    Interior vibe.

As Dear Hubby would tell you, I rarely am interested in the same food (or restaurant) as a repeat in a given week. Certainly not back-to-back. However, as a sourdough lover going back to my youth, when I searched Yelp for a lunch spot last weekend when we were in the area, I was excited to see West Coast Sourdough as an option. Not only did we go there on Sunday afternoon; we also returned on Monday mid-day and brought Adored Grandson, too. The first time DH and I split the 8-inch hot pastrami sandwich with au jus on the side. Major yum! The cashier suggested adding their house sauce, which was a great addition to the flavors of the pastrami and sourdough. The au jus added another layer of meaty, salty flavor. I was very happy with that choice. DH also had a cup of clam chowder, and I ordered a chocolate chip cookie. We were happy campers. As I was looking around the interior space, I noticed several seasonal items. One was a lobster roll with bacon sandwich. How did I miss that at the outset? Lobster roll as a fast casual sandwich shop? Hmm! That was the reason that we went back the next day, actually. I raved about the place to AG, who wasn't raised steeped in sourdough flavor goodness, so wasn't as stoked as I was. Still, he really enjoyed his buffalo chicken sandwich. DH and I each ordered our own 6-inch lobster roll sandwich on our return visit. That is the only size that they offer for that special sando. Their take included lots of lobster, plus some crunchy celery and light mayo over tomato and lettuce, so it was served cold. That was fine, but the bacon could have benefited from a warm up. Otherwise, it was delicious. Because it was rich, probably DH and I could have split one sandwich and just ordered something else on the side. I was definitely full on the drive home. The interior of this location is cheerful, with oversized collages of images of California destinations and fresh food items on the feature wall. The team of sandwich artists kept busy with their orders not only for in-house guests, but also take-out orders. We didn't feel rushed to give up our table. We almost bought a take-and-bake large sourdough bread to bring home, but they got busy and we had to head out. Nice to know they offer that option for a reasonable price. Wish we had this expanding chain in Ventura County!

I missed the West Coast Spurdough that our area had near Hillsdale that closed. I was so happy to see this new location pop up! I had the BEST sandwich here today. The turkey and dry salami on sourdough. I only removed the pickles and jalepeno. Then I added oil, vinegar and Dijon. I'm not sure if other people order sandwiches this way, but it's a hit in my family. ;) The sourdough was so fresh and tasty. I also had the clam chowder and that was really good as well. The 15 minute wait was definitely worth it. I went during a busy lunch rush at 1:00 and luckily got the last parking spot in the little plaza.

Tried West Coast Sourdough's new location on Meridian this evening for the first time. I ordered a toasted pastrami sandwich and BBQ chips. I want to support this business, especially because it's in my neighborhood, but I didn't care for my sandwich. It was drowning in house sauce, which made it messy and too tangy. It also needed more pastrami, which I felt was sliced too thin. And this is a small thing, but I ordered Miss Vicki's BBQ chips, which I love, and got Lay's, which I don't really like. I'll try a different sandwich next time and see how it goes.

Stopped by West Coast Sourdough since it had just opened up in my neighborhood and had an ok experience overall. The sandwich tasted fine but the portions were really small for the price, which made it hard to justify the cost. On top of that, the sandwich took a long time to come out even though it wasn't busy. Unfortunately, it just didn't feel worth the money.

    Pick up time
    Deniz D.

I ordered 12 plus sandwiches on Thursday for Sunday pick up. I specifically chose the time 1:20-1:30pm pick up. Obviously there is a reason why I needed the sandwiches at that time. I came in the store for a pick up my order wasn't ready. @West Coast Sourdough how much more days notice do you need to make sure my order ready at the time I requested. Very disappointed,

I like this place ! They make their own bread so it's very fresh and chewy. Food: Pastrami - pretty good overall. I would like a little more meat though. I usually get pastrami sandwiches at Togo's and they pack the meat. Garlic pesto turkey - their number one bestseller. Surprisingly very good. I wasn't looking forward to it because most turkey is dry. But this turkey is flavorful, juicy, and the garlic pesto sauce is a nice touch French dip - very good, flavorful, and dipping the meat into the sauce is awesome. Service - very good. Everyone's very nice. Interior - lot of seats available. Casual. Nice. Parking - A bit small but I've never had trouble finding a spot.

