I am giving two stars ONLY because we are happy with the furniture quality to this point. The customer service at the San Marcos location is horrible. first I will say that when you pay over $12,000 for two recliners and a loveseat, you should also receive a great customer satisfaction experience. we received anything but. First of all, not only will Ethan Allen not pick up your old furniture, you cannot even pay extra to have it picked up. They do charge for delivery even though the cost of the furniture should cover this and there is no removal of old furniture. They deliver the furniture one piece at a time rather than waiting until everything is done and deliver it all at once, therefore leaving the customer with the old furniture sitting around the house so we would only have to pay another company one time instead of two or three to remove it. As far as scheduling delivery, they are very inconsiderate and WILL NOT work with you on a schedule, only what is convenient for them. Their attitude about any issue is "too bad" that's the way we do it. i would never purchase anything from them again. read more

I worked with Elizabeth Sansom purely by phone because I was refurnishing my second home bedroom from another state. After picking my selections off the website, she was so helpful in helping me choose fabric and finishes and a great computer rendering of how my room would look. Delivery was easily scheduled to the time I would be in town to receive my furniture. It arrived yesterday and the delivery guys were so helpful and quick in setting up the furniture and even suggesting placement, that I was really impressed. It was truly hands on service. We purchased a floor model couch from Ethan Allen in San Diego. It was recommended by the sales person that we purchase an extended warranty, which we did. After about three months, the back cushions started to collapse and lose their form. We contacted the extended warranty company who told us they do not cover the back cushions. We reached out to Jeffrey the manager at Ethan Allen. He told us that we have no rights because the couch was as is. When we purchased the couch, everything was fine. There were no issues. No signs of issues or cushion failure. How could we possibly know that was gonna happen? They did not disclose that to us when we purchased the couch. I feel we are being scammed with this. Now they came back and told us they'll replace the cushions for $160 each. The quality of Ethan Allen has gone down drastically and their customer service is next to nothing. Stay away from the extended warranties And stay away from Ethan Allen. I've been a customer for over 30 years, but we'll no longer buy it to Ethan Allen. read more

I have a very strange shaped family room, in which we use every day! About 20 years ago I bought Ethan Allen to help furnish it. Very happy with original furniture ! I went back two years ago, to help replace it. They do not make sofa or 11/2 chairs that would fit my room. With the designer guidance we recovered through Ethan Allen all the furniture I also bought a new rug and a leather ottoman! The cost was no different than buying brand new . I was assured the material would be the best for my family The workmanship was excellent the fabric is so unacceptable. I did not buy the extended warranty. In the year my mother got sick and Died in Canada and I did not have time to follow up on wear and stains on the couch. The fabric has worn terribly, it stained , it attracts dirt and after a year my original couch 20 years old fabric looked better than it does. I do cover and vacuum frequently. I've had them professionally cleaned ! I'm beyond disappointed Ethan Allen will do nothing , thru do not stand behind their product. Earlier this year my fiance Iman and I decided to go look at some furniture. In all honesty, we had zero plans to purchase anything but just wanted to see what was available in the San Marcos showroom. And then we met Nikki Brouillette. She was patient and incredibly helpful with every question we asked. Iman and I both have different styles but somehow Nikki was able to help us pick stuff where we both felt satisfied. This in turn resulted in us going from intending to spend zero dollars to, spending somewhere in the ballpark of 30,000 along with an entire home remodel (paint/floors/electrical). Which is 100% thanks to the dedication and knowledge that Nikki contributed to the process. And once the furniture was delivered, the interior design vision she painted for us on her computer came to life. Like Cinderella, but with amazing furniture and design instead of some weird pumpkin carriage. One star is way too high given the current issue my family is dealing with. For starters my home is basically an Ethan Allen showroom. We have purchased tens of thousands of dollars over the years from this location and have remained loyal, but what happened this past week is from a horror story. It started when the delivery branch came to my home and in the first few seconds made racially disparaging comments to my wife. Imagine buying furniture from a high end retailer, spending a good sum of money, patiently waiting two months and then on the exciting "big day" when items are to be delivered, you are verbally abused!! This has been our experience thus far. A woman alone with small children being racially slurred at the door!! What the???!! Being made to feel this way is completely unacceptable and appalling in this world. Should I add that the item was damaged, unfinished (as if they forgot to complete the build) and unusable? What happened to EA??!!?? Fast forward 48 hours of countless calls to customer service and being handed around while the store, distribution and a customer service center all do very little outside of blame the other party and offer poor apologies, we have no timeline for replacement or resolution. I personally do NOT feel that the customer is "always right" , but this is so far out of bounds that I'm stunned. We all make mistakes and as a company, it's how you handle issues that defines your legacy. Maybe this will have a good ending. We hired Ethan Allen to design our courtyard furniture and vibe, and we so luckily received was designer, Nikki Brouillette! We had a small vision that Nikki was able to turn into a grand reality because of her thoughtfulness, direction, and after taking the time to get to know us, she knew the vibe that would suit us best. Nikki helped us sort through so many painters and colors, Nikki came to our house to see the space and measure ever single angle of the space so the furniture would truly be custom to our space, and she even went the extra mile to view a few other pieces we bought separately to ensure it would look great. This was my first Ethan Allen experience and because of Nikki, I"ll always go back. Our new courtyard is now our favorite place of the house, where we entertain, watch movies, wine with friends, dinner with the family, and just relax at the end of the day. Also, the furniture delivery was right on time as they said it would be, the delivery crews were so nice, fast, and efficient. The entire experience was great! I loved the service as well as the selection here, they are really the only store on Furniture Row that carry quality and the style of furniture that I like. Prices are high, but they have a clearance section in the back with great deals where I found a beautiful chandelier for a great price. They wrapped it up nicely for me and brought it out to the car for easy loading. Worth a stop when you need something for your home! read more

