box trailer from Bill at U-Haul Storage of Foster. Bill was amiable, the grandfather you always wished you had sort of look about him. Bill hooked up my trailer and I felt I was in solid grandfather-esq hands. Fast forward a few hours and I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere on the narrow shoulder of a busy freeway in the middle of the night as semi-trucks blast past. U-Haul informed me it would be an hour for help to arrive, so I waited, feeling my organs rearrange from the pressure change every time a semi blasted past. 1 hour eventually turned into 4 as I was told every 20 minutes to wait just another 20 minutes hoping some sleep deprived trucker didn't power nap his 80,000lbs into my rear. All this was hardly Bills' fault though... or so I thought. Eventually, a very nice roadside hero arrived, risking certain death to change my tire. The hero shook his head as he informed me that the tires were all dramatically low, and the pressure was mismatched between them, which in trailer speak means almost certain peril. The trailer should never have left the trailer pen in such condition. Did Bill do me wrong? Not to leave you hanging, Bill did reach out a few days later. He sounded pleasant, as though nothing had happened, which caught me a bit off guard, so I explained the events of the prior evening, and what the hero had told me. I waited patiently for this to sink in and understanding to materialize in his vice. He informed me in a flat tone, that there would be "no refunds". Well, now I didn't ask for a refund Bill, I just told him that given the information I was told by the hero that I wasn't exactly a happy customer. I run a business myself, I know what Bill has to go through. In this situation, either Bill did me wrong, or the tow truck driver lied to my face, but I watched him fill up all my tires. What's most upsetting is I got the very distinct feeling Bill never had my back, he never even tried to make a gesture of good will for the dangerous product he rented me. "Sorry about that buddy -insert empathetic words- how about this token measure of my Bill good will, say a small % off your next U-Haul rental?" Bill was cold as a cadaver and empty as my confidence in his adherence to basic trailer safety. So in conclusion, I believe it a near certainty that Bill did in fact do me wrong, and he might do you the same if push comes to shove, is that a risk you are willing to take with your carefully hoarded possessions and extremely fragile body?

The after-hours pickup/drropoff experience was of inferior quality. What if it had been 2am and I had no one they could call!?), and when I finally got the app to work, the key wasn't in the slot it was supposed to. Luckily it was just before they opened, so there were employees around, but they weren't too interested in helping until a guy who seemed to be the manager showed up and was able to help me get the key, out of the wrong lock box than what the app said. Vehicle worked fine, got me and my stuff moved safely. 0 stars for the app and pickup experience, 0 stars for the employees milling around before the store was opened who had no interest in helping, 3 stars for manager guy showing up and finding the key for me. would not recommend after hours pickup for mission-critical rentals.