Just opened yesterday! Friendly cashier had a manager/trainer assisting. Line moved quickly to order, took a little while for the food to be ready, but they're making everything fresh and I'm sure that the pace will pick up as they get their feet under them. We had: Turkey and Salami - good quality meat, but not a ton of it on there (they weigh their meats, so this is just how it comes, but they offer extra meat for an upcharge. I'd personally opt for the extra, but my wife thought it was the right amount as-is). Good sourdough. Nice sandwich overall. BLT - crispy smoky bacon, decent tomatoes, same sourdough. Nice little sandwich. Clam Chowder - good flavor, not too thick or clumpy. Very nice Cobb Salad - They were out of hard-boiled eggs, offered me a substitute if I wanted. NBD to me, just took it as is. They forgot the dressing, luckily I live close by so I went back and got it (which was quick and painless). Once I had everything I needed, this was a great salad overall, with generous portions of tasty ingredients. Fresh lettuce and flavorful cherry tomatoes, tasty grilled chicken and bacon, perfect avocados. Side pickles - they forgot them initially, so I figured I might as well ask for them when I went back for dressing. Glad I did -- they are nice and crunchy with a good dill flavor. Chocolate Chip Cookie - OK, but not my favorite Lemon White Chip Cookie - enjoyed this one much more. I think this is going to be a great option to have in the neighborhood. I'd only caution that if you come in the next couple of weeks, you'll want to be patient, and double-check your order before you leave, at least until they get everyone fully trained and up to speed.

The employee helping me never mentioned that the items I asked for cost extra and just automatically added them to my bill. The service was also lacking, and true to the Chipotle comparison, they were very stingy with the scoop sizes. I was really hoping this would become my new go-to spot after Pilates, but I was sadly let down. To top it off, parking in this plaza is pretty difficult since it's shared with so many other busy stores and restaurants. Overall, it just wasn't worth the price or the hassle.