This is a pretty huge Ethan Allen. It's way the heck out in San Marcos, off the 78. But it's worth it if you're seriously looking for furniture. The prices are up there, but the construction, fabrics and styles are pretty good. The only big huge bummer is how long it takes. Usually 6-8 weeks. Even takes 3 weeks just to get a delivery of a floor sample. One of the benefits is that they have good displays, with entire rooms of furniture so you can see how they go together. For the most part, the stuff they have is best suited for your grandmother's Beverly Hills mansion. But if you look around, you'll probably find something that appeals to you. Found a great dining room table I'm thinking of getting. I happened to mention to Virginia Foley, the person who was helping me, that I was picking out paint colors and she spent 1/2 hour with me going through paint color books. Asked if she would do a color consultation but she said they only do that when you need to coordinate with stuff you're buying at Ethan Allen.Good parking. read more

Don't ever use this company! My husband and I went in on 6/4 looking for a rug. We were helped by Bridget who got us checked out with a sample that we could take home to test in our room. When she checked it out for us the rug showed in the computer as in stock. We went straight home, decided we liked the sample, and went right back to order the rug. When Bridget entered the order the rug now showed up as out of stock, but Bridget said she'd see what she could do and get right back to us, so we put down a deposit and figured we'd hear back from her in a few days. After about 2 weeks, we still hadn't heard back and there was a $998 charge on my credit card! I called and the lady I spoke with said Bridget wasn't there she'd have her get back to me . Again no response. After about a week I called again and spoke with another woman who looked and said it was on back order, I said I figured that but Bridget said she'd see what she could do and I just need to know when the ETA was. Again no call back. I called again about a week later and spoke with someone who said that she was the first person I talked to and she said that someone was supposed to have called me back from that call. I told her nobody called me back and that I was very upset that Bridget had never communicated with us after that first day. She said the rug was on back order, but the rug pad should be arriving the next week. When I pressed her for a date she finally said it was "probably" going to be November. I know there are supply chain issues, but I was mad because if they had just told me this from the beginning I would have known what to expect. Also, they had jerked me around so much, I didn't even trust that I'd be getting a rug in November, so I said at this point I wanted to cancel the entire order, to which she said that we had signed a contract with them that had. 72-hour cancellation clause that we were well past. That really set me off, to which I said the contract also said that they'd be ordering me a rug! She said she'd have to get approval from management and would get back to me. Again no call back, but at least about a week later, a refund receipt arrived in the mail. I suspect they were never able to order the rug and didn't want to tell me. I understand all of the supply issues right now, but my low rating is mostly based on Ethan Allen's lack of communication and professionalism in this process. Never again will I use them. read more

