Had a chicken salad sandwich, BBQ chips, and a mini loaf of chocolate chip banana bread for dinner tonight. It was my first time trying this sandwich from Boudin and I hoped it would taste like the one Panera used to offer because the ingredients seemed similar. Unfortunately, it wasn't great. The sandwich was small and there was just a little bit of chicken salad on it. I could taste the Dijon mustard in the salad, but I think they needed to add more mayo because it was dry. There was one lone red grape sliced in half. The crust on the sourdough bread was hard and tough to chew. The saving grace of the meal was the mini loaf of chocolate chip banana bread. It was soft, not overly sweet, with lots of chocolate chips. I really enjoyed it. I had a decent French Dip Deluxe from this location about a month ago, so I'll most likely be back. Stopped by for a quick bite while in the area. The food came out piping hot. I generally ask for my fries unsalted everywhere I go but forgot to ask. The French fries were salted but they weren't overly salted which is really nice. My partner got the chicken salad with a side of mixed greens. The side came with bits of sourdough croutons! A quick google search mentioned that the sourdough bread is dairy free so I'll have to try a sandwich next time. After our food came out and there was no line of customers ordering, an employee came around and asked each table how their food was. The thoughtfulness was really impressive considering I would put Boudin in there with the likes of Panera or other similar "fast food" sandwich kind of establishments. read more

I ordered their rustic tomato soup in a sourdough bread bowl, a French onion grilled cheese sandwich with a side of Cesar salad. They gave us an extra Cesar salad. Last time I came here I bought Gavin a cup of clam chowder and a turkey avocado sandwich. I will say their soup and chowder is excellent, but the sandwiches were quite dry. Service was okay. My friend and I stopped by for lunch, after a bit of holiday shopping. It was so busy inside. We have both been here many times and couldn't believe how long the line was. It took about 30 minutes before we got to the register. They started off with two cashiers then added a third. That made the line move a bit faster. We placed our order and were given a number to put at our table so when our food was ready, it would be delivered to us. I love their sourdough bread here. You have the option to also buy bread to take home. They have many shapes of their sourdough bread and also have cinnamon raisin bread and a seasonal stuffing bread. We both ordered the 1/2 delux roast beef dip and a bowl of soup combo. For our soup we chose the tomato. The rustic tomato soup is my favorite. I also purchased a loaf of the stuffing bread to take home. The rustic stuffing bread has sage, rosemary, cranberry and parsley loaded into soft, chewy rustic sourdough loaf. It's delicious. We found a table to sit at and placed our number on top. Our food was delivered within 10 minutes, which wasn't too bad, considering how busy it was. Our food was fresh and hot. The soup was so comforting and delicious as usual. My 1/2 sandwich was very hearty with roast beef, caramelized onions, cheese and horseradish spread. It was served with a side of au jus. We both enjoyed our lunch very much. Customer service here is also very good. The cashier helping me was so sweet and kind. I loved her positive attitude. The workers here are nice and friendly. The restaurant looks clean. I love when restaurants keep their restrooms clean. The food came out quickly. My wife and I ordered from the kiosk and the layout is very easy to use and navigate. Got the Mac and Cheese, Caesar Salad with clam chowder on the side, French Dip Deluxe and Chicken Pesto sandwich. Ordered the Caesar salad and some of the lettuce was bad. My wife and I had to take out the bad ones. I tried a little bit of my wife's French Dip and the Au Jus tasted a little different than the usual one. My Chicken Pesto was delicious. My first time trying Pesto mayo and it tasted a little different. I prefer pesto by itself. I love how they made their Mac and cheese with a little bit of bread crumbs. The Mac and cheese tasted so good and creamy with some bread crumbs crispiness. The clam chowder tasted so delicious and fresh. Overall my experience here was wonderful. read more

Similar experience to others with the chicken salad sandwich. A meager scoop of chicken salad dumped in the middle of the bread and not spread out at all. The description mentioned mayo and dijon mustard which I guess must have been in the salad because both slices of bread were bone dry with zero condiments and no option to add any in online ordering so a very dry sandwich overall. The chicken salad itself was ok - but nothing special. And for a place that is supposed to specialize in sourdough bread - the bread had issues, multiple large air pockets, not much flavor, very chewy and the crust was like shoe leather and virtually impossible to bite through without ripping the sandwich apart. read more

