I love when a shop does slices. We popped in after a hike at Acadia, there were four choices for slices available, we went simple with cheese and pepperoni. While they were on the oven we grabbed a drink from the cooler and a seat. The pizza was good- chewy crust, bottom had integrity, not too greasy, simple ingredients. Would definitely get a full pie next time we are in town. The staff were super friendly, prepared for a busy Saturday night- but they were only a few of us there at 6pm. Ellsworth needs to keep this place in biz. We will be back in the fall! read more

Excellent pizza. We enjoy it often. Tried steak and cheese subs for the first time. Very disappointed. We'll stick with the pizzas. The people behind the counter are friendly and busy. It's fun watching them put the press together. Comfortable enough for a pizza place. Interesting stuff on the wall. There's even a game room that doesn't seem to get much use. read more

Finelli's Pizza has the best thin crust pizza in the Ellsworth area by far. Their pizza by the slice is very reasonable and its a nice atmosphere inside to enjoy a quick slice at lunch time. My daughter particularly likes that there is a game room, and on our last visit we met the owner or manager (not sure which) who was stocking up things in the game room in anticipation of taking some time off for the birth of his first child. Really nice guy. We ordered a bunch of pizzas for my daughters birthday party in March as well and the order was to be ready shortly after their opening time. Everything was flawless. read more

My mom and I stopped here for a quick bite while in Ellsworth. We both had a slice of pizza- spinach, garlic, ricotta, and a hard cider. The pizza slice was excellent! It was so cheesy and garlicky. We were both surprised how good it was. The draft cider was also great and a good price at $4.50. read more

This is supposed to be the best pizza in Maine? Yikes. I should have known that any place who uses Doordash to deliver their food does not care about their delivery quality, so that's probably my fault. If they had made it clear on their website that that's how they do their deliveries I wouldn't have ordered. Way too many mushrooms on the pie I received, and the moisture inside the mushrooms caused it to be a soppy soggy mess. It was falling apart even when I folded it. Not very appetizing. The crust was pretty good though. It was the only thing somewhat enjoyable about this pie. The garlic knots were tiny, burned, and hard as a rock. They may have actually cat turds, now that I think about it. Just plain awful, and not even very garlicky at all. To top it all off I wanted some extra sauces for my wife and daughter to dip (they're dippers), which didn't come with the order, as well as a soda for my pregnant wife. We still got charged for them of course and if I wanted a refund I'd need to sot on the phone with Doordash. No thanks, I guess you can keep my $6. You win again Doordash. read more

Wow ... where do I start... I'll begin with the owners bad additude . He was snarky, rude ... HE messed up - first the beer order then he totally messed up the sandwich order... there was barely any meat on the steak and cheese sandwich literry like 2 small pieces . I asked for more meat and he put slices of bread in the sandwich to make it look thicker.. omg.....like I'm an idiot ... He wouldn't last a week in NJ or NY . Best slice in Downeast. Bianca pizza is a winner. The pepperoni you can't go wrong and their assorted slices are all excellent. The dough doesn't lack any crisp and is paper thin. A place worth stopping to checkout. If buying a pizza, make sure to get a large, you'll wish you did after you take a bite. read more

Let me explain why I'm giving this place 2 stars. The employees were friendly and the service was quick. But we also just ordered an uncomplicated pepperoni pizza and two 20 ounce pops. The pizza taste was literally mediocre. There was nothing really noteworthy about the pizza itself. The crust seemed weird and overall the food was pretty boring. Now, the food might have seemed more enjoyable except that the ambiance took away from the experience. Though many other reviewers have commented about how special the architecture appeared, the actual concern was how filthy the walls were. The inside of the restaurant needs a major cleaning and repainting. After visiting the bathrooms I pretty much lost my appetite. This pizza place has been given a lot of praise for a disappointing product. I would not recommend eating here. read more

I was staying in Ellsworth for a few days on business and felt like getting something quick and close to my hotel so I decided to check out Finelli. I walked in and was considering ordering a hot sandwich but was informed they were only serving pizza at that point in the day, 7 pm? I didn't understand why since it didn't seem very busy to me but I would be having pizza. I checked out the slices and opted to order a fresh pizza for myself. I sat down and waited and it took awhile from my perspective as it wasn't that busy. I'm from southern Connecticut and am used to waiting for pizza in places doing 20 times the business this place does and getting a pizza in about the same time or less. When my pizza came out it was nice and hot and it actually had a halfway decent crust. BUT there were areas of the pizza with no sauce and areas with a bunch of sausage and others with none. The sauce and toppings weren't evenly distributed and the pizza was sloppy. The sauce wasn't great and the sausage was tasteless. Since I was raised on great pizza I'm spoiled but this isn't anything close to what I know pizza to be and it's definitely not like New York pizza. I guess they can get away with calling it NY style in Maine. It's better than Pizza Hut and some of the greasy garbage they call pizza in Maine. read more