I love the green couch! I sat on my recliner as soon as it was placed back in my LR and didn't want to get up again. The Alldrich media cabinet with its gold trim looks amazing and I'm so happy that you suggested it. It's just what I needed under the television. mired in the master suite phase of our never-ending home remodeling project, we needed the expertise of the rug expert from the ETHAN ALLEN design center for a bit of floor covering that would, in a timeless musing borrowed from THE BIG LEBOWSKI, "tie the room together" ... ignoring her sage advice, we spent more than we should have for a size and design we won't care two shakes about after the dogs and kids wreck it during the slow but steady migration of the outside-the house to the inside-the-house (for some mostly indiscernible reason the slider in the master is a major thruway) -- our bad. the delivery guys called and confirmed delivery appointment​, showed up on time, did a great job "installing" our rug and cleaned up their mess when they were done. in every phase, dealing with ETHAN ALLEN was a good experience. read more

I've been meaning to write this review for at least two years but after another visit to Ethan Allen and their amazing designer Adele, I figured it was time. My wife and I decided to buy new furniture for our dining room some time back and went into Ethan Allen to look. We were approached by Adele who led us through the process of picking out some beautiful yet eclectic items that turned our dining room from "grandma's" to a modern look. From there on it was one thing after another, including artwork for the dining and living room. Shortly thereafter we had a complete kitchen remodel and upon completion, once again used Adele's incredible style to pick bar stools that matched. After that we asked her to help us with our family room that had cheap lighting and tables. It's been over a year since we saw her but after deciding our family room sofa and recliner chairs had to go we paid a visit this past weekend. We'd pretty much decided on what design sofas we wanted but Adele took the time to walk us through the showroom to see if there might be other options. We stuck with our original plan but once again, Adele provided outstanding design taste to help us with fabrics. She has come to our home on more than one occasion to personally see what our color plan was and to get a feel for our overall tastes. She is the consummate professional and not once was there ever a hint of trying to up sell or push us in a direction we were reluctant to go in. Obviously, Ethan Allen is on the higher end of the price spectrum but the quality of everything we've purchased is amazing and the help we received from Adele has been invaluable. read more

Sadly, I spent thousands of dollars on an Ethan Allen couch and recliner. The recliner leather color has worn off in areas, the cushion has been lop sided since after the first week and all the cushions have been replaced with no improvement. The couch fabric picks up colors from people clothes, the cushions needed to be replaced, even though I turn and move them frequently. For two thousand dollars more I could have had quality furniture that would endure for years. There are only two of us living in our household and we have no pets! After over two years, I am replacing these pieces with Italian leather so that I can sit comfortably in my living room. The San Marcos Ethan Allen representative could only apologize. This was a very expensive lesson in furniture shopping. It would have been best to purchase this style furniture at Jeromes, Ashley or Macys. At least you get what you pay for, maybe even better! read more

While I have had some mixed experiences at this Ethan Allen over the years, I can say that my most recent acquisition (a beautiful custom leather chair) has left me very happy. Yes some of the folks who work here can be a little snooty (for no good reason and you know who you are), but Josh was fantastic! No pressure, worked hard to help me find what I wanted, and diddn't follow me around like a bouncer or lost puppy while I was browsing. Knew the company's product line well and was able to anticipate my questions and needs. Even had the class to deliver a followup call after the chair was delivered-which more businesses should do. My only problem with the transaction was the delivery time. I don't mind waiting for something of quality to be made from scratch, but this particular chair seemed to take a little longer then expected-about 4 months give or take. Not a big deal for me but it is still twice as long as I have waited for other customized furniture. All in all? Very happy, and Josh has singlehandedly convinced me to give Ethan Allen another shot next time we need something. Give that guy a raise! read more

