    5 Wings for 9.50
    Jay M.

I was in mood for wings. Roches was my wing spot but 7 pm they shut down hot food? Went here as near Roches... 9.50 for 5 wings is almost 2 bucks a wing? Bland taste... need soy or teriyaki ginger root marinade ... duck sauce was so watered down... dripped off wings before could eat? Clearly going for prices without concern to attach return customers. I was actually going to Pupu chines further down street , but was confused this place was them... maybe other items are better?

Never order wonton soup from here! I ordered wonton soup under the impression there was going to be pork. I get home and there's nothing but pasta. The soup is pink looking. No taste at all. I paid in cash and called them to tell them I want my money back. The lady said no refund. I asked what Can you give me for food. She said you get what you paid for and that's their style of wonton of soup which comes with no pork in it. Never again. Avoid paying them in cash.

Absolutely fantastic American Chinese food. The portion to cost ratio is soooooo good. The sauces are just what I was looking for. Keep in mind, this isn't some health nut, authentic from some province in China style food. This is what you get when you're thinking "damn I want something tasty that's gonna ruin my diet". Everything I wanted and then some. Good god those chunks of chicken were massive

    Crab Rangoon

I was in the area with my family and decided to stop by West Garden for some lunch! The employees here take orders in both English and Chinese. I love love love the crab rangoons here, made to order and super pretty! The fried chicken wings here are also super hot, fresh and flavorful. These are my fave appetizers from here! My family initially called to order vermicelli, which is an off menu item that they didn't have but instead of turning us away, they were able to replace the vermicelli with a more flavorful noodle. I called to order while driving over and they had my order ready within 20 minutes of my call! Customer service here is great as it is a local business run by a family. I would definitely recommend coming here and would definitely cater from here for any future events that I host with my family. Its great comfort food very quick and reasonable service.

A little surprise in the Peking Noodles.

This used to be my favorite Chinese take out. Last Saturday night ordered our usual and had it delivered. Made up a plate and dug into the Peking Noodles with pork and out fell a piece of medical tape and a piece of string which apparently fell of one of the cooks fingers. The manager gave us a hard time about returning all the food and suggested we just return the Peking Noodles. I think not... no telling what else was touched with a cut finger. Well needless to say we will never eat there again!

West Garden (hey, it's in West Roxbury which, technically speaking, is west) is a local Chinese take-out place which makes good take-out Chinese food. This is not sophisticated Asian fusion cuisine, but the kind of stuff that makes a very tasty lunch or dinner. Fried rice, egg foo yung, lo mein, egg rolls, etc. The staff has always been friendly and the kitchen is open to view so that you can see how things are prepared. The prices are reasonable. And the service is usually fast. There are a few tables to eat-in, if you wish -- but the environment is strictly "fast food" Formica and fluorescents. But there is a big urn of hot tea in the corner to which you can help yourself, whether you're eating there or just waiting while your take-out order is prepared. If you live in the area and want a reasonable family meal to bring home or to have delivered on those nights when you don't want to cook, the West Garden's food will not disappoint.

We came for a family dinner and of course Grandma Ding was with us in her wheelchair. We only smashed into a few chairs in the big, crowded dining room. And fortunately other customers were understanding while the staff was helpful and accommodating. The small, curious child running around the dining room without parental supervision didn't get hurt when I ran him over. The menu was huge so it took a long time to order with Grandma asking questions about every item. I could see that the waitstaff was used to quick orders and rapid food delivery to the table, but the waiter remained kind and patient. He also repeated his answers loudly when she couldn't understand his English and because she didn't have her hearing aides turned up. We finally ordered a giant wonton soup, eggplant with garlic sauce, a shrimp dish, and orange chicken; all to share. Everything was fresh, hot, tasty and delicious. Grandma Ding did have to ask for the soup to be heated up because she likes it to be scalding. The dining room is worn and dishes were flying in and out as items were served and cleared. It's definitely a place for family meals, not one for an engagement proposal or romance. Perfect for our evening. Portions are generous and prices competitive with other restaurants in the area. Parking on the street is the only difficulty, particularly when you have a nonagenarian to get into the restaurant. We will definitely be back.

Almost every table last night ordered hot pot. -Dried Scallop and Egg white fried rice: I order this whenever I see it on the menu but Ding's makes this soooo well. It has the amazing smoky wok flavor. -Surf clam on vermicelli: so fresh, so delicious. I will definitely be coming back to try more of their dishes. The service was great, super fast and attentive. The restaurant was clean and bright.

