The perfect post-Acadia meal! Fast service, cozy seafood family-run spot. Definitely a favorite and very memorable. Came at the end of the season in fall, and they were still going strong with heaters inside tents as well! At night, they had a large fire pit and lots of games and activities to play while munching on food. Food itself was scrumptious. Best blueberry pie and best ice cream i've ever had. Will be back in the summer and head to the ice cream store bc they already closed for the season. The lobster roll was not outright saucy, grilled cheese was packed with protein.

    Lobster Dinner for Two

Rating: 5/10 Date Last Visited: 8/17/2025 We ordered the Lobster Dinner for Two, Lobster Roll, Clam Chowder, and Blueberry Pie. The lobster itself was decent, but the lobster was a bit small and there wasn't much meat. The mussels and corn that came with the lobster was good. The lobster roll was pretty solid, but I thought the bagged potato chips were a bit lazy (would prefer homemade chips or fries). The clam chowder was good too, it was savory and I could really taste the clam flavor. The blueberry pie was decent but too sweet. Overall, this place is great if you're in the area and want a lobster meal, but it's a bit pricey for the taste and quantity.

Amazing place for all things lobster - the food was so delicious that we came here 3 times during our 4 days in the Bar Harbor area. You order at the counter, and food is brought to your table; all seating is outdoors, but there is a heated area when it was chilly even in the summer evening. We tried a variety of lobster preparations and the crab rolls. Sandwiches and rolls come with a side of chips and a pickle. Reviews of what we tried: - Crab roll: my favorite of everything we tried; the crab meat was so sweet and the dill mayo sauce is so good - Lobster melt: my husband tried this, cheesy and warm, good but he preferred the crab rolls - Lobster bake: we ordered a 2 person bake which was great for sharing - it comes with 2 lobsters, 1 lb of mussels, and 2 corn on the cobs; great first lobster bake experience and comes with instructions. The lobster meat was sweet and didn't even need the butter (the butter was a lovely addition) Highly recommend stopping by C-Ray Lobster if you're looking for delicious lobster and crab!

My favorite lobster roll we had during our Acadia trip! We came here for lunch and there was plenty of parking and seating. You order at the stand and then find a table and they will bring the food out to you. They also have plenty of outdoor space and games like corn hole and frisbee! Now only the food! The lobster was fresh and piled high. The standouts were the roll they used, their bread is house made and perfectly buttered and toasted (versus the hot dog buns many other places make). I also loved the house mayo they tossed the lobster in, had a bit of tartness to it and the perfect complement. Plus the lemon slice given adds a nice bit of acidity and makes the freshness pop. We also enjoyed the clam chowder which was chocked full of goodies like veggies and seafood. I was glad we got it right away and were able to have our soup while we waited for our order. The blueberry pie was the perfect way to end the meal. It was perfectly not too sweet, only wished we got some ice cream to go with it! Overall, this was my favorite spot for lobster rolls & I hope to be back!

Amazing crab roll tossed lightly in a chive mayo, crab is hand picked then place into a delicious brioche roll. Tried a new Maine Pilsner while I waited for food to go. They had a heated indoor area and a fire pit going close by with a few chairs. Awesome spot !

A nice overall experience. Like most outdoor lobster pounds, you walk up and order your food. In a few minutes a perfectly cooked lobster & corncob dinner arrives. What sets this apart is, you feel like you're at a friend's picnic. Tables are scattered around the manicured property, a fire pit with chairs surrounding it, a baggo board for an impromptu game after dinner. We had a bottle of wine in the car, no problem. All in all a nice, welcoming family run restaurant.

This place was pretty cool. The lobster rolls weren't the best lobster rolls you'll get in the area, but definitely better than average. It was super cold outside and we were worried we were gonna freeze in the dining area but we ended having to take our coats off while sitting down because it was so warm in there. Super cozy spot and very decent lobster rolls and service.

C-Ray Lobster is the real deal. This family-run business offers the best lobster dinner as well as other seafood treats from the local waters. Boiled in seawater, the lobsters are tender and succulent and the mussels, sweet and salty, needing no adornment at all. The family all works together to make the dinner an unforgettable experience. The lobster pound and pavilion are tucked behind the family home and the atmosphere is very welcoming. You feel like you are at a family picnic! Service is more than efficient. They seem to anticipate your every need. Great beverage options are available as well. For the quintessential lobster dinner, check out C-Ray's.

Eat where the locals eat! And this is the place! C-Ray Lobster in Bar Harbor is an absolute gem! The lobster is incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked, making it a must-try for seafood lovers. The casual outdoor seating adds to the charm, offering a relaxed, scenic spot to enjoy your meal. Don't miss the best blueberry pie I've ever had--went back and bought two more slices! The staff is friendly and welcoming, creating a wonderful, laid-back vibe. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Bar Harbor!

