I had left a clients car here with him and when I returned the car back to the client, a couple days later he received a ticket!!! it was a parking violation at 2am in the morning. That car was supposed to beat the shop till I picked it up, yes he was allowed to drive it like any other mechanic would have to to check up on it, but not at 2am in the morning. I went to confront him about the ticket and he straight up said yes it was me buti aint paying anything!! he claimed that I had left the car for more than a week and he had to park it somewhere cus he couldn't leave it at the shop. the owner has a tracker in the car showing how long the car was there for and I have calls and proof that the car was there from Wednesday to monday!!! And we also had some problems with him about warranty on a transmission and he didn't wanna cover the warrant. Business with this guy has been Nothing but headaches. I'm not here to close down his business cus we all need to make money to feed our family but I'm here so that you guys can be more attentive ablut what as going on around his shop and so that possibly this guy will come to his senses and own up to his mistakes like a man and not make excuse. read more

i brought in my truck for a transmission issue, it was getting hot after a couple hours driving it and it would start slipping a lot in 1-2 2-3. i brought it to him for a Full rebuild including a new pump and torque converter. he calls me and says the truck is ready, i go pick it up and drive it, as soon as i start driving it felt worse then how i dropped it off, before it would take a few hours to get the transmission to act up but after a couple mins i started having all these issues. i bring it to him and he tells me " THATS NORMAL I DONT FEEL NOTHING WRONG WITH IT". the next day in the morning same issue i called him and he says i need to replace the transmission control module, i replace it with an original one from the dealer got it programmed, i got installed and i drive it and it's still the same thing. i gave it another week with the same issue and i take it back to the shop and abel drove it and tells me the same thing "I DONT FEEL ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT" and then he tells me " DONT WORRY I GAVE YOU WARRANTY IT HAS WARRANTY FOR 2 years, BRING IT BSCK WHEN THE TRANSMISSION BREAKD". CLEARLY THE TRANSMISSION HAS AN ISSUE AND HE DOESNT WANT TO TAKE IT APART AGAIN AND ADDRESS THE ISSUE. ITS BE AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR 5 months and he doesn't want to fix the transmission. read more

I was referred to this shop by a friend after having some transmission issues and I am very grateful for that recommendation. I shopped around quite a bit, got prices all over the place for the rebuild of my 4L 80 E in my Chevy express van that I use for my day-to-day work so I had tons of time constraints with having this done as well but West Coast Transmission to the rescue! First and foremost I truly believe in freedom of speech therefore I'm thankful for this app for allowing people to voice their opinions.However I was recommended to west coast transmission by a good friend of mine trustworthy,he highly spoke of their quality work.I was reluctant to take my truck to just anyone specially a stranger but with the friend vauching what's hell ...my truck should be in good hands.As they should they provided good customer service at the time and right away got down to the problem which makes life alittle easier.At a reasonable price he got the job done I was so happy to pick my gmc truck up.Everything was running smooth till the following week I had to drive to the valley.On my way home to the Antelope Valley the transmission started to over heat so I called Abel which claims to be to be the owner he doubted the transmission was having complications but results don't lie.A few weeks went by I told myself a rebuild transmission needs time maybe to fall in place and adapt to new parts.Then it started to skip and jerk like almost kicking inn.When I drive it local it's back and forth with alittle jerk ...again coming back from valley transmission hot super hot...that morning I told Abel what was going on he was kind enough to check it out,he took it for a ride around the corner which didn't give it time to show any failure so he said just take a picture when it over heats .Not even 10 minutes into the freeway I sent him two videos of the transmission over heating which he claimed not to be able to see a blur video ok.So finally I asked him he needed to really look into it because these problem can escalate to something regretable.I find it weird in how he's top of the line scanner couldn't detect anything wrong but on the other hand my auto zone scanner came back with results.Again I'm forever thankful to Abel the owner of west coast transmission for taking the time to fix my truck...oh by the way I respect in how they back up the warentee..so let see in how things turn out which I know and hope everyone can walk away win/win situation...I'll keep everyone posted...I know how things can get from a business owners perspective...trust me I run a business as well... with that said have a great day everyone. read more

DO NOT TRUST THIS SHOP At least, not if you want an honest, good job done at a fair price. And to be sure - their prices are very low - but that's only because they don't do the work. I brought my old Toyota Land Cruiser here. The transmission was overheating, and It "knocked" pretty hard when I put it into reverse. Henry gave me a quote that was half of what the shop that all the vintage Toyota mechanics recommend (more on them later). I was strapped for cash, so I crossed my fingers and let Henry's shop work on my baby. Huge mistake. I got the truck back a few weeks later, and the overheating issue was solved BUT - instead of a knock when putting it into reverse, it was a kick. Like the whole car shook. Not only that, but it also did it when I put it into Drive, AND (it gets worse) when driving it kicked again when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Like a hard metallic CLANG that you could feel through your seat and hear over loud music. It was worse after the rebuild. What. The. F^%#???!! I brought it back. Told Henry. He seemed annoyed, but said he'd take a look. He kept it for a month, mumbling something about the valve body on the phone, until I came and picked it up and there was ... zero improvement. None at all. It was exactly as bad. I confronted Henry and he said, and this is a direct quote, "You can't expect it to feel the same." No sh$t Sherlock! I expect it to feel better, not worse! Cut to 18 months later. The gear shifting had gotten even worse. I was worried some real damage was being done to the drive train. I sucked it up and brought the truck to the transmission shop used by all the vintage Land Cruiser restoration shops - the expensive one. They took apart the transmission and were flabbergasted when I told them it had been rebuilt 18 months prior. Burnt clutches and steels. Worn washers. Rust! Valve body full of clutch material and rust. Torque converter contamination of clutch material and rust. Bushings rusted. The owner of the shop was taken aback that someone had claimed to rebuild this transmission. He was especially shocked by all the rust. He figured Henry's shop must have either ignored the rust that was in there, or (more likely) switched my transmission out for one that had been laying around for a long time exposed to the elements. I wondered why they'd painted the whole transmission case silver when I got it. Now I know. When I told the owner of the good transmission shop what Henry said when I complained he shook his head sadly and said, "Well, when you pick it up from us, you can expect it to feel like a new transmission." And it did. I asked Henry for my money back and told me to fuck myself and, "Do what you gotta do." Cool. If I have to sue him to get my money back I will. I had the transmission shop document the damage and keep aside the rusted worm parts they took out. I'm also reporting the shop to the DMV/CA Bureau of Automotive Repair. He's a crook. And that's not just me saying it. The City Attorney brought charges against him for swindling customers in the past. Don't make the same mistake I did. Bring your car anywhere else. read more

