Small Bbq Chicken - Thin Crust Pizza
JoAnne K.

I've had Celiac for 15 years, so I've tried my share of gluten free pizzas. We live in CT but come to Ellsworth to visit a couple times a year. Pats Pizza in Ellsworth has the best GF pizza. Hands down. My daughter and I went to Pats on. Wednesday night and it was packed. We got the last booth and our waitress came by right away. We started with the GF Gallic bread with cheese. It's made on the GF pizza crust so it looks like a cheese pizza without the red sauce. It was cheesy and delicious. We both had small Garden salads The salads are nothing exciting, but I always enjoy them. I had the GF BBQ pizza. It was well cooked, full to the edges with chicken and cheese. Sooo good. My daughter had a small BBQ pizza, not gluten-free. Hers was excellent as well.

The excessive charges

Let's start with how fast we were approached by our server. Got our drinks and order taken. It was ALL DOWNHILL FROM THERE. 50 min later we seek out our server to get our order to go. My friends are locals, I needed to get on the road home. DO YOU SEE THE BILL?! Holy hell. First, if the server asks if you want chips, tots or fries with your sandwich that was ordered...one would think it comes with it. NOPE. Extra charge. WASNT TOLD. My friend orders a salad, extra charge for type of lettuce, THEY CHARGED TO CHOP IT how else is she supposed to eat it?! Not told! My pizza was cold like it had been sitting around for a while. Shady shady practices. I'll plan to visit my friends again but this establishment will never get my business again, on top of the locals they lost‍

We visited here and the service was great. We ordered the large chefs salad and the all meat pizza. Both were great. I would certainly recommend that you visit this business. The interior had a large amount of seating.

This was the smallest and most greasy pizza I've ever had. We decided to try this place because they have multiple locations and are supposed to be a Maine staple. My mom and I went on a Sunday afternoon. The server was lovely. Friendly and attentive. The options for pizza were small and large. We opted for a small. Then we saw the server bring out 2 pizzas for a table nearby. The small was the size of a Pizza Hut personal pan pizza (remember those from the 90's?!), and the large was the size of a regular large pizza at any pizza place. There was $4 difference between the sizes. I hadn't seen a personal pizza on the menu... A few minutes later we received our pizza and it was in fact the size of a personal pizza. Like it was SO small! We had to laugh because it was ridiculous. On to the actual pie... it was so greasy. The cheese was greasy. The dough was greasy. It was literally dripping off the pizza. The taste of the pizza was...greasy. I don't know how else to explain it. I felt yucky eating it. But we were hungry and there, so we did our best to eat enough to not be hungry, but not so much that we would actually get sick. I should mention that I love Greek style pizza, which is buttery and a bit greasy. It's my favorite. But I also love good NY pizza, and wood fired as well. I love deep dish Chicago as well- I love most pizza! So the fact that I could barely get this down really says something. It was bad. Please see pics for the pizza we had and also the smallest slice I have ever seen in my life! I gave this 2 stars because the service was very good.

When I think of pizza, I immediately think of Pats. This restaurant is associated with the famous, in Maine!, Pats Pizza in Orono. However each restaurant is locally owned. This was my first visit to the Ellsworth location and it didn't disappoint. Very nice greeting upon entering the dining room and we were quickly seated in a booth. Server was right over for a drink order. The vibe of the place is old school pizza place. Very comfortable, well worn with many locals of all ages meeting friends for lunch. The pizzas are designed to be personal so everyone gets their own pie. The sauce is perfect, not too sweet, not too tomato'y. I had the meatball sub and it was very good. My sister loves the Gluten Free pizzas, she can't wait to get to Pats after her drive from CT. Sometimes I wonder if she is coming to see me or is she really coming to Maine for the pizza?

Poor boy sub

Poor quality food, went for lunch on the way home from Arcadia National Park. I got a sub, should have known better. Seemed like all locals. Sub was 2 slices of ham & cheese & a couple slices of tomato. Yuck! Find someplace else!

