I thought I stop in after work. The dining room was spilt into two rooms separated by a giant fish tank. There was no bar which may account for the higher prices on the menu. There was easy-listening music playing in the background. I thought the fried rice ad ell as the egg fu yung was cold. They did not offer mustard or duck sauce to me. I had to get up to get it. Best Chinese food you can find. Never had a bad quality meal. Plenty of seating available, takeout available, Chinese decor with an interesting fish tank, but they need to add bar seating as well. Sadly, like almost all restaurants, it is not open on Thanksgiving or Christmas, so on those days I have to go to the Tahiti restaurant on Route 1 in Dedham. Legal Seafoods used to be open on Thanksgiving, but no more. I drove all the way out to Walmart, but except for McDonald's, and Tahiti, no other restaurants were open. If you aren't super careful you will drive past this restaurant...don't do that. It is set waay back from the road to accomodate your parking needs, so keep an eye out so you can pull into the correct parking lot and not miss out. When you go in the entry way you are greeted by multiple collages of photos of their regulars. This is a well loved and long laying restaurant The inside of the restaurant is really gorgeous. Colorful walls, fish tank, gorgeous lamps. The food was solid. I got a chicken with broccoli. There was a great looking list of cocktails but we weren't in the position to partake that day. Well, stopped in for lunch . Haven't been there in awhile . I ordered a boneless spare rib appetizer and the lunch special Beef Chow Foon. No soup with lunch specials, no tea Asked the waiter if I could get Beef Chow Foon with garlic...he told me to order the garlic shrimp special then? The boneless ribs arrived with abundant pile but in bottom were all dry over cooked or reheated ones that were inedible . The others were fatty and I had to cut out fat as shown in pic of the pile of fat... Beef Chow Foon noodles were good , but bland taste and needed garlic or any spice. I enjoy the fish tank there but I don't see myself returning to view the fish. read more

I cam here for lunch. While some of my coworkers aren't impressed, there is something great about getting food when it is fresh. The portion sizes were just right and suited to my taste. We eat in, or get food from, Mandarin Cuisine about once a month for many years. This is a good-looking restaurant with fish tanks and excellent food. Honey glazed chicken, Hong Kong crispy shrimp, pan fried crispy noodles, Hunan crispy fish, moo shi in a variety of proteins, spicy string beans, and scallion pancakes are favorites, but we've been happy with everything we've gotten here. I eat in Boston's Chinatown a lot, and MC passes muster without having to go downtown. My daughter, who long ago moved out of Needham, comes back just to go to MC. read more

Asked for a couple extra soy sauce packets and the lady said "in the bag" and we said well could we just have a couple extras because we use a lot. She said "do you want to buy some?" So we said never mind. $40 worth of food and they can't give you 2 packets of soy sauce. So we got home and there was ONE packet of soy sauce in the bag. We called to let them know and the same woman who waited on us said "oh I'll have to tell the packers; there's supposed to be one packet for each order".never said "oh sorry that happened". Really annoying...i am pretty sure those packets cost them about 2 cents each so it seems foolish to annoy customers by being cheap with something so easy to do. Amazing restaurant right outside Boston near Boston College. The staff was just awesome and so was the service. The hit and sour soup was some of the best I ever had. The Salmon dish was awesome and when I asked for some brown sauce it made it even better. The same can be said for the black pepper shrimp. This was authentic Chinese cuisine and it was recommended by the hotel clerk and he was right it is the best. The place actually looks like a Mandarin garden. Loved it! If you are ever in Boston, Massachusetts you need to find this little gem! The ambiance and decor was very nice. read more

First timer for lunch. Staff is fantastic, friendly and attentive. Beef with peppers and onions as fresh as can be, made to order. I never eat chicken fingers, usually all batter and fat, these were delicious, lightly battered. Ribs on bone were unfortunately a little dry. read more

What can I say? The food has been consistent for decades. Consistently cooked, consistently mixed, consistently delicious. I am a huge fan of their chicken fingers appetizer, which are slices of lightly dusted chicken, not the awful thumbs of wet dough with a sliver of chicken inside. The honey glazed chicken is divine. Waiter dropped off the dish & disappeared. So I ate a small amount and I went to the checkout counter to pay. I can't actually speak to the quality of their food, only to their lack of flexibility and lack of concern as regards customers wanting a vegetarian meal. Recently, after our granddaughter's soccer game, we took her parents for lunch to Mandarin Cuisine. Everyone else ordered their luncheon special. Unfortunately for me, no entirely vegetarian option was available without making one or two substitutions, which the menu said was not permitted. A polite request to the manager for an exception in these particular circumstances was unavailing. While I understand the general logic behind a "no substitutions" rule, refusing to make a vegetarian exception strikes me as an example of what Emerson called a foolish consistency of little minds. read more

Their sweet and sour pork or chicken is so good because it is very lightly battered so you get meat and not breading. I have never had a bad meal. We ordered a meal for the family boneless barbacue spareribs .as one of the dishes..what we got were cut up pieces of fat . Hard strips of fat, It was the wrost . I honestly believe they give take out orders the bad ends of the pork, things that may not be as fresh etc.. food they wouldnt give a customer who is dining -in because they know it would be returned. I've eaten here before the pandemic, it was referred to me by several people whom have also eaten here on many occasions. Common denominator food awesome, service and food coming out f the kitchen beyond slow. When I first went, 20 minutes to get menus. Was almost an hour passed by, by the time the food came. But when it did, delicious. I would say my second favorite place thus far. This past weekend, a miracle happened, they now offer delivery. Still took an hour, but worth it. We got the orange crispy chicken, house rice, teriyaki and some one got something that I would never order so I'm not posting it. But they liked it too. Popped in for a quick take-out bowl of hot and sour soup (which, by the way, was one of the best I've tasted). Lovely decor, done in subdued jade colors, with a bit of Polynesian theme, excellent piano jazz (sounded like Dave Brubeck, but I neglected to ask), and most attentive staff. My family has been dining there for 30+ years. When I went on Tuesday and ordered a cup of tea they brought me a cup of hot water and a tea bag. When I requested another cup of tea the waitress refilled my cup with hot water (no tea bag). When I requested a pot of tea I was told they no longer use pots only individual cups. I just ordered spicy string beans, medium spicy, with pork, for pickup along with other items. This was my mother's day lunch and kind of a big deal for me. There was no spice on the beans at all. There's not a single little red fleck from the hot peppers to be found anywhere. I am so disappointed. I've been strictly following the stay at home precautions, so going out to pick up lunch was a huge decision, made mostly for my son. I'm feeling really disappointed. The pork was excellent as were the chicken wings and the rice was just fine but I don't enjoy the beans at all without the spice and the beans are what I ordered. What a letdown. read more

What a great local spot! The food was super tasty: we ordered a hot and sour soup, wonton soup, general tso's, and orange beef, plus two small rice. The soups were fantastic--really flavorful broth, soft satin texture for the hot and sour, and a satisfying umami from the wonton meat filling. The general tso's didn't overdo the celery (which many places do to save money), and the chicken was all white meat. The beef came as wide strips, I think because it was pounded for tenderness. Of course it wasn't super high-grade beef for $16, but it's a good quality dish with an orange sauce that is slightly sweet without being cloying. Overall, highly recommend this local spot! They are open for in-person dining, and we hope to eat in-person some time soon. read more