Best lobster roll on bar harbor

We have been on a lobster roll crawl during our visit to Maine. C-Rays is our 5th stop and has been THE BEST we have had. lobster meat to bread ratio is perfect, the side of lemon wedge and side of drawn butter is a great add that no other place has offered. I just left there and can't wait to go back for another before we leave the area. Service was great and the atmosphere was nice with cornhole boards for you to enjoy. 10 out of 10

Old school is the best school. This place makes lobster rolls, crab rolls, and clam chowder that people flock from all over the world to sit in peace by their real wood fire pits and eat in peace and enjoy the moments of their lives. You have to make the pilgrimage from Bar Harbor, past all the tourist traps and enter in a world that hasn't changed in decades. Enjoy the company of strangers there to relish life.

Cute little road side lobster place after you leave bar harbor proper. Lobster roll was filled with fresh tasty lobster but I do have to say I was a little taken back by the price. Thought lobster rolls were gonn be cheaper in New England, lol. Blueberry pie was great too and staff was friendly. Would def come back.

They get solid points because of their ambiance and their very friendly service! You go up to a little shack where they prepare all the food to order and then you have your choice of where to sit -- outside with several picnic tables, fire pits, or under a large roof with picnic tables. they convert it to "inside" with heaters and plastic covering if it's cold, rainy, and windy. It was so helpful to eat here when it was cold! Their food was fresh and good and we enjoyed it! They add more flavor and seasoning to their lobster roll that makes it stand out more.

This place serve fresh lobster but not only that they also offer a cajun seafood as well. There is small parking available beside the shack. They offer variety of seafood including lobster roll, lobster dinner, mussels, clams, shrimps, cajun boil and blueberry pie. We decided to get the classic lobster dinner with two lobster. I decided to go for the biggest 1.5lb+. and we got a side of blueberry pie. They take the live lobster out of the water tank and weigh it in front of us which was nice. They then cook it right outside. We waited about 15minutes or so and the owner brought the lobster dinner out of us. It' 2 huge lobsters and 2 fresh corns, and mussels. They also give you lobster aprons, butter, cajun seasoning, de-shelling tool, and a paper with instructions as well. They do offer some condiments and hot sauces which you can grab as needed. We got prepared with apron and started digging into our lobster. We devoured every meat we can find in the lobster. It was plump and sweet and seasoned well with salt. Tasted delicious even without any butter or seasoning. We tried them with seasoning for some change of flavor but it's not necessary. My personal favorite was claw meat for sure. Tail meat was good but it was bit bouncy. Mussels and corns were delicious as well. The owner brought the blueberry pie at the end for us. It was sweet, tart and crunchy around the pie crust. I enjoyed it even though i've never been a huge fan of blueberry pie in general. Service was excellent. They cook the fresh lobster there right on the spot before you eat. Owner was very nice and friendly and checked in on us periodically. Overall the place was excellent and definitely a top spot for maine lobster. Compared to other place nearby it was 't that busy either. I think that this may be the best lobster i've had ever. Only down side is that it's in a bushy area so there were quite a bit of bugs flying around. They do have bug spray as well so definitely protect yourself if you are eating at the table there. Definitely a must stop for Maine lobster if you are in Acadia area. May have try the cajun version next time visiting.

I questioned why the steamers did not come with hot water to dip the clams to get shake out sand and grit. The cook said she "will get some but these steamers are clean." She was right. Only melted hot butter was needed (no need to water down your clams and loose flavor). Once I finished 2 dozen, I asked about the butter still being so clear and not coagulating. "We only use Cabot salted butter slowly melted." It made a world of difference in taste. Had so much butter left that I ordered another dozen!! My wife ordered the halibut burger. Another hit!! A big piece of fish lightly battered. The owner said it is a new addition to the menu, I am sure it's going to remain for a very long time. To top it off, the service was fantastic. Our order was taken by the owner's granddaughter and she just lovely. I went back to the counter to tell her how great the food was when I noticed blueberry pie slices for sale. I asked how the slices are and her face just lit up when she said "it's amazing." I ordered an entire pie!! She was sooo right and dare I say one of, if not the, best blueberry pie I had in Maine so far!! We came back the next day to try the lobster rolls. We have been in Bar Harbor for 5 days and tried lobster rolls at several recommended places in town and at some of the "pounds". All of which were expensive and small portions. Not here!! The Happy Clam Shack was less expensive for more lobster and better tasting!! I really enjoyed the sweet tasting coleslaw that came with the meal. We also ordered a dozen steamers!! Highly recommend this place. I only wish I knew about this place sooner so I could have try everything else on the menu (I hear the fry clams are great, but we ran out of days). 10 out of 10

It was all amazing. Best lobster dinner I've had up here, and we've been coming to Maine for 14 years. The folks working here are all so attentive, kind, going above and beyond. Example - I don't care for the stuff in the body that you sometimes get with super fresh lobsters. Apparently this is a delicacy, but this Southern girl says no thanks. I asked if they would mind giving it a little dip to clean it out once broken. No rolled eyes, no hesitation, just absolutely YES. They cleaned it out, split it open and returned it to our table in a fresh boat. WOW! The lobsters were cooked to perfection. So tender, so juicy, so very fresh. The corn was crisp and amazing. Cole slaw is not usually my jam but their version was delicious! We cleaned our plates. The crab roll had tons of crab - super sweet and amazing. Clam chowder was the perfect balance of creamy broth, clams (so tender), and potatoes. We were already planning our next trip before we left the first time.
