Nice little hometown diner that made me feel at home. Like a mom & pop shop. We were in town for a few days and I'm so glad we stopped by here. So many options looked so good on the menu that I "accidentally" ordered too many things. The strawberry cheesecake French toast, amazing. Stopped by here again for a great lunch after visiting University of New Haven (UNH students get a discount, btw). Another great, thick cheeseburger and fries, bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich for the boys and got a gyro wrap for myself - excellent. But i really have to talk about the baklava, which i hadn't tried here before - it was unbelievably good! The Phyllo dough was perfectly crispy, while the filling was soft and nutty with great depth of flavor. The syrup was just the right amount of sweet and sticky. Not cloying as some baklava is. Went Mother's Day, place is very clean and always has been when I went. Service very polite and fast. Food is really good. My sister and her kids went there on Mother's Day and everything has been delicious. They were very satisfied. My nephew is fussy& goes often. A lot of writing on the menu. They brought me a take-home of a corn beef Reuben. They are very cheap you have to pay extra to get actual syrup and not the fake stuff in little plastic containers they put on your plate talk about sanitary. There's not even jelly on the table for your toast they serve it up as if your are supposed to choke it down, bacon is like eating cardboard, and the home fries are literally just boiled chunks of potatoes and a bunch of butter like it was almost set up to make mashed potatoes and they just share the batch for both! read more

This place has been around for a long time and Ive eaten here several times usually accompanying a friend or two and what I've found is that With such a large extensive menu, the quality suffers. I enjoy the breakfast items a lot more than lunch/dinner items. It seems like breakfast items may be their specialty. I always order a side of corned beef hash. They say it's homemade and you can definitely taste the difference compared to the canned stuff. And while I appreciate the freshness, there were long strings and large pieces of onion in the hash. That is where the the side dish was ruined. The last thing I ate was the grilled cheese supreme. While good in concept, it was the poor execution that ruined it. First, they forgot the tomato on my sandwich and after realizing it, the waitress took my sandwich back and someone stuck slices of tomato in the sandwich. Raised eyebrow: when have you been able to actually pull a real grilled cheese apart so easily? Then after 1 bite, I began to dissect. This was 2 pieces of toast with a barely melted slice of cheese on each piece and some stuff in the middle. Then you stick a cool slice of tomato on what should have been a warm sandwich. The idea was there, but the way it was done didn't work. There should have at least been some gooey melted cheese on my grilled cheese sandwich. The service was okay. The staff seemed very friendly, but not as attentive as they should have been. I hate when im thirsty and the waitress isn't around. I would have loved to get another drink. I also would have loved to have been asked how my food was or if I wanted anything else, like a dessert. I'll be back the next time a friend suggests it, but probably not on my own. Let's start with the chicken tenders and french fries the only thing I can truly say here is the food is out of this world my first bite tasted like heaven the fries are nice and salted. You can tell the bacon is old, silverware is tiny...like eating breakfast with a child's fork or salad fork. French Toast was nothing to write home about. They have a large variety of foods to choose from and the staff is very hospitable, I was very satisfied .

Every single ingredient was terrible. Even the bread was stale. It killed me to throw the entire sandwich in the trash but it was inedible. The avocados still had the skin on them (I'm glad I didn't bite into that), all of the avocados were solid, bendy, and brown. They were each positioned so the brownest sides were hidden. Soo they noticed how brown (and unpeeled!) they were... and intentionally fed it to me. If their lack of care for quality ingredients is that extreme I really can't imagine what they do with their meats... which brings me to the bacon that's all different colors, including some graying areas... there's no chance it was cooked today. This place is a freaking dineraunt. Now I know what you're thinking. Good Lord, few diners ever achieve the dineraunt status. In fact a quick internet search shows there's only two bona fide dineraunts in the country; this one and another one in NY. Oddly enough, the word dineraunt reminds me of the word dreadnought. If you don't know what a dreadnought is, I shall tell you. It was a class of battleship, yes battelship, that ruled the seven seas in the early part of the last century. They were the biggest, most gunned, bad-ass chunks of metal to ever float on water. The mere name dreadnought instilled fear into the hearts of its naval opponents the world over. In a way this dineraunt is like the dreadnought of diners. Diner afficianados will find its metal and glass exterior awe inspiring, complete with dirty railroad tracks running directly next to the property. Even inside, there's lots of metal and glass. It's built very solid, just like a dreadnought. And like a dreadnought it's employees treat customers with a take-no-prisoners approach. Don't get me wrong, they're friendly, but not overly friendly. Get in, get your food, and get out. That's the process. If you're looking for something more, then this isn't your place. Unfortunately dreadnought battleships lost their water dominance to lighter, quicker and leaner types of ships. Today they can only be found in history books. But unlike the fate of dreadnoughts, dineraunts survived and this one is much alive and kicking in our very own backyard. Anyone can say they've been to a diner. My roommate & I ordered from this restaurant for a quick and easy dinner option. We regularly eat at this restaurant and order from them frequently through Uber Eats. The food is good, however not well enough to tolerate the kind of customer service that they offer to their loyal visitors. My roommate ordered the Grilled Cheese supreme sandwhich with NO BACON and NO TOMATO, which was clearly indicated in the Uber Eats order receipt. The order arrived, and would you guess what was on her sandwhich? She is not only VEGETARIAN but ALSO ALLERGIC TO TOMATOES. As she saw this, she called the restaurant to rightfully complain about this order. When speaking with a male (most likely the owner because I have had personal rude experiences from a male with the same voice), he was extremely disrespectful, had no remorse for nearly causing my roommate to have an allergic reaction. Not to mention as well that he hung up on my roommate while she was talking to him. The order was made incorrectly and there was nothing being done to help make the situation better, he was stubborn & ignorant. My eggs over medium were actually over easy, but whatever. The toast was pretty near perfect and the potatoes were a nice version of lyonnaise, warm and soft with a subtle vinegar bite. Chewy bacon, unfortunately, but I'm beginning to suspect that this is how CT likes it? We ordered breakfast items - my fiance had a spinach/feta omelet, which was acceptable but only had a small amount of the fillings. The fried potates were edible but nothing more. $7.25 I made the mistake of being adventurous and ordered blueberry blintzes. I got a whalloping THREE blintzes garnished with ... a piece of lettuce?!! No potatoes, no toast, nothing on the side. Diner food is usually a hit or miss but I've always had really great experiences here. Staff is always friendly, food is good. Tonight I was actually blown away. I ordered through Uber eats and my food arrived within 20 mins (I live close but still they had to have worked very quickly) food was still hot and fresh. I customized my order a little and they went above and beyond to make sure I enjoyed my meal. Everything was delicious, even the pickle and I am very very picky about my pickles. I personally like to go out until wee hours of the morning drinking cheap liquor and even cheaper beer. This diner is great for after hours food. Breakfast and lunch are also pretty key points for any diner. I think that there are better places around but the food here is good. I was looking forward to trying this place, but was disappointed by several things. The diner itself wasn't very clean. When I ordered the turkey sandwich, he asked how I'd like it cooked (it's not beef!) I replied "All the way through, please." Scary. They seemed confused when I asked for my lunch order to-go. They weren't knowledgeable about the menu. Getting the small cup of soup to-go adds when up-charge. The sweet potato fries were very soggy (my drive home was 2 minutes.)