Keep in mind that Ethan Allen furniture IS expensive, so don't be surprised when the bill is at least 10k for a sofa. The thing about Ethan Allen furniture, though, is that it is QUALITY. This is stuff that will be lasting you for years and years, so the price is typically worth it. They also provide you a bunch of different options to customize the furniture to your liking and to the aesthetic of your house - definitely a bonus! I went here with my MIL and husband a few weeks ago and we had a great time. We had started off with other furniture stores (Ashley, etc) and weren't too interested in what they had to offer. The moment we went inside Ethan Allen, we knew we had a much better chance of finding what we were looking for. Just want to start off and say that while everyone who works at this location is polite, you can definitely feel a sense of snobbiness here. To be expected, but kind of a damper when they treat you like you're a peasant because you're bummin' it. LOL. The designer we worked with (Debbie) was incredibly friendly and gave great advice on choices we were looking at. She let us steer the conversation, but would give us her .02 when we asked. We were planning on purchasing a sectional with Ethan Allen (it would have been perfect with our house, the choices we chose were great!) and were ready to drop 10k+, but once she came out to measure the space it would be in, we quickly realized that the size we wanted would just not fit. This meant that we would have to downsize or push the sectional up against the wall, etc etc. Just a bunch of stuff we did NOT want to do. This, mixed in with a bunch of other things (worrying about guests treating the furniture right, etc.), had us pull back and go back to square one. We ended up backing out for now. Debbie was totally understanding and didn't push us on reconsidering, a great bonus. We'll be coming back to EA in the future when we work out the kinks of what we're looking for and what we want. My wife and I have always gone to Ethan Allen for all of our furniture purchases. We love the quality of the furniture there and the designers have always been excellent. We recently decided to buy new couches for our family room to replace our old Ethan Allen sectionals. We stopped in at the San Marcos store and told them that years ago we had had two previous couches from there that we loved. We loved them because they had the really soft seat cushions that you sink in to. (We no longer have these couches as we gave them to our daughter years ago.) We told them the sectionals that we currently have did not have that soft cushion feel where you sink in to the seats and that was our top priority in making this move to new couches. They told us we could get that feel if we custom ordered and specified feather stuffing on the order, so we did. We then waited 10 weeks for the new couches to arrive. When the new couches arrived we were disappointed to find that the seat cushions did not have the soft feather stuffing that we wanted. The cushions were harder and stiffer than our sectional couch that we just gave away. We informed Ethan Allen of our dissatisfaction with the cushions. They contacted the factory and had new cushions built that were softer and more plush. The new plush cushions were delivered to our house two weeks later and they are fantastic! We are now bigger fans than ever and will be back for additional furniture purchases in the future. Thank you Ethan Allen. read more

Nikki helped us decide on two swivel chairs for our family room. I saw the fabric that I wanted on a sample chair in their showroom. It was an easy decision for me. My husband, a bit skeptical, went along with my choice and now really loves the dandelion chairs in our room. Nikki suggested having a pillow made for the grey sofa that we had. It's the perfect tie in to make the room pull together. She made the entire purchase effortless. The chairs even arrived early with two very helpful delivery men who placed them just where they were meant to be. The quality has changed over the years. The construction is disappointing and the service is not what one would expect in this kind store. I've purchased 2 sofas and one chair and ottoman. I also purchased bedding, throw pillows, and throws. The pillows are not stuffed fully and deflate quickly. It's also difficult to reach anyone by phone. read more

