Very nice little place on the north side of the island. I've been coming to Mt. Desert island for 35 years since I was a little kid and I do remember some pretty bad pizza even when I was a kid. This place is not that at all. We got the Greek salad and a sausage and pepper pizza. Dough was thin but with a good chew and crisp. Salad was simple and fresh. Being from NJ I've had my fair share of really great ny and nj pizza, which some consider the best in the country. West Eden can easily play with the big boys when it comes to pies. Also, I'm always a fan of supporting a small family business, which I am as well and this business is run by a very nice local family. We will be back!!

We got the Big Mac pizza and a meatball sub, both were amazing! The dough and crust on the pizza were so good and the perfect texture. They offer a decent beer selection as well

We went the first night we arrived in the Acadia area. Our VRBO was situated only minutes from the brewery and so we walked there the first night. As stated in a previous review of Atlantic Brewing, it is such a nice location. It has a great vibe, and I always appreciate the little playground where the kids can hang out while we drink beer or wait for our food. The service was wonderful and the food came out rather quickly. My daughter ordered the wings, which she absolutely loved (as did my husband and I). My son ordered the mac and cheese, which is cheesed to perfection. It was so creamy and delicious. My husband and I shared the sample platter and it was definitely enough food for the both of us. All the meats were smoked, juicy, and just delicious. We loved the jalapeno corn bread and I always love me a good bowl of baked beans. Everything was just top notch! I highly recommend Mainely Meats as a stop for lunch or dinner while you are on the island. You won't regret it!

Sweet Baby Jesus. If…read moreyou're the sort of person who requires cloth napkins, tasteful lighting and a waiter named Chad who explains the provenance of every pea on your plate, don't go here. But if you want honest food at today's prices, pull up a chair. The lobster roll was a revelation. Not that mayonnaise-based lobster purée somebody scraped out of a tub and smeared onto a bun that had been sitting around since the Carter administration. This was real chunks of lobster, lightly seasoned, piled onto a fresh roll and left alone to taste like lobster. Then came the steamers. Sweet mercy. Those steamers were the best thing I have tasted since 1974, and I'm not entirely sure what happened in 1974, but apparently somebody knew how to steam a clam. The service was excellent--friendly, attentive and without the usual modern-day restaurant ritual of wondering whether your server has forgotten you exist. The décor? Let's just say aging fish camp chic. If you're looking for polished brass and a chandelier imported from France, keep driving. If you want the feeling that somebody might walk in carrying a cooler full of flounder, you're home. For the love of all that is holy, give this place a try. Come hungry. Leave happy. And if you encounter a cloth napkin, somebody has probably made a terrible mistake

The employees were fun and they made the experience nicer. The next day it was time for lunch and my husband said lets go back to the Traveling Lobster, I said (and later regretted) no let's try somewhere else. We tried a place with a catchy lobster name and the teenage boy, behind the counter of the takeout as he handed us our change said, you're leaving me a tip - right? In unison we both said no. I added we don't tip workers at McDonalds, we're not tipping you and even if we did, we wouldn't tip you because of your demand, he walked away nonplussed, to add insult to injury the food was mediocre for the price. Later that afternoon we tried another lobster stand, and it was worse; the food was terrible for the price, we ordered a side of lobster mac and cheese and there was not a shred of lobster in it, we ended up taking it back and getting our money. Starving, we went back to the Traveling Lobster and had another great meal, listened to trivia and left satisfied. What we learned is if a stand isn't busy or has few cars, don't bother, there's a reason. By all means go the Travelin Lobster, the parking lot is busy, the line moves fast and the food comes out fast and excellent, the employees don't attempt to shame you into tipping them and when you order lobster mac and cheese, you get plenty of lobster. I also learned that my sweet husband is sometimes right :).

No. But it's a nice healthy option if you want to lay off the butter and lobster for an evening or just want more veggies in general. I personally wasn't a fan of the customer service. The waitress looked very annoyed with our questions and had to repeat one things to us about an entree. We felt like an inconvenience and when we wanted a side or water, it was very difficult to flag our waitress down. When asking another waitress-- they also appeared annoyed. Potatoes and veggie shareables: The best it can get. You can tell the chef really put his heart into these recipes. I should have just ordered more of this. Pizza: It looks great but lacked so much flavor. It fell apart so quickly, couldn't even hold. The crust was also overly burnt. The pepperoni is "local" but way too spicy for a typical pep. They need a sauce to help cool down the spice-- I'd say ranch-- but maybe the chef can come up with one better. It was one of the worst pizzas I've had. Cocktails: Tasty and refreshing. I wasn't drinking but went with Hop water. Adding a lemon to it helped brighten it up-- surprised that's not offered. A great one time experience!

After an hour, I checked back and was told there were still four tables ahead of us. We didn't end up being seated until nearly two hours after we arrived. Once we were seated, our waitress let us know the pizza would also take quite a while. It ended up being another hour before our food arrived. Waiting nearly three hours from arrival to being served is simply unacceptable. From what I could see, there were only about eight staff members working, including the host, bartender, dishwasher, and servers. It was obvious they were overwhelmed and the restaurant was severely understaffed for the number of customers coming in. While I don't blame the employees they were doing the best they could the business clearly wasn't prepared to handle the crowd. It's disappointing because the property has a lot of potential, but poor management, extremely slow service, and inadequate staffing completely overshadowed the experience. Until they can properly staff the restaurant and provide realistic wait times, I can't recommend dining here. Save yourself the frustration and go somewhere else.

I honestly was impressed by their serving size and pricing. Definitely very fair pricing and the rolls are packed with meat. I was so hungry I didn't expect to be full, but their portion sizes definitely filled us all up. I don't have much experience with lobster rolls since I'm not from the Northeast, BUT I would say that these rolls were among the best I've had during my travels both on this trip and prior trips in the Northeast. It's also so convenient that they're right outside the National park so you don't even have to drive that far to find them. Great food and great pricing for being right outside a National park. Yummy burger but soggy bun (they didn't ask how to cook it). The Caesar salad was such a disappointment for $17 (no protein). I appreciate that Abel's has a small menu, presumably so they can execute a handful of items really well. It is so easy to make a Caesar salad elevated but it was an absolute fail - grated cheese instead of shaved and a dressing with zero taste. Sadly the blueberry pie was also a miss. The filling was way too citrusy and the crust was chewy - all served with a whipped cream that added nothing to the experience. Our plates were never cleared, it took a long time when we asked for something extra (napkins, dressing) and we never received a box for our leftover cornbread.