We ordered 3 combination plates with sesame chicken, crab Rangoon, and pork fried rice, 2 combination plates with general tso chicken, crab Rangoon, and chicken fried rice, one large order of tostones, and one large order of chicken wings for $108. The food was ready after about 15 minutes and was still warm after 30 minutes when we were ready to eat. We all agreed that the food was less greasy than most Chinese food places. Also, the wings were really crispy and tasted fresh. The rice was really good, and surprisingly I did prefer the chicken fried rice. I liked the general tso chicken more than the sesame chicken since it had a bit of spice and more flavor, whereas the sesame chicken was just sweet. I did wish the breading was crispier, but I think it was just because it was take out and about a 20 minute drive. The crab rangoons were good but they did need just a little more filling for my liking. The tostones would have been a lot better right out the oil but it did bring a lot in the order. Overall, I was very satisfied with the portion sizes, flavor, and cost.

TLDR: Potentially…read moreone of my favorite Chinese restaurants in all of Massachusetts! Beautiful interior, centrally located, and delicious, high-quality food. Will definitely find a reason to come back here soon. ------ FOOD: 1. [MUST TRY] STIR-FRIED CABBAGE W/ PORK BELLY (5/5) Presentation was phenomenal (in a clay pot with its own burner underneath to keep it hot). The portion was much larger than expected, and most importantly, it tasted incredible. Generous amounts of pork in this, and the sauce was authentic and addicting. 2. SCALLION CHICKEN (5/5) Another great choice. This was a huge portion with lots of tender chicken, and the scallion was present without being overpowering. 3. CRISPY BEEF WITH FRIED DOUGH STICKS (5/5) I was expecting Chinese you tiao but these were actually the small, ultra crispy manhua twists! Paired with the beef, this was a large and unique dish that I loved. The crispiness of the mahua made this a textural delight to eat. 4. MANGO SAGO DESSERT (5/5) Big portion, wonderful assortment of toppings including grapefruit, mango, sago, and popping balls over a creamy dessert soup base. 5. PEKING DUCK (4/5) I think I'm a tough critic since I just came back from Beijing and had so much Peking duck there. We ordered the half portion here and it had a generous amount of meat for not being the full portion. There were an assortment of accompaniments, including pineapple (new to me) and sugar (like the Beijing style) which were welcome additions. The wrappers were steamed well and didn't curl up on the edges. Overall this was a solid Peking duck, but the meat wasn't as standout as I was hoping. 6. STEAMED PORK SOUP DUMPLING (4/5) Solid soup dumplings. Not the best I've ever had, but definitely hit the spot. 7. SAUTEED PEA SPROUTS (4/5) Another solid classic. 8. PORK MEATBALL IN CRAB MEAT SAUCE (4/5) This was the most unique thing we ordered. I've never had a shi zi tou meatball with crab meat sauce before. The meatball itself was large (maybe size of a tennis ball), tender, and fatty, as it should be. It was then drowned in a generous lake of traditional crab meat sauce. If you're not a fan of crab meat then this might be a bit too fishy for you, but honestly it all combined surprisingly well and I grew to like this dish more and more with each bite. I wasn't the biggest fan to start, but by the end I wouldn't have minded getting another one! ------ AMBIANCE / ENVIRONMENT: * The interior has the classic Asian style of decor, but you can tell it was recently built / renovated because everything felt new and fresh. * The ambiance also felt more new-school luxurious vs. the typical Asian establishments that are more no-frills with as many tables packed in as possible * You're still somewhat close to the tables around you, but it's not overwhelming during lunch time and we still felt like we had enough space regardless * There's a bar area at the front of the restaurant and then a large, spacious dining room in the back * This is a great place for a date or a meaningful family gathering * Right outside is Boston Common, making this restaurant very well-located for lunch before or after a nice day in the park. While there's lots of parking around the park, a spot itself can be hard to come by, so your best bet might be to use the nearby parking garage instead ------ SERVICE: * Overall the service was great and quick. They did forget our tea, but when we asked for it later they apologized profusely and were quick to bring it out for us * This place fills up quickly so be sure to come early if you don't have a reservation or if you're a big enough group, make a reservation for your desired dining time