Please don't ever go here!!! You know how people say "Find an honest trustworthy mechanic." This place is the complete opposite. I have been lied to, taken advantage of and screwed over by this place. I've had my car since January 2013. Its been at West Coast transmissions for about half the time I've owned it. I am not just writing this review out of anger or a personal issues with West Coast Transmissions. I am writing this to prevent anyone else from ever having to deal with the most unprofessional disappointing rip off people ever. They don't care about you or your car. As a woman, I always have to worry about car repair shops taking advantage of me because they think I don't know any better. West Coast was recommended to me by a friend after I had concerns that another shop was scamming me. Turns out, I was right about the other guys scamming me. Henry was honest and referred me to the dealership because there was a recall on my transmission that I didn't know about instead of just making me buy a new one from him. I baked him cupcakes and brought him beer because I was so incredibly grateful! That was the least I could do- he saved me $4,000!!! I took my car to someone a relative recommended and that mechanic did something I had discussed with him NOT to do and he did it anyway. Bottom line is it caused my transmission to get worse. I have used this other mechanic before and he has done work on my car and told me it needed to be fixed. Apparently because I am related to someone else that he has been ripping off and doing work that didn't need to be done and thought he could get away with that from me. As much as I want to name the business I can't because it will ruin some relationships. Now, after this happened and I was quoted a price I decided to shop around first. I know how much money a kit to rebuild my transmission costs so I know what I was being charged for labor. It wasn't a terrible price however I am not new to auto repair and I know how long it takes to do something. Wholesale Transmission is the BOMB! Call and ask for Henry and tell him you read my yelp review. I called and Henry quoted me a price and I asked about a warranty figured I would get 90 days. He said one year! I couldn't believe it, I went down to introduce myself and let him know who I was so when I was ready he would remember me. Two days before the 4th of July and I go down and he says leave it and I will have it done tomorrow. I did not think it was possible. Figured it would be late the next day. It was less than 24 hours. They must have elf's working in the back, I just didn't see them. I got the best price in the SFV and my cat runs like brand new. I would not expect the same 24 hour turn around time. I can tell you this, you are getting good parts from experienced professionals and you will be so happy when you get your car back. Any transmission or clutch work don't call anyone else! My car was leaking transmission oil, I was told by a mechanic it was a transmission problem and it would cost me anywhere from $1,000 to $1,400. I went to west coast transmissions and the owner explained it was only a minor seal leak and charged me $45 and I was out of there in a hour .... I had my car there for over a month thanks to my insurance company triple A.. Triple A paid them fir storage which Henry was so kind as to say he would put that towards the repairs for my car. He said my car would be ready this past Monday or Tuesday. It was not. When they receieved the check no one called to let me know a thing. When I finally reached them again, they said my car is being worked on,which they said last time. And it woukd be ready by yesterday or monday next week. So basically the fact that my car is all i have to handle business, go to work, care for my daughter etc means nothing. Then yesterday happened. I was told my car will be parked onthe street with my parts shoved in pieces in my trunk. I have a right to be pissed at this point abd as a consumer i have the right to post this. Im sick of people like these mechanics thinking they can take my rights away. Which includes my right to freedomof speech and my right to my property. Yes they have been reported. read more

Lesson learned - You do get what you pay for!!! I had my transmission done here about 2 years ago (sometime in 2010). My check engine light recently came on and my regular mechanic said it had something to do with the transmission. I took it back to Henry at West Coast Transmissions and he asked when I had it done. I told him it had been more than a year. I had to take my car in to have it checked and they verified that it had been more than a year since I had the transmission done. After leaving my car for half the day, I was told that the repairs that I needed (and I still don't know what they are because they never fully explained them to me) would run no less than $600. WTH? I had my 2000 Honda Accord for 10 years before it had to have the transmission replaced. I replace it and within 2 years I need more repairs on top of that!!! What kind of business are these people running? They should really stand behind their product. I would never recommend anyone to have their vehicle even looked at by these clowns! read more

I took my 2003 ford f150 to my neighborhood mechanic because it was leaking transmission fluid very bad, my neighborhood mechanic recommended a rebuilt transmission for $1900 and then I found west coast transmissions in the local recycler and then I brought my car over November 28 and talked to Henry and he checked my truck and advised me that the leak was a leaky cooler line thought the radiator. He then installed a new line and serviced my transmission for $200 and my truck has been working working perfect. I would recommend west coast transmission to everyone including my friends and family. read more
