So many Sandwich merchants around San Jose Ca. The commercial brought me here and I had to try this delicios, juicy, mouth watering sandwich AKA "Steak and Cheese Melt" OMG! The medium was too small. I will have to go large next time LOL! probably go into a food coma and pass out on the table. zzzzzz!! and fall asleep. The location is in South San Jose in a busy plaza center with a lot of different businesses around. Parking will be a challenge but it's free. All you have to do is find a space. I usually go early and try to avoid the traffic both cars and people. I walk with a cane and have a AFO brace on my left foot. Service was 5 star. Muy Bueno! Muchas gracias!! This was my first time trying Firehouse Subs, and I honestly don't understand the appeal. I know plenty of people like it, but to me the sandwiches just weren't good quality. The bread, meat, and overall flavor all tasted below average. I'd even rather eat at Subway, and that's saying something, because Subway still doesn't come close to a good local deli like Zanotto's or any number of places that make fresh, quality sandwiches, not to mention firehouse is more expensive. I'm not writing this to discourage anyone who enjoys Firehouse Subs. Everyone has different tastes, and if you like it, that's perfectly fine. Parking can be a bit of a fuss so park further and walk to the shop as it could be a bit dangerous if you are reversing as it a a very busy area Service was fast and great, the staffs were awesome. The food is fine but the service is not great. Came in to use my free birthday sub and when I was at the counter and he scanned my QR code from the app he said there was no birthday reward. He asked when my birthday was and if I had redeemed it already. I showed him on my phone that it is still available. So instead I just ended up order on the app and doing it myself. Having driven by Firehouse Subs many time, we never had the chance to drop by and try their sandwiches. However, this past weekend, we had the opportunity to visit the San Jose locations and extinguish our hunger with some delicious subs. This location, located in Almaden Ranch in San Jose, was the perfect stop for lunch. Walking in, you see the awesome firehouse decorations with dining areas both inside and outside. One of the coolest decoration is a hand drawn and painted mural done at Firehouse Subs headquarters in Florida that is unique to this location and recognizes some San Jose history. One of the workers was very helpful and kind! Wish we got his name to highlight him. The menu had a nice selection of hot sandwiches with firehouse themed names, along with soups, chili, and salads. It was going to be tricky to pick just 1 sandwich each so we got 4 (small and medium size) subs to share and taste as much as possible along with some chili. The sandwiches came straight out the oven toasted and perfectly crunchy. We really enjoyed the meatballs, especially the Pepperoni Pizza Meatball Sub! Simply horrible service I'm not a person to write reviews. I went to two weeks ago and it keeps bothering me so I decided to say a couple words. Got there on a Wednesday5pm, I was the only customer, three people worked there, a young guy, a lady making sandwiches and look like a manager sweeping up. The two people except for the manager did not know what they were doing, and a manager let them struggle. The young guy on the catch register could not run it struggling the whole time. Finally makes the ticket for the person making a sandwich. She says it was her first day only way she learned how to make sandwiches from the company video. No help was given to her after struggling 25 minutes to make my sandwich when I return home it was wrong. Never again will I go there? No longer what it used to be. 7 years ago they would give you all the sauce you want, had interesting hot sauces for everyone to try. My biggest complaint however is their bread, paying $19 for a large sandwich only to get home and eat gross soggy bread. They have to fix this issue. Multiple times I've ordered the same sandwich, even if I order it without lettuce and tomatoes, I get home and it's this gross clam chowder of a sandwich with wrapping paper stuck to it. We bought two Firehouse Subs last night for Dinner and they were to best subs we have ever eaten, price point was just a tad over Subway right down the street, 35 bucks at subway and 38 at Firehouse Subs. These actually made two meals for us, Loads of good quality meats and were perfect. We are Retired and getting an actual two meal sub was a big plus for us, We will be going back soon. My experience there was just ok We walked in to a Smokey restaurant. To me that means we will be leaving smelling like smoke. I guess it's appropriate because it is fire fighting theme. I actually like the theme. The workers did not leave an impression. I felt that I was bothering them. It was a little late, maybe an hour and a half before closing. There was no greeting or friendliness. The workers didn't look like they were talking to each other either. The sandwiches were just ok. They were also too pricey for what you get. It was my first time here, but I came in with a T-Mobile Tuesday deal. It was a free medium Hook and Ladder sandwich with any purchase. All the staff were awesome and provided great customer service. Our food came out pretty quickly, about 5 mins. Mac and cheese: very creamy and cheesy! It came with breadcrumbs, but I actually wasn't a fan of that because it made the max and cheese a little too salty. Hook and ladder: I really enjoyed it. Lots of meat and moist! My son and his wife have a toddler and a newborn, and I always ask if I can take them lunch. They requested Firehouse Subs and gave me their order. They loved their sandwiches and I ordered the mac & cheese, which was very good. I ordered ahead so it would be ready when I got there and it was. The only thing I would recommend is calling because when you order it goes to a site that charges a lot more and I saved almost $20 by not doing that. The inside of the sandwich shop was clean and the staff were friendly. BTW when I was inside getting my order, I saw a meatball with pepperoni sandwich that looked and smelled delicious. The restaurant is firehouse-themed, hence the name Firehouse Subs, with various firehouse memorabilia lining the walls - firemen gear, hats, etc. It's located in a retail plaza so there's plenty of parking. I ordered a medium Hook & Ladder sub ($10.49) and a bag of Miss Vickie's Jalapeño chips ($1.49). A little pricey for a sandwich, but on-par for the area. The sub comes with smoked turkey, honey ham, Monterey Jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, and mustard. It also came with a pickle that was just right in terms of crunch and flavor. The sub was good, but nothing special. Probably would not go out of my way to get it again and definitely not for that price. 5-stars for the young lady working the cash register. read more

I've enjoyed plenty of them where I live, but I ended up visiting this location while visiting family because it was exceedingly convenient, sitting practically next door to the Total Wine on Cherry Lane and Almaden Expressway. And if you know me, you know I always stop by there to browse their wares. I went inside the vacant-other-than-employees store (pandemic restrictions are currently allowing only outdoor seating) to redeem a reward via their mobile app for a free medium sub for my birthday. They'll need you to use the app to activate the reward. The app will then display your phone number, which they'll key into their point of sale system to settle your check. I opted for the New York Steamer (usually $9.99 for a medium sub). I chose the wheat bread, which tasted just fine. The brisket and pastrami aren't a huge portion but taste great, especially with flavor and creaminess left by the mustard, mayo, and Italian dressing. The provolone is scant but adds a nice texture. Normal prices in this region likely will make you balk, but if you sign up for the birthday reward at Firehouse Subs, you can enjoy a tasty hot sandwich once a year. I've also had the delicious pepperoni pizza sub...WOW! Today I got a club with a tiny bit of Mayo. It was warm and melty and, like all their subs...a comfort food. Oh, and there was REAL bacon and not that weird stuff some places call "bacon." THE BROWNIE: Hands down, my favorite from a sandwich/fast food. Such moist and chocolaty goodness! I'm saving it for later...mmmm! I get one every time (worth the 430 calories, we don't come often enough to worry). THE BREAD: not sure what it is, but dang it's so delicious and a perfect accompaniment to every one of their subs. I usually eat there twice a week. But for my fast past 3 visits I have not been given my rewards points. I have contacted Customer Services 3 times, but have not received a response.