I am watching my weight and fried chicken probably is not the best choice for that. Starbird gave me a free $10 reward after my first purchase. The space has a modern yet warm feel with beautiful natural wood finishes, fresh loaves of sourdough lining the shelves, pastries displayed in the case, and a mix of large communal wood tables, regular seating, and high-top tables. It's the kind of café that makes you want to slow down and stay awhile. The staff was friendly and helped us choose both a pastry and our toast. They were also happy to customize our order--we asked for the levain sourdough toast with butter instead of the usual olive oil. That toast was absolutely divine. The sourdough had the perfect balance: chewy without being too sour, with a crust that was crisp but not so hard that it fought back. Easily the best sourdough toast I've had in the Bay Area. If you come here, this is the one thing you have to order. The only disappointment was the butter. They serve French butter, but for an extra $2, the portion was tiny and honestly nothing special. I've had better butter from Whole Foods. It didn't take away from how incredible the bread was, but it wasn't worth the upcharge. Their Kouign-amann is also one of the best I've ever had. Instead of the typical flat, flaky style, theirs is taller with countless buttery layers that create an amazing texture. The cappuccino was another highlight. It had subtle notes of orange peel, whiskey, and cardamom, making it unique. The latte art was beautiful too. Overall, Manresa Bread is one of those cafés that makes you want to sit down with a laptop or a book and spend a few hours there. The only downside is there are no power outlets, so come with a full battery if you're planning to work. Must orders: Levain sourdough toast with butter and the Kouign-amann. 1st time here. A friend invited me to join her, and said it was where many of her co-workers ate…read more The short version is: my meal was very sub-par, and way over-priced. The details: I normally don't eat a lot of meat, so I chose the Falafel Salad. It came with extremely little lettuce, plus a few olives (which I don't eat), onions (which I also eat sparingly), tomatoes, cucumbers, and the falafel balls. Oh! And there was feta cheese, but those were such miniscule pieces, and so few, that I wouldn't have remembered it was supposed to be part of the salad, if I didn't just pull up a photo online with their ordering system. What you see in the photo online is not what you get. The photo actually looks like a salad. Since it was called a salad, I expected there to be more lettuce, than the few pieces on the plate. I mainly was cutting up the cucumber & tomato pieces to go with the falafels. I don't even recall any dressing. There were also some pita slices with what I assumed was hummus. Whatever the dip was, it did not taste good to me at all. So I left all of the pita bread, as well, since it was dry without anything on it. Maybe what I assumed was hummus was a dressing. Hard to know, but it was not tasty. For the $27 I paid at a walk up counter, I would have expected much better food! I have bought frozen falafels at Lunardis (around $7) and made a salad for them at home, and enjoyed it very much, which is why I ordered it. I have purchased Spanakopita at the store many times, (about $5 for around 12 of them at the store) and made them at home, which is why I didn't order that. The falafel salad was not an enjoyable meal for me at Yiassoo's. I'd also seen some reviews from a few years back that said they paid around $10 or $11 for their meal. That is more in-line price-wise with what you get, based upon my meal. With most of the meals around $20 for lunch, I feel they were very over-priced. I also asked my friend if she'd like to split a Baklava. They had a pistachio one & chocolate one. My friend wanted to try the chocolate one, so I bought that. I didn't think I was too into baklava, but thought it might be nice to try at this highly rated Greek restaurant. The main flavor that came through was the honey & nuts. The chocolate was just a tiny, narrow drizzle on top. I didn't hate it, but I would never order it again. My friend took one bite, and said she mainly tasted the honey, and would take it home for her husband. It may be very good baklava, but it was not to our tastes. My friend ordered the Gyro salad. It had a large pile of shaved meat, and she seemed to enjoy it. She ordered it To-Go, as she knew she'd be taking some of it home. She seemed to have more lettuce under her pile of meat than my meal got. Maybe because it was in a To-Go box, which might be larger than the plate? Or maybe the person making my salad just wasn't paying attention to how to make a decent meal. I was hoping I was trying a restaurant that I could go back to for something different. Based upon my experience, I would not go back, if I had a choice. I gave it 3 stars, because maybe other dishes, or people looking to just eat meat or falafel balls and not much else would enjoy it. I only have the 1 meal to review, but it does not encourage me to try it again. Overpriced & not a fulfilling meal.

Cocktails were up to their usual high standard -- rye Manhattan for the BF and clarified milk punch for me. I don't get out much these days and I rarely drink alcohol, but is $20 a lot for a cocktail? Or is that normal now? They were great though. BF got the ribeye with morels, which was perfectly cooked and unbelievably tender. I had the burger, which was more exciting than it sounds, dressed with a wild combo of veggies, cheese and bacon while still managing to be harmonious and fresh tasting. Side of fries were crisp and tasty, though not as perfectly hot as I would ideally wish. Because the burger was late coming out, or server (Bernardo I think?) comped us an amazing little dish of vanilla soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt, along with the butterscotch pudding that we ordered. The pudding didn't have the strong butterscotch flavor that I hoped for, but the vanilla ice cream stole the dessert show. OCK isn't a place I can afford often, but I still really like it. I appreciate the creativity of the dishes, the quality ingredients, and the bar. And the old-school shopping center vibe of the Pruneyard is low key festive and garden-like. The interior of the restaurant is kind of standard-industrial modern, but nicely so. Oh, and their glassware is super nice.

Staff are either untrained or making stuff up to tell a story. I asked about the foie gras and how…read moreit's sourced and they told me it was locally sourced which is highly illegal as foie gras bans the production of foie gras and their unethical means in the state of California. Huge legal issue. The wait isn't too bad and the restaurant is semi clean. Loco moco is modernized and is tasty, not too heavy. Everything else we ordered were just below average or okay at best, nothing too special.