So the changes under new management and/or ownership continue... Stopped in for a pie to go. On a weekday night and not too busy, it was a 25 minute wait. No problem. Downeast operates at a different speed. However a large 1/2 pepperoni set me back more than $20 which is quite a bit more than I pay in the Philadelphia suburbs. Still a decent pie, unlike the Bianca which has been downgraded. When you check out on the iPad, and get to the tipping page, it appears that you have no choice but to leave a tip for takeout. Look closely at the screen because the MUCH lighter appearing options of "custom" and "no tip" are there but almost invisible. This seems very shady. I don't mind tipping. I mind when there is no option as to how much I get to tip. read more

Good luck. Wasn't greeted upon coming in. Stood there for twelve minutes around 4 other people who had no idea what was going on either and no clue where to form a line. Just left. We got 2 pizzas and cheese sticks. The pizzas are really large. I got a medium, and I'd consider it a large. The crust was perfectly cooked - not at all burned. I forget the name of mine but it was a spicy BBQ chicken pizza. I love BBQ chicken pizza, but all too often the chicken is dried out. Not here! The chicken was still perfectly moist. No complaints. Absolutely the best pie since my college days down in Southern Connecticut. Flavor was great and the employee's were terrific, it's too bad it is two hours away. So happy to find a great pie place open after 9:30 p.m.. We'll definitely hit this place again when we are back in the Ellsworth area this summer. read more

Been stopping here for years. They had great pizza and meatball subs. Went today, meatballs were dry and charred( they apologized and said they were frozen). Sauce was tasteless and scant. Roll was dried up and soaked in grease. So disappointed. They offered to remake, we took a pizza to go which ended up being just as tasteless and pathetic. The room was filled with greasy smoke. So sad it has gone so downhill. I hope they turn around and get back to what they used to be. read more

Pre pandemic this was my favorite pizza place. After struggling thru the pandemic, they are now open under new management. Upon entering I could see the atmosphere had declined. The two young men who were working albeit grungy, were friendly. I grabbed a slice of Bianca, there was no longer garlic powder or crushed red pepper available on counter or tables. Once in my car after a close up look at my slice, I decided not to eat it. It looked as if there was either alot of pepper, or just crumby char from a dirty pizza oven. After driving by Finelli's for many years we finally decided to give them a try. We almost didn't stop because the parking lot is small and was packed. It's a small place, not fancy and no A/C, and it was hot in there! It was definitely worth it because the pizza was excellent. I love a good thin crust pizza that has some crunch to it. We have been regular local customer's since 2012. Have mostly loved their pies. Husband raised in NJ, and I, on Long Island, NY. We know good NY style pizza. The Bianca and the Bohemian are our favorites. Maybe yesterday was an "off day", but, this is not acceptable. Someone we never saw making a pizza previously, an older man, is doing our favorite pizza joint a huge disservice. All of the previous pizza maker's have been making fantastic pies. The pizza we had yesterday was terrible!! The Bianca had no garlic or black pepper, tiny amounts of ricotta, mozzarella and spinach. The crust was like a cracker and the toppings were about 1.5 to 2" from the crust edge! We like to take out of town visitors here to show them we too have NY pizza. Not sure we will after this terrible experience. IF we go again, we will walk out if this man is the pizza maker. Not sure what happened... read more

I checked my carry out pizza while still in the restaurant and they got the order wrong. I told them we ordered half cheese and half pepperoni/banana peppers, and they gave me half pepperoni half banana peppers, and my daughter doesn't like toppings. I just got a blank stare, so I said I know we're ordered half cheese as I was right there when my wife called the order in. Again a blank stare, no offer to give me any cheese slices, no offer to refund me, nothing. So now I'm furious and as I left said I'll make sure to post a review. Everyone makes mistakes, understood, but Finelli doesn't take responsibility for their mistakes and doesn't offers to make it up to the customer...won't be wasting money on Finelli again. read more