Ethan Allen does put out a nice product. I stopped in, I am on the prowl for a peacock blue sofa. I have an aqua sofa from Living Spaces that is a complete piece of crap, I have had it for about 3 years and it looks awful. You DO get what you pay for, when it comes to furniture. I knew this was a deal too good to be true, for the price, I did not really expect to to last forever. I did expect it to hold up longer than it did. So I ventured into EA after stopping at two other very sub-par places (Decor Furniture, Ashley) I decided to bite the bullet and go to EA. I know their price points, I actually worked at EA in Tustin about 10-12 years ago. They do still have the same set-up, it was called "The Up System" when I was there. Meaning that "You're Up!" when it's your turn and a customer walks through the front door. The receptionist takes note of what you're wearing and where you headed, and then relays the info back to the Design Consultant that is Up Next, and then they "casually" walk through the store and "happen" to stumble across you and offer their assistance. I got Bridgett Connors. I had actually just walked past the perfect Peacock Blue Leather chair, that was the right color for what I need in a sofa. I took her to it, she confirmed they could do the adjacent sofa style, in that leather. Boom. I am an easy sell, because you never have to sell me anything I actually want, I sell it to myself. If I don't want it, I make that pretty clear from the get-go. I am a busy lady, I don't have time for sales games (unless I'm on the other end LOL) Bridgett looked up the dimensions available, I chose what works, she went back to price it for me and was back in about 3 minutes. It was $6083 for the leather sofa, of course I am picking the most expensive leather. And that was with a 25% discount. 8-12 weeks delivery time. I actually really want to buy the sofa, but I looked up all kinds of info last night on if cats like to scratch leather sofas, since I have never had a leather sofa....Um apparently they do. I read too many stories of people with shredded leather sofas and chairs that I decided I didn't want to make the Ethan Allen investment, because of these jerk cats I have that might ruin it immediately. If I didn't have these kittens, I'd have probably purchased the sofa, Bridgett was helpful and they have lovely things in there. read more

We wanted some real "adult" solid wood furniture. Our bedroom furniture is about 10 years old and needed updating. It was starting to show signs of wear. When we entered we were greeted by Yvette. She was friendly professional and knowledgeable. Yvette showed us the beds, nightstands and dressers. Through this process she was very patient and took the time to show us wood samples and gave us her full attention. This was a completely new shopping experience for us. She gave us a quote and an estimated delivery time of 4 to 6 weeks. We let her know we would think about and get back to her. We called her up the very next day and placed the order. 4 weeks later our furniture arrived. The delivery time was very accurate. They came in set up our furniture and were very careful with their surroundings. They even left us enough room behind the bed so we can plug in our electronics. We are beyond impressed with the service and the quality of the furniture. We will definitely return to Ethan Allen for more furniture and would recommend this excellent customer experience. read more

I recently worked up the courage to enter this store after having no luck finding an armoire at other places. I was greeted by a young lady behind a desk. I told her what I was searching for, and she assured me that they have several armoires on display--"just walk around and I'll send a designer to find you." I walked through the entire store, did not see a single armoire, no one came to offer help, and as I approached the door to leave, the young lady only said "good-bye!" Needless to say, I will not ever return to this location for any furniture needs in the future.....I have never experienced such poor customer service in any furniture store--and I always thought Ethan Allen was supposed to be classy. read more

Horrible experience with the design center. So very sad. Wasted $15,000 on furniture that doesn't match and is too big for my space. I expressed my concern with the designer about the different patterns and colors mixing them together and she said to trust her. I expressed concerns about the ottomans. The bookshelf was so country for me and now that all the furniture is in, it doesn't fit. I expressed concern about it all and she said what I was getting is "sophisticated". Ok, what do I know? I'm not a designer. I'll listen. Anyway, I have to try to sell it, but for a fraction of what I paid. The rug doesn't match AT all and is way too small for the space. I don't think they put a lot of effort into designing the space to suit you. I would hire an interior decorator. I found one and she has been able to work with some of the pieces. Saved the $100+ pillows and reused the inserts, for example. Put the rug in my husband's office (it's an odd fit, may have to try and sell it). Took the doors off the country bookcase and put on new pulls. I don't think it's going to work though. There are holes for adjusting shelves inside that are an eye sore. The mirror ordered didn't match the style AT ALL and even though it wasn't in yet, they made us pay a restocking fee. We couldn't return anything else! The lamp shade was falling apart in a week and I had to keep reaching out for a replacement. Two weeks ago they got back to me and said it was coming. We shall see. The chairs and couch are too big for the space with the large bookcase. They sit in front of it awkwardly. The patterns don't match. The ottomans are probably going to be donated. Just sad. Buying furniture was a terrifying experience for me but using Ethan Allen's designers made it a pleasant and enjoyable process. Our designer, Debbie Harloff was amazing. She came out to our house and listened to what we liked and didn't like to develop a presentation. She wasn't offended when we asked for different options. In the end we couldn't be more pleased in how everything turned out from ordering to the professional delivery service.