Our first time here! The food was pretty good, we really enjoyed the clam chowder and the street fries. The Caprese sandwich had great flavor, though the bread was a bit too hard for us. I got the brie/apple/fig jam melt and their two styles of fries (pictured). I had had a similar sandwich elsewhere which was amazing so I was really excited to see this one on the menu but the apple slices were too thick, it just didn't come together into a pleasant bite. The fries were disappointing, flavor/quality as well as the size. I mean this special version with the ranch sauce and the chili, just look at them, it's barely anything for $6.50 compared to the already overpriced $5 for plain. Plus everything was ready earlier than the scheduled pickup time, and with no warmer or anything for waiting food that meant everything was cold. "Crusty golden brown exterior, with a dense, tight crumb. The bread itself isn't heavy. It's actually quite tender and soft inside. Slightly sweet and loaded with raisins. Order: California Veggie with sliced sourdough (instead of multigrain default) and mixed greens (instead of plain chips) 15 mins between ordering and receiving the order. Although I was sitting in front, they didn't seen to notice me and after 15 minutes I decided to stand 2 inches away from the counter and they finally noticed me after a bit and assumed correctly my order name and handed it to me. How long was my order ready for? How is a place known for bread make such bad bread? The rest on the sandwich was great but the bread completely killed it. The whites of the bread were so thin and airy that without the crust it might have just fallen apart completely. And the crust...oh the crust...I felt like I was chewing for hours. That crust was harder to chew than cardboard. The salad was good, the vinaigrette sauce was good. The things in the sandwich and the sandwich sauce was good. Dog friendly patio! Perfect for a quick lunch. My party orders takeout before heading there through their website then go outside to enjoy our food with our dogs. Boudin is a regular stop for me because they have the most delicious sandwiches and homemade soups and salads. That's not what this review is about though. It's for excellent customer service. While waiting for A. to go order that I had placed in the restaurant, a woman came in visibly angry, and demanded that her prior food order be refunded and an additional gift card be added for her inconvenience. Michele handled the interaction with calmness and grace. The woman was rude, but Michele took it in stride. I only noticed the interaction because I was just a few feet away. This kind of Customer Service is something that should be recognized and I hope management will do so. PS. Please bring back the cold chickens pesto sandwich. The new hot one doesn't cut it. Ok, it's been a year since I left my last review of this place. Tonight my wife and I dined and actually have seen some improvements. The staff was very good. The food didn't take terribly long to come out and it was correct. We got a couple of salads and the cheesy garlic bread. Everything was satisfying. The place was clean and they have new graphics on the wall. Funny thing though, the soda machine was once again partially broken. I think they ran out of CO2. If it was CO2, here's a tip, whatever amount you think you need, buy some extras as emergency spares. If your machine was just broken, well that happens. It's nice to see improvement. I've been wanting to try Boudin for a while! Finally had the chance today when I came in for an early lunch. I ordered a Bread Bowl of Clam Chowder and a Tuna Melt with greens. The Clam Chowder in a bread bowl was a little disappointing! The chowder was thin and watered down. I prefer my clam chowder thick and chunky! The chowder I had today reminded more of a canned clam chowder. Too bad, I was really hoping it would be great! The Tuna Melt was good! Loved the way it was cooked and prepared! I can't even justify this 1 star. This place is horrible. The place is dirty and stinky. Came here twice and the same thing happened. Except this time around I had to cancel my order. Why does two salads take 45 minutes? That is just ridiculous. To top it off, Alejandra shorted me on my refund. She literally had my original receipt in her hands processing my refund. Confirm and verify girl. I tried to get her attention twice and she blatantly ignored me. So I raised my voice....yes I did, loudly! I'm generally not disrespectful until you caused me to disrespect you. She shouldn't come to work high as a kite. If you can't function high, then be sober. She can't drink sugared drinks--trash. 2) Wife's soup was supposed to come with a roll. No roll (but two bags of croutons--yippee!). 3) I ordered a side of tomato soup with my sandwich. No soup. Not only is the food really good, but I never had customer service like this young lady provided at this restaurant. I believe her name was Alexis. Typically I don't leave reviews but it was my first time here and I came in with my child, already feeling overstimulated, but she was so welcoming, so very helpful and the sweetest person. First timer here and had a great experience! Alexis was the cashier and she was super friendly and easy to talk to. She took the time to help us with the menu since there was so much to choose from and recommended the crispy chicken parm for myself and grilled cheese for my kids that we ended up loving! After 25 minutes, I checked with the cashier, who apologized and attempted to comp our meal but couldn't process the refund. The French Dip Deluxe is generally pretty good--except for today, when they decided not to send me the au jus with it. Perhaps they should call it French dip on their receipts instead of "deluxe beef" so the people working there catch their own mistakes? French dip is made dry and a little bland on purpose to offset the salty, savory juice you dip it in, so doesn't taste very good without it. Luckily Grubhub refunded me with credits, but it sure made for a disappointing lunch. read more
