When the pneumatic height adjustment finally gave out on my last chair (after 15 years!), I gave serious thought to investing in Herman Miller's Aeron chair. When the chair went on sale, I went into DWR to sit in the chair, see how it felt and play with the adjustments. The saleswoman who helped me seemed nice enough at the start and was able to answer many of my questions. Then, I told her I have an Eames desk and would like to roll the chair over to one so I could see if the chair could be adjusted high enough to allow me to comfortably work with my keyboard on the desk's surface. The woman had no idea what desk I was talking about, and when I tried to describe it to her, she told me I don't have an Eames desk and took me over to a different desk and said that's the desk I have. Uh, no it isn't. We went back and forth on this until I convinced her to look up my desk on her computer. When she found it, she said they don't have it in the store and offered no apology for her rudeness. We then focused on the chair, she took me through the different adjustments, it was everything I wanted and needed, we proceeded with the sale, she walked me through the next steps, and that was that. Overall, this chair has been a great investment. It's everything I needed and wanted, and I was very happy to get it on sale for 20% off. I was also very happy to walk out of the store and leave that saleswoman behind.

I wanted to see my short-listed fans up-close and in-person and ask questions and get answers from knowledgeable people, rather than deal with a website chat box. Adam helped me, and he was TERRIFIC. Warm, friendly, so personable, knowledgeable, patient and very easy to talk with and work with. The fan I wanted was on back-order -- not just at Black Whale but pretty much everywhere -- and wouldn't ship for at least a couple of months. The fan is pricey (I view it as an investment) and instead of having to pay in full upfront for a fan that I would not receive for months, Adam was so kind as to allow me to pay 50% upfront, with the balance to be paid when the fan arrived. I really appreciated that. Adam was not there on the day, months later, when I went in to pick up the fan, but the woman who helped me (I think her name was Sandy) was also super-nice and friendly and loaded the boxes into my car for me. Initially planning to check out one store ended up being 2 separate stores with the same name. The smaller store had so many nice items. There were figurines, artwork, dishes, A LOT of various glassware and more. And the prices were also good. The larger store was huge. This is where they have bigger household items. SO many different couches, chairs, dining tables, decorative rugs, etc. What I loved about these stores is that they were organized, clean, and have quality products for a good price. There's not much interaction with the employees at these places. The only one was at the smaller store when I paid for a purchase. Overall, good places for unique home decor.

First of all, not only will Ethan Allen not pick up your old furniture, you cannot even pay extra to have it picked up. They do charge for delivery even though the cost of the furniture should cover this and there is no removal of old furniture. They deliver the furniture one piece at a time rather than waiting until everything is done and deliver it all at once, therefore leaving the customer with the old furniture sitting around the house so we would only have to pay another company one time instead of two or three to remove it. As far as scheduling delivery, they are very inconsiderate and WILL NOT work with you on a schedule, only what is convenient for them. Their attitude about any issue is "too bad" that's the way we do it. i would never purchase anything from them again.