Years ago, we visited Connecticut and tried Pepe's pizza. There was also a Pat's there but we didn't get a chance to try it then. So here we are in Maine trying Pat's pizza. It's good but not the best pizza in the world like Pepe's. We had broccoli, mushrooms, tomatoes and sweet sausage. The crust was thin but not crispy like a coal fired oven. Our server was nice but very busy. Good, solid pizza.

Cardiac Arrest Calzone. I didn't die, but I did go to food heaven.
Tony B.

On a family vacation, we stopped in for lunch and I ordered the Cardiac Arrest calzone. My first impression was that it looked greasy and doughy, I was wrong. It was buttery, garlicy, and flaky crust, generously filled with all of the good meats. 10/10.

Pizza was undercooked. A lot. I'm from NY, so perhaps biased with respect to pizza, but this stuff wasn't very good.

Microwaved thin crust pizza cooked in the oven. It takes a lot to get a bad pizza review but that sorry excuse for a pie is not a pizza

The pizza is excellent. You should try it you'll love it. My favourite one is the chicken barbecue pizza with some onions on top.

Service and food was good. Known for good pizza and lasagna. Did not go to bar side. The only down side was the outdated booths.

My cocktail (I forget the name, but something with pineapple rum) was very good too. Our entrees were good as well. The chicken with a truffle cream sauce was very well done. I had the rigatoni with short rib, and enjoyed it, although I'll try something else next time. The chocolate torte for dessert was small, but very, very good. Service was friendly, helpful, and efficient. Ambiance is not fancy, but modern and comfortable. I appreciated the lounge / house music in the background... audible enough to set the vibe, but very easy to have a conversation over. The need to give credit card information to make a reservation had dissuaded me from trying Provender in the past, but now I'm kicking myself for not coming sooner. I am eagerly looking forward to my next visit.

If it was served with crusty bread instead of a thick slice of toasted bread, it would have been perfect. The nachos were unique and delicious with generous toppings and ahi tuna... also could have been a meal by itself... chef's kiss to those two items! Our entrees were a dish called Gnudi- which if you don't know what they are(we didn't and when we looked it up, it said it is similar to gnocchi- IT ISN'T!!!) ask before you order, if you've never had it, it's very unique and we didn't care for it at all... there was no recourse given by the restaurant... make sure you know what it is!! Our other entree was rigatoni that was topped with ricotta and short rib sauce, shredded cheese... it was tasty, but very pricey for a bowl of pasta... To make a reservation, you need to give a credit card and if you don't show up, your card is charged $25 per person. The service was friendly until we didn't like the Gnudi... then it was a little weird... It was fine, but not exceptional... Cold bottles of water are given to the table and refreshed as necessary. The restroom is not kept up, could use shine attention, a little elbow grease to clean it. They are on Facebook and offer specials on their burgers.

Madison our server was friendly, attentive and helpful throughout our meal. The restaraunt offers both indoor and outdoor seating. We had the restaurant to ourselves initially so I cannot speak for the acoustics but overall Porcelli's offers a nice atmosphere for dinner. My family of four were eager to enjoy an Italian meal after days of traditional New England style meals. We began with the Strawberry & Burrata Salad and the Polpetti (meatballs with polenta). The starters were okay but the stars of the show came next. Our boys each enjoyed the halibut served with risotto. My husband had the Cacio e Pepe. He said it was as good as any he had while in Rome. I had the Gnocchi Mushroom Ragu. It was one of the top Gnocchi dishes I have had the pleasure of enjoying. Our ten year old son said it was the best gnocchi he has ever had. The texture of the gnocchi and the flavors of the sauce made for a flawless dish. The chef makes all pastas in-house and you can tell. The pasta dishes are exceptional! The entree portions are generous so you won't mind sharing a bite or two with your dining companions. I only wish we would have discovered this gem earlier in our trip. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Porcelli's.
